Leah:
I woke up the next morning extremely disoriented. I slammed my hand down on my buzzing alarm clock and groaned loudly. The previous day was intertwining with my strange vivid dreams and making it incredibly difficult to determine what was reality. I needed Edward to help me distinguish fact from fiction because to me it all currently felt like fiction. I reached for my cell phone and yanked it free from its cord, pulling it under the blanket with me.
I dialed his number without a second thought. He answered after two rings and I smiled widely, feeling more grounded already.
"Goodmorning?" He mumbled curiously. Despite the quiet tone of his voice he sounded completely alert.
"Are you sleeping?" I stage-whispered into the receiver.
"I actually can't sleep." He whispered back, sounding amused now.
"Ever?"
"Ever."
"Oh. Uh, okay that's cool. Or maybe it's not? I'm not sure how I would feel about that." I muttered thoughtfully.
"It's incredibly boring actually." He chuckled. "Not that I mind in the slightest but was there a reason for your call this morning? Don't you have school?"
"Honestly I just wanted to remind myself that you're not a figment of my imagination." I said, twisting the ends of my hair between two fingers. "And shouldn't you also have school, junior?" I teased.
"It's going to be sunny today, so I won't be attending."
"Will you melt?" I whispered extra quietly.
His laugh boomed through the speaker and hurt my ear drum. I grinned widely at the sound.
"Why don't you come see for yourself?" He beckoned.
"I'll try, no promises though. My mom is actually much scarier than any of the supernatural beings around these parts."
"That honestly explains a lot."
Just like I figured, my attempts to get out of school were hopelessly futile. Cousin in a medically induced coma or no- Seth and I were off to school by 7:30 as usual. When I pulled into my spot Seth jumped quickly out of the car, running to join his group of friends. I pulled my phone out and typed a message to Edward.
Sorry. I did try. Maybe you can show me after school?
I really hoped he would, I was insanely curious. His response came quickly.
I'll be here. Meet me at our spot when you can.
School hadn't ever been my favorite place to be but on that particular day it was hell on Earth. The minutes moved like hours, the hours like full days. I never thought it would end but soon the bell rang in my last class for the day. Usually I used the last two periods I had free this year to do homework or read in the library but instead I texted Seth and told him to find his own way home because I had plans.
I all but ran to the parking lot and threw my stuff into the back seat of my car. I turned the radio up loudly and sang along to every song I knew to make the drive go by faster. When I pulled into the now familiar parking lot Edward's car was the only other one. I parked next to it, gathering my things and locking the doors before climbing into his passenger seat.
There he was looking more perfect in a plain black hoodie than any person had the right to. He was hesitating again, reaching towards me slightly without actually making contact. I rolled my eyes and grabbed his face with both my hands before covering his lips with mine excitedly. I felt him smile and his arms slid themselves around my waist, pulling me closer. I pushed my hands up into his hair and he pulled back to suck in a ragged breath before trailing soft kisses down my jawline to my neck. I gasped softly when his cold lips touched the sensitive spot above my collarbone, and he groaned in response before unraveling himself from me completely.
"I'm sorry Leah, I didn't mean to behave so disrespectfully." Edward said, though the wild look in his eyes had not quite faded.
I smiled and shook my head. "I'm not sorry." I shrugged before buckling my seatbelt and turning towards him expectantly.
"Okay let's go, I'm dying to see this."
