A/N: READ THIS. PLEASE!!
This is an interlude chapter showing the POV of Lucius Malfoy. I will have an interlude going into the POVs of other characters at the start of every Part till Part IV. (At the start of every new school year). Mostly so that people aren't completely bewildered as to what the fuck is going on.
One Part will be one School Year at Hogwarts and the summer before it. So, the last 10 chapters were Part I. The next 10 will be Part II, and so on till Part IV starts. I don't know how many chapters that's going to be, but it's gonna be higher than 10.
This Part will also go into how my version of the Chamber Of Secrets is different from canon.
Also, I forgot to add this for the last chapter's A/N. The reason Ginny and Harry are taught the Severing Charm is because, in my AU, it does not work on humans. Oh, it will hurt them if used (I'm not specifying how here. It will be shown later), but it won't tear the skin open.
The reason Ginny didn't fire the hex at Harry's neck was that he was already being choked to death and she didn't want to risk a permanent injury.
The Cutting Curse exists (Not Sectumsempra. I've got another one). And Harry and Ginny will learn it, eventually. But it's not taught at Hogwarts, at all (For obvious reasons).
The reason for splitting them is because I think Wizards would have come up with Spell that allows you to tear objects without hurting yourself
Tom Riddle's backstory (Yes, he has one) will be revealed to you in Second Year. Harry learning it will happen later. Much later. I'm talking End of Year 5 (Chapter 50 probably).
Also, for the people that read the story before. I edited the part where Jessica left. My plans for her character changed. I'm so sorry for this. Hope you understand. Thank you.
Nothing changes Plot wise, I'm just changing the paragraph where I mentioned her leaving. Here it is if you wanna know.
"Jessica did come back, but she was still depressed and distant. Harry, Devon, and Ginny tried helping her, but sometimes, despite her being right next to them, it was as though they were speaking to a Ghost." -Chapter 9 Christmas, A Dragon, and A Dark Lord.
There's also a mention of her sitting in the train compartment with Devon and the rest of the Slytherin Quidditch team.
Sorry for rambling. I hope you enjoy this Chapter and the next 9 chapters too.
HP: A Re-Telling
Part II: The Chamber Of Secrets.
June 24th, 1991
Lucius Malfoy sighed as he made his way out of the Auror Headquarters Wing at the Ministry Of Magic.
He was in deep trouble this time.
John Dawlish had just informed him that the Muggle-Loving bastards at the Department of Magical Law Enforcement were getting ready to launch a Raid at his Manor. What was worse, was that the raid was led by Arthur fucking Weasley.
It was no secret that the Malfoys and Weasleys hated each other. It had been this way for generations. But Arthur and Lucius took it to new heights.
Especially after Lucius had imperiused Arthur during the last War.
Despite all this, Lucius had to admit that Arthur Weasley was a formidable opponent. He'd broken through Lucius' imperius within a month. Sure, Sirius Black had helped him.
But he'd broken through.
He would bet money on the fact that the Crabbes, Goyles, and Notts had already been Raided. The question, however, remained whether or not the DMLE found anything.
Lucius would have to play carefully this time around. Even the smallest of slip-ups could leave his Family in shambles.
He also needed to get on Harry Potter's good side. Getting arrested would absolutely ruin all of that.
It was no secret that Potter had loads of Power. He could even do Wandless Magic if his son was to be believed. And he had defeated the Dark Lord as an infant.
An infant.
Many of the Death Eaters hoped and believed that Harry Potter would become a Dark Lord, someone new they could rally around. A New Hope for the Purebloods. Just because James Potter- a Pureblood- made a mistake in marrying a Mudblood didn't mean Harry Potter would be shunned for it. No, the Death Eaters would welcome him with open arms, serve him, and help him take over. Such was his value.
Their hopes only strengthened when he was sorted into Slytherin.
He was reportedly a cold-hearted boy who didn't care for anyone else's company. Exceptions to this behavior were the Weasley and Creed girls, and a Mudblood, but they were only children. They could grow out of their friendship. Besides, Theodore Nott Sr apparently had a plan for them.
Theo had called him this morning. He'd tipped him off about the raid, and told him to go speak to John Dawlish. Then he'd told Lucius to meet him at Nott Manor
But, right now, Lucius had to go home to get all the Dark Artefacts out of his Mansion.
He entered the Atrium and met the eyes of Arthur Weasley. Normally, he would've made a rude comment. As he was short on time, he settled for a sneer and a glare. Arthur simply looked at him with revulsion and pity. Like he always did. And again, Lucius had the desire to hex that expression off his face.
Seeing Arthur brought another piece of information to the front of his mind; Harry Potter was spending the summer at the Weasleys.
Lucius sighed when Arthur had walked past him. If only Draco had a bit more tact and cunning, he could've broken Weasley and Potter's friendship before it even began, on the Hogwarts Express.
As it was, his son only had Ambitions. Lucius loved his family, his wife, and his child, but he couldn't help but wonder if he should get a Paternity test at St.Mungos to check whether or not Draco was actually his and Narcissa's son.
He made his way to the nearby Apparition point and spun on his heel. He apparated into an alley directly above the Ministry of Magic and walked forward toward the London streets.
He got quite a few weird looks for his choice of clothes but he didn't give a flying Hippogriff's shit. He was a Wizard and proud of it. He walked a few more steps forward and crossed the street, mindful of the monstrosities called "cars".
He entered a townhouse that was used as a Death Eater Safehouse/Prison in the last War. It had a portal to Malfoy Manor, courtesy of the Dark Lord. Lucius frequented this place because he didn't want to give away his home address to everyone, which would happen if he used the Floo. As far as he knew, Apparition was untraceable. But who knew what the hell the Unspeakables got up to down in the Department of Mysteries.
Entering the empty basement, he tapped his wand on a brick at the far side wall. He traced an outline of the Dark Mark with his wand, and the wall shimmered. The bricks began moving, and a white light could be seen in the empty space.
The white light faded and the hallway of Malfoy Manor could be seen now. He stepped in and the Portal automatically closed behind him. He was grateful for this favor. A Portal was a rare Magical artefact. Creating one was extremely difficult and required a very good understanding of runes. To have one for your home was an honor beyond many others.
He came into the large sitting room, wanting to find his wife, and assure her that he would take care of everything and that they would be fine. He could and would keep aside his fascination with Dark Artefacts to protect his Family.
He found her sitting on one of the armchairs, Draco's Transfiguration homework in her hands, and her beautiful blonde hair falling around her like a curtain.
"How did it go?" Narcissa asked, getting up and greeting him with a brief kiss that promised more for later.
"We will be fine. They are planning a Raid, but I will go and sell the Artefacts right now." He said. She already knew about his meeting, so he didn't really have much else to tell her.
"Good," She said, breathing a sigh of relief.
"Where is Draco?" He asked.
"Outside. I was just going over his homework." Narcissa said.
"And?"
"It needs work," Narcissa admitted. "His Transfiguration, that is. His theory is perfect. He just struggles with the application, it's the same with Charms."
Lucius sighed. That sounded a lot like him when he was younger. Before he came into the Dark Lord's service. Before he met Narcissa.
"Stop it." His wife said.
"Stop what?" He asked innocently. She just narrowed her eyes at him. "Okay, fine. I'll stop thinking about it."
"Good. Because it's not your fault."
"Narcissa-" Lucius started.
"No," She interrupted him firmly, "Not another word. I spoiled him just as much as you did. We should've been more strict, but he's the only child I've been able to carry without a miscarriage…"
"Narci-"
She shook her head. "My point being, that you are not the only one to blame. I share it too. Like everything else."
"But," She continued, "We cannot let it continue. We have to put a stop to it. And those Merlin-forbidden rants about Harry Potter being better at Magic than a Malfoy."
He chuckled. Their son had been going on and on about Harry Potter, and not in the way the rest of the children would. Lucius suspected there was more to it than mere jealousy, but he didn't know.
"We will talk to him, then?" He asked.
She nodded. "But you need to go… run your errand first."
He nodded and kissed her. He left the room and went down to the secret door in his basement that he hid with a Concealment Charm. It could be detected by a Secrecy Sensor, but he wasn't worried about that. At first sight, it only held Elven Wine and Firewhiskey, but there was a trapdoor, hidden under a rug by non-magical means. Under the trapdoor were his life's collections of Dark Artefacts.
He took out a trunk and nudged it with his foot. It grew in size and Lucius opened it. "Pack," He called. One by one, the objects started flying into the Trunk. It was Magically expanded, so he wasn't worried about space.
Once everything was in, he shrunk and pocketed the Trunk, then climbed back upstairs, before closing the door. He took out the hinges, screws, and handle of the trapdoor, along with any piece that didn't match the wood flooring, then took out a potion his wife had created, before putting it in the holes. The liquid would turn into the same material as the surrounding wood, and no one would be able to detect it. His wife truly was a genius. Another reason he felt that she should start a Potion company, but she didn't want to, so he didn't push her.
He quickly covered the floor with the rug and left the Manor via the Portal. Exiting the townhouse into London, he found himself an alley off the street where he conjured a mirror, and started transfiguring himself.
Once he was satisfied with his disguise, he vanished his conjured mirror and disapparated to Knockturn Alley.
He apparated to Knockturn Alley, near Borgin and Burkes, and made his way to the shop.
Upon entering, he was greeted by the shopkeeper, Borgin. "Good afternoon, Mr. Malfoy. It has been a while. What can I do for you?"
Lucius just nodded, not at all surprised that Borgin had seen through his disguise. He was walking with his cane now, after all. "I have a need to sell my… Artefacts."
Borgin's eyes went wide at hearing that, Lucius noted with some satisfaction. His personal collection was well known among places like Knockturn Alley.
"Weasley's coming after you too?"
Lucius' lip curled in distaste, but he nodded anyway. "Can we have a private meeting?" He asked.
"Of course," Borgin said and made a long wand motion. The shutters and door immediately closed, and the lamps lit up. "No one else is here." He added.
Lucius pulled out his trunk and gave it to Borgin, "See how much you can give me for this."
Borgin quickly took the trunk and inspected the contents for around twenty minutes. They spent a few more minutes negotiating, but when it was all done, Lucius was 50,000 galleons richer.
Lucius disapparated to Nott Manor. Lucius had always been slightly jealous of this one. It felt like a home in ways Malfoy Manor could never be. Sure, Malfoy Manor was far more expensive, but still…
He entered through the front gate and waved to Theo Nott Sr. Theo waved back and led him to the cliff near his manor that overlooked the sea.
"I have a plan to cause some… fun, this year at Hogwarts," Theo said.
"Oh?" Lucius asked, appreciating the fact that Theo Nott was a straightforward man.
"Have you ever heard of the Chamber of Secrets?" Theo asked.
"Of course, I… Oh. OH!" Lucius cried. This was bad. What was Nott thinking? It was rumored that a monster lived in the Chamber of Secrets. At Hogwarts. The same School not only his, but Theo's own son attended. It was one of the reasons he didn't want to send Draco there, but Narcissa had put her foot down. Now he wished he hadn't listened to her and just sent Draco to Durmstrang instead.
"I know what you're thinking, our children go there, I must have lost my mind to even suggest this. How am I doing?" Nott asked.
"Fairly well," Lucius said dryly.
Theo nodded, as though he was expecting this. "Trust me, Lucius, our children will not be harmed. The Heir of Slytherin will see to that. He has also assured me that he will take out all of Potter's friends."
Lucius' eyebrow raised in disbelief. "You expect me to believe that you have spoken to the heir?"
Theo nodded. "I have. From a certain point of view."
"What?" Lucius asked, completely perplexed.
"He asked me not to reveal too much," Nott said. "But I can give you a warning. I have opened the Chamber of Secrets using its key. But that's not enough. To activate it, you need the key and… a gift. One neither you nor I possess. I have kept the key there and made the preparations regardless, so I am warning you. If the Chamber opens, tell your son to stick to the Dungeons. I have told my son the same thing."
"How will he know if it has opened?" Lucius asked. He didn't know if he could convince Theo to tell him more. But if his son's safety was concerned, he'd take whatever the fuck he could.
"Trust me, he'll know," Nott said. "Do not worry Lucius, the… Monster will only harm Mudbloods. All Purebloods except the Creed girl are safe from it. The Heir wants the Weasley girl to himself, though. And before you ask, I do not know why."
Lucius nodded, "Thank you, Theo."
"Of course, my friend," Nott said and started walking toward his Manor. Lucius took his lead and disapparated, hoping that the Chamber would stay closed. He wasn't sympathetic to the Mudbloods, but he was worried about his son, accidents happened all the time, after all. He also wondered how the hell he'd get his son to listen.
A/N: Hopefully you enjoyed that Chapter. Leave a review if you did.
I hope I captured Lucius well, if I didn't, then here's an outline for ya,
He's not evil like Voldemort, but he's not a good person either (Death Eater remember?). But, as I mentioned, he loves his family, even his son. And he would do anything for them. And I mean anything.
This has always been my headcanon for Lucius and the Malfoy family in general. They're evil bastards but they love each other.
Sorry for the spam updates earlier. I was editing and correcting mistakes. Once I published it, I would find new ones, and so on.
Thanks for reading this so far. I haven't written anything about Harry and Ginny at the Burrow yet. That will take time since I'm gonna be a little busy. I'll try to get it out this weekend at the latest.
Byeee!!
