AN

Hello! So I had basically written this entire chapter on my laptop but it crashed and I lost it all...kinda sucks but oh well. The worse thing is that I put a lot of effort into it.

Oh well-hope you enjoy!

Now that Batman knew that Joker was at Arkham, he had to account for all of his friends that will be there. The Bat only knew one way to prepare for weaknesses, and that, was his armory. He flipped a switch and an automated voice responded.

"Security level Omega permissions commencing. Stage one of three, hand print. Please place your hand on the pad."

A pad emerged from Batman's desk and he placed his hand into the imprint and waited for the machine to scan it.

"Stage one complete. Stage two commencing. Retinal scan required."

A camera appeared in front of Batman's face and he opened his left eye for the scan. A blue light went up and down his eye and then turned green before disappearing back into the wall.

"Stage two complete. Third and final stage commencing. Please input your pin on the keypad."

A calculator-like pad emerged from his desk and Batman quickly entered 9-1-9-3-9 into the machine.

"Identity verification complete, access granted. Welcome Batman"

Shortly after, the wall behind him split revealing the armory. It was neatly organized with Batarangs, gadgets, suits, and vehicles. Batman got busy and chose to start with Clayface's weaknesses. He thought to himself:

Clayface can be easily defeated with a taser, but if the cords are removed, he will instantly leap back into action. He can't move if he's frozen so liquid nitrogen could be a good move. If I can pack some into one of my explosive Batarangs, it should do the trick. I'll throw them from a ten-foot radius to insure that my plan doesn't backfire. Killer Croc is similar. His immense strength renders physical combat useless, but a high voltage of electricity will make sure he sleeps nicely.

Batman quickly got a few samples of liquid nitrogen and placed them in the center capsules of three Batarangs. He had equipped his explosive Batarangs to have these empty slots that release whatever they're holding upon impact.

Good. Now that Clayface and Croc are out for the night let's consider Mr. Freeze. I could break his helmet, but he would die if I did that. What if I crack it so he stays alive but is incapacitated? No that won't work. He could freeze the crack shut and besides, if it doesn't kill him that plan is a bust. I guess we can't defeat him with his helmet, but what about his suit? Freeze's unique genetic code requires 0 degrees Fahrenheit to maintain homeostasis. His suit provides him with that capability with the power core in the back. If I can reverse the charge with a hacking device to make it so that the core raises the temperature to 50 degrees that should do the trick. He'll be in a lot of pain but he'll still be alive. The one problem is that I'll have to get it within three inches of the power cell, so it'll have to basically be a direct hit. After that, it will hack into the coding within .5 seconds so that even if it's broken by someone after, the damage will be done.

Batman quickly created a model of Mr. Freeze's suit and within seconds had the hacking device ready and programmed to his exact wishes. He put it into a tracking gun, which would be accurate enough to get the job done. Batman decided Freeze would be his first target since he requires the most precision.

Now that the easy one's whose abilities are nothing compared to their weaknesses are out of the way, let's move to the more difficult ones to deal with. Scarecrow is a difficult opponent. Although physically he's no match, his toxins make him dangerous. I'd have to stay at least thirty feet away from him at all times. I wouldn't have time to throw a Batarang at him and I can't engage in a fist fight. Hmm...but what if I don't fight Scarecrow but Jonathan Crane? Scarecrow uses his toxins to make people afraid but why is that? Why not make them angry or brainwashed? Scarecrow must be afraid himself, I just have to exploit that weakness. I need to find out what Crane is afraid of. My best bet is to use the Bat-computer to make a global wide search using the key words Jonathan and Crane. I'll set hospitals and medical notes as the best match so they'll be what I see first.

Batman reached the computer and quickly scoured the internet one the whereabouts of Jonathan Crane. After about 10 minutes he hit gold.

An analysis of Crane from his childhood therapist. Surely this will give me what I need--hmm, according to this, Crane grew up in an absuive home without a mother. He was constantly attacked by a murder of crows that lived near his home. Crows don't attack people so he must have been exposed to some pheromone that set them off. That must be why he chose to be a chemist. Chemistry, crows, fear. What do that have in common? Crane must be traumatized by the crows and used chemistry to instill his fear into other people. That's my hook. If I could make a hallucinogenic that makes him think he's being attacked by a murder of crows, that could do the trick. But he might be able to counter it with one of his toxins. If I could make my hallucinogenic to raise Cortisol, Adrenaline, and Norepinephrine levels that'll put him in shock and he'll pass out after a few minutes. I could use one of Scarecrow's bases to start my toxin, but I'll modify it so his remedies won't work.

"Computer, display the compound of Scarecrow's fear toxin.

After about an hour, Batman had created his hallucinogenic. That amount of time was a decently large chunk that he didn't want to lose, but he had gotten another heavy hitter out of the way. He placed the gas into small round containers that burst upon impact. After that step was complete, he placed them inside on of the pouches in his utility belt.

This is good. I've knocked out Scarecrow, Mr. Freeze, Killer Croc and Clayface, leaving Two-Face, and Bane. Of those two Bane is the easiest to incapacitate. I can't defeat him in physical combat, and I can't use lethal force. But if I slash the tubes that feed Bane the "venom" he'll collapse for a short period of time. However, even without the venom, one good blow from him and both Shayera and I are goners. I need to make sure Bane gets knocked out for the rest of the night. I'll have approximately five minutes to seal the deal. If I use three of my impact Batarangs, that should do it. They use velocity and speed to increase impact and force. Considering that they knock out a normal person within five feet, and accounting for how hard Bane's head is, if I throw them from twenty-five or so feet I will be good. Two-Face is an easy target as he is just a man, but I can't kill him and he'll be surrounded by his goons. However, Dent might have the place rigged to explode. I'll have to scan the area for explosives. Just in case I'll pack a few EMP devices that'll render his remote to be just a toy. After that he's just a goon with a gun.

Batman packed all the necessary gadgets into his belt. However, for this fight, he needed an upgrade. His cloth suit wouldn't be enough. Moving to his row of suits, he selected one that was armored but still maintained flexibility. He needed to be protected, but he also needed to be quick and flexible. This suit also used force taken in to its advantage as it increased the the force unleashed through punches and kicks. Now that all the preparations were made, it was time for Batman to meet with the deranged lunatic:

Joker.
