The Dark Knight was staking out in the Batmobile, which he had parked in a dimly lit alleyway, when a transmission snapped him out of his concentration. Slowly turning his head to look at the dash board, he raised his hand off of the gear-stick and tapped a button to accept the call. Instantly, Batman was met with a screen broadcasting Dr. Fate.
"Batman here."
"Good evening Batman, it appears we have a dilemma."
Batman furrowed his brow at this and glared through the screen
"Elaborate."
"Our good friend Shayera escaped my tower. I do not have any leads on where to find her, nor will I look for her as I have come to the resolution to leave this matter to fate."
"To each his own Doctor. I've defied fate and death many times and I have to intention to quit now. Shayera could get hurt. Despite the fact she's an strong warrior and a force to be reckoned with, she isn't mentally prepared for a fight and could be easily taken down by many villains lurking the streets. I have to find her."
"Good hunting Batman."
Batman ended the transmission to Dr. Fate and shook his head. He was disappointed in Shayera. She should know better. Her mind was a steel cage and yet she was overtaken by her emotions and made a rash decision that could only end poorly. Sure enough, Batman's fear came to fruition as the face of the one and only Joker appeared on every screen and electric bill board in Gotham. Batman quickly snapped his head up to look at the deranged lunatic and was dreading whatever it was he had to say"
"Hi-ya Batzy! I can't see you, but I sure know you can see me. So listen here, I found this little birdy flying around in the sky and well who am I kidding I sure missed ya you son of a gun! So I figured 'Hey how could I get Big Ol Bat's attention?' Then I saw a this little birdy fly over and I knew I couldn't let this opportunity slip away so...I got myself a birdie."
Joker proceeded to turn the camera, which revealed a badly beaten Shayera, a sight that sickened Batman to the stomach. She was unconscious and chained inside a cage. Joker then cynically proceeded his mindless rambling:
"So...ya like it? Anyway, you have twenty four hours to come save this beauty or else, we're going to have to clip her wings. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAH"
The signal was cut after that and all the screens went black. Cancelling the rest of his patrol, Batman floored his beauty of an automobile and headed to the Batcave. Double-tasking, he set an alarm for 1:45 AM of the next day (24 hours from the transmission). Within the next five minutes, he arrived to the Batcave, barely fitting the Batmobile through the hidden door as he was driving at incredibly speeds. Once he reached the parking pad, he pressed a button which ejected him from his seat. He then used the momentum to glide to and then gracefully land in his seat. He didn't have much of a lead but he had an idea that could potentially work. He figured the best and quickest way to find the Joker and Shayera would be to track the location of the transmission. He looked through the broadcasting networks and found one that matched both the time and mass of Joker's. The details were encrypted; however, this was at most a glorified hinderance to the Great Detective himself. With a flurry over his keyboard, he quickly hacked into the file and found the location of the transmission. Much to his dismay, under the broadcasting location, the screen read The Elizabeth Arkham Asylum for the Criminally Insane. Batman slammed his fist on the table in anger. Joker must have taken over Arkham, that means that he has most, if not all of the convicts there protecting him and creating a blockade between Batman and Shayera. Mr. Freeze, Killer Croc, Bane, Clay Face, Two Face, and Scarecrow, they'd all be there. He'd have to take all of their weaknesses into account and then he'd also had to prepare for all the goons they'd have. However this wasn't the only dilemma. Joker must have paid off the guards to take control of the asylum, but he doesn't have that kind of money. That could only mean that the Penguin or Falconi was controlling GCPD. However, he would have to deal with that later because right now, he has a friend to save.
He didn't know much about how this was going to go, but he knew one thing. This night was gonna be one hell of a fight and the only way he's gonna get out is either with Shayera or in a plastic bag with a zipper up the front.
