I stand before the door of his apartment, a excited grin on my face.
Due to how busy our lives have gotten recently, them now living here in New York and working in a Performance Arts Company, and me building my music career back home in Toronto with the band, Noah and I haven't seen each-other in a good few months now and I've honestly been missing him like crazy! We've been messaging and having videocalls non-stop, but it's just not the same.
They're one of my best friends. (Who I may or may not hold some secret feelings for.) So, when I found out that my band has a few days off from work, I decided to buy a plane ticket to New York to suprise them.
I have been here a few times before, so I know which one is his by now. I knock on the door with eagerness. I hear a few bits of movement inside after and then some footsteps.
When the door opens, I swear I actually did mess up the number and got the wrong apartment.
Infront of me stands a young person, quite muscular in build and a bit shorter than me. They are dressed in a brown, oversized woollen sweater, with grey joggers and fluffy socks.
But what's most prevalent about them is their striking, curly, hot-pink hair!
It covers the complete surface of their head, not cut in any style. It wraps around the front of their ears and their large fringe stops just above their eyes.
These eyes, which are also framed by thick, black, square glasses by the way, are staring at me in complete shock, but also weirdly happy?
"Um...sorry. I think I got the wrong apartment. Do you happen to know where Noah Erlick lives?" I ask, with a bit of embarrassment.
I don't get an answer. Instead, this person lunges themself at me, wrapping their arms tightly around me friend. I instantly go to shove the creep off, but then I hear their voice.
"James! Oh my god! What are you doing here?!"
My entire body freezes up as I realise who he is.
No...No! It can't be?!
"Noah?" I ask.
"Yeah Jay, it's me?" They say, amusement in their voice.
I pull away from their grasp and immediately start treading my fingers through his hair.
I rant nonsensicaly: "When did you do this?" "It's actually not styled for once!" "I swear your hair was still brown in your last Instagram post."
I look around all of it, almost every strand! Just trying to comprehend what I'm seeing.
Noah is laughing at my antics and doesn't actually take a step back until I'm finished. They're clearly having fun with this.
"Yeah, I got it dyed last week.
"Like I told you, I'm really starting to grow into and understand myself as a person out here. Dying my hair has actually been something I've been contemplating for awhile. So, when I went to get a haircut, I said "fuck it", and decided to keep all my grown out hair, cause I'm actually really liking it and went full pink instead!" He says this all with a face full of joy and I can tell he is really happy about it. Which I'm really glad about. He deserves to be happy!
I want to tell him this, but I can't get over the shock of it and just how fucking good he looks! I can tell I need to say something though as they are starting to get scared.
"What do you think?" He asks, twirling a few curls around his right index finger.
So many different things run through my head to say. But I go with:
"I'm think you look extremely cool, but also absolutely adorable and I want to kiss you so badly!"
They jolt back in obvious suprise in classic Noah fashion. Their face is now completely red, matching well with his hair. Normally I would find this endearing, but right now I'm kind of shitting myself.
Great job idiot! Why'd you have to go and say that?!
For a few moments, I'm completely scared that I've scared them off.
But, then he comes back into arm's reach, pressing our chests together. He looks up at me with those hot/cute, green eyes, filled with hope but also hesitation, and bites his lip.
"I think that can be arranged."
I stay in now eager silence, any unusual worries now rid of me, as they tilt their head up slightly and brings our lips together! I instantly start to kiss him back, his touch filling me with warmth. Thet cling onto my shirt and I rest a hand on his flushed cheek.
Dude! You're finally kissing them! You're actually kissing Noah!
We do this for several moments, neither one of us wanting to break it apart. It was so tender and filled with softness, but we eventually had to.
Noah rests their head on my chest and I incase my arms around his figure. I kiss his forward and lean my head ontop of theirs. We stay like that for a couple minutes, laying in the moment.
Noah eventually invites me inside, acknowledging that we are still in the doorway. I follow them in, my duffle bag now back in one hand and Noah's hand in the other. He pulls me over to the couch.
I lie down and beckon for them to join me. His head goes once again to my chest, but this time his entire body is now on me. I wrap my arms back around them and bring them closer.
"This was definitely not something I was expecting today." He whispers in that soft voice of theirs.
"I can agree with that statement." I say, eyes trailing on his new hair and glasses, and then down to his lips. They catch me looking and give me a peck that lasts a bit longer that what can actually be considered a peck. Not that I'm complaining.
"Something tells me you really like the new hair." He smiles
