Shayera moaned as she attempted to stand, but empty on strength, she fell back down onto the cold and dirty floor. Her head was throbbing and she couldn't open her eyes as the lights were too bright. Parched, she licked her lips to moisturize them a bit, but tasted copper. She was bleeding, which could explain the throbbing migraine. She didn't know where she was but she needed to escape. Once again she tried rising to her feet and this time to more avail. She staggered around a bit and squinted her eyes to be able to see but still be protected from the blinding light.
"Hey Boss, the girl is awake. Do I shoot her?"
"WHAT!? NO YOU MORON! We need the girl so that the Bat will come HMHMHMHAHAHA! As for our bird friend, she can't be awake right now. Put her back to sleep."
"Sure thing Boss."
Shayera heard a door screech open and listened to the footsteps that slowly and methodically approached her. Suddenly, she was pushed onto the floor and felt someone lean down next to her.
"Sorry lady."
With that, she felt a huge impact hit her on the head and then, everything went black.
It was now three in the morning. Batman was a bit tired but he knew he had to save Shayera as soon as possible. He didn't alert the rest of the leaguers of this because he didn't like them meddling in his city, and because he knew how to deal with these specific villains he would be fine. He'd been driving for some time now and was approaching Arkham. He chose to park it a block or two away from the gates and would proceed on foot. He used his grappler to get over the gate and landed without a sound. He then headed to the main complex, but noticed two guards standing in front of the entrance. They would need to be quickly knocked out. If they shoot their guns his cover would be blown. Creeping into the shadows Batman quietly snuck up next to one and bashed his head into the wall. He is then kicked off the wall punched the other guard in the face before while in the air. Now that they were both dealt with he jumped into the air duct and entered the asylum. When he was on top of the lobby he peered down the vent shaft. Oddly enough, Clayface was not in the room but everyone else was. He counted about forty-five goons. Batman scanned the room for Freeze. Much to his dismay, his target was standing by the door that leads to the cell blocks. He'd have to lure him out in order to get access to the back of the suit. A lure wouldn't work because one of the goons would go to check it out instead of Mr. Freeze. Letting out a disappointed sigh, Batman looked for Scarecrow. He was grateful to find Scarecrow in the center of the room. Stealthily, Batman opened the pouch that the hallucinogenics were in and grabbed them. The room was both very tall and very dim so Batman chose to grapple to a different vantage point. Thankfully no one noticed or heard. Now that he was directly over Scarecrow, he dropped the hallucinogenics around him.
"What the-"
Batman pressed a button on his wrist and the containers released the fumes.
"AHHH--THEY'RE EVERYWHERE."
It was working. Crane was in complete panic mode and was thrashing about. But there was no time to observe Crane. Batman was extremely lucky. Freeze was moving to check up on the screaming man, which was Batman's cue to fire his hacking device. He noticed as Freeze staggered and eventually collapsed onto the floor. His suit was no longer emitting a blue light, but an orangish one. This was his cue. It was time to make his presence known. He dropped down on top of two goons-knocking them out.
"Welcome Batman!"
Batman got into a defensive pose as he turned around to see Bane with his hands on his hips.
"Tonight, you pay for locking us up in here. Tonight, you will die."
With a war cry, Bane rushed Batman. Batman flipped backwards a few times and then jumped out of the way as Bane crashed into the wall. But now, the problems began. The goons were charging Batman too. He threw a few smoke bombs onto the floor, which bought him enough time to fight Bane without interference. Bane threw a quick but easily dodged punch, which Batman countered by kicking him in the knee. Bane then threw a messy left hook which Batman blocked and countered with a punch to the face. Finally, Bane was a disoriented and punched the air in an attempt to land a blow on Batman. Now was his chance. He used Banes outstretched arm to rocket himself over the hulk of a man and with a quick move of his forearm spikes, Batman cut the venom flowing to Band.
"AARGHHH" Bane groaned as he hit fell to his knees. Batman summersaulted a few feet away and threw his impact batarangs at Bane's head. Once they hit, Bane collapsed to the floor, out for the night.
However, Batman had a new dilemma. During his fight with Bans, Killer Croc had managed to get near Batman, and now, Batman felt a huge pain rocket up his spine as he was sent flying towards the wall. He had no time to even put his arms in front of his head to protect his face from bashing into the wall, and thus, he went straight through the wall and into a few wooden crates, which shattered on impact. Groaning, Batman put one of his hands to his head as he struggled to get up. He craned his head up just in time to see Croc taking huge strides towards him. Without hesitation, Batman grappled onto a nearby pipe, narrowly avoiding Croc as he hurtled past Batman, into a different wall. Killer Croc was currently stunned, but he wouldn't be like that for long. Acting quickly, Batman pulled out his high voltage taser and upon pulling the trigger, sent two electrified cords into Killer Crocs tough skin. The man/creature screamed in agony before collapsing to the floor. Not wanting to make the same mistake he made with Croc, Batman quickly scanned the surrounding area for Clayface or Two-Face. He saw Dent, but he was surrounded by his guards, which would be dealt with later. Clayface on the other hand was no where in sight. Luckily, Batman had accounted for this and had created scanners that would scan pipes, vents, people, and more for Clayfaces unique vitals. Tapping a tiny button by where his ear would be, his vision turned blue and he looked around for his target. As it turned out, Clayface was directly underneath the guards waiting to pounce on Batman when he got to them. There was no way to get to Clayface so Batman decided to spring the trap. Using the Batmobile remote, he drove it straight into the room and began shooting the guards with rubber bullets. He then set it to auto pilate, which meant it would shoot at anything that was not Batman. He then dropped down from his hiding place and amidst all the commotion, went unnoticed by everyone. Using the shadows and smoke to his advantage, he stealthily made his way to the vent Clayface was in. He proceeded to pull out his taser and then kicked the cover off and electrocuted Clayface. However, there was no reaction from the pile of mud. As a matter of fact, Clayface wasn't moving at all. He looked...dead. Batman would deal with this later as he currently had a friend to save. The Batmobile had effectively taken everyone out with ease and the room was filled with moans and groans here and there. Batman allowed a little smirk of pride to appear at his handiwork, but he quickly removed it as the job was not completed.
Batman walked towards the door at the end of the room he was in and kicked it open. He figured his cover was already blown so it wouldn't make a difference. Inside this room was Harley Quinn and the Joker. He had a few thugs with him but they wouldn't be difficult to take out. In the center of the room was a rusted steel cage that had Hawkgirl in it. She was badly beaten. Gashes and bruises littered the visible parts of her body and the floor around her was covered with blood. He was beginning to doubt she was still alive.
"I see the Big Bat came out to play! AHAHAHAHA."
Batman took a step closer to the Joker but stopped as the maniac pulled out a gun, clocked it, and pointed the barrel at Shayera.
"TAKE ANOTHER STEP AND I'LL BLOW HER BRAINS OUT."
"Let her go Joker."
"Y'know, I think I'd like to continue this another time Bats. Here's what we'll do. I'll take the birdy and assemble another team and we'll meet at another spot! Then you'll have to take them out and save the little Hawk again! How does that sound ol sport?"
"Hmm. I like it...but it would just be easier to save her now."
As he was saying this, Batman pulled out a batarang and threw it at the hand holding the gun. With precise aim, it slashed the Joker's wrist, effectively making him drop the gun. However, as it hit the floor, it discharged, shooting one of the goons...dead. This shocked everyone, including Batman, but he snapped out of it quicker than anyone else and leaped towards the Joker and slammed his head into the cage. He then roundhouse kicked Harley stunning her for a bit before he judo flipped her and then used her oversized male my to knock her out cold. With incredible speed, he then threw a few smokebombs and using the lack of vision to his advantage, he finished the other guards off. Taking a nearby rope, he dragged all the crooks next to each other and tied them up before calling the GCPD to clean up the mess. With the threat neutralized, Batman turned his attention to the winged woman who appeared to be knocked out still. He snapped the look and opened the door. Gently picking her up, he walked to the Batmobile and laid Shayera down in the back seats. Batman then walked to where Clayface was and scooped him up into a container so that he could examine his cause of death later. Tossing it in the trunk, Batman jumped into the drivers seat of the car and drove off to the Batcave.
Batman had succeeded yet again against the crooks he knew oh so well.
