Maura and Kate's Birthday 2022
"Hmmm, I like that." Maura said as Jane layered kisses all over her wife's body. Jane didn't say anything she just kept kissing Maura. "What time is it?" Maura asked, curious as she couldn't see light coming into their bedroom.
Jane looked at her phone and replied, "It is just after 4 AM. The children will be here around 7. I thought I could show you how much I love you before they get here."
"I thought that is what you were doing last night." Maura said as she moved so she could kiss Jane. Jane enjoyed waking Maura up this way whenever she could get away with it. With four children under the age of nine in the house, it didn't happen as often as she would like.
"Oh, that was just the appetizer. I still have lots of love to show you. Today is your birthday and I am so happy you were born. I love you so much and want to continue showing you." Jane said as she positioned Maura underneath her. Jane tickled her and they were laughing together. They carried on for hours before Jane's phone rang. Jane wanted to ignore it. She could tell from the ring tone that it was her mother. She continued to let it ring and the call went to voicemail and then the ringing started all over again.
"Jane she is probably going to keep calling until you answer the phone." Maura stated in between kisses as she reached for the cell phone and handed it to Jane.
"But I don't want to stop making love with you. I don't want the interruption." Jane pouted as she continued to kiss Maura. As much as Maura was enjoying the assault of kisses, she knew the children were with Angela and they needed to answer the phone.
Sensing that Jane wasn't going to answer the phone, she did. "Good morning, Angela." Maura said as she answered Jane's cell phone.
"Happy birthday Maura!" Angela replied as the children shouted birthday wishes to their mommy in the background. "The children are excited that it is yours and Kate's birthday today and they want to come home and make you breakfast. What do you think about that?"
"That sounds like a lovely idea." Maura could see Jane frowning in the background. She knew that Jane wanted to keep making love with her.
"Is my daughter awake and acknowledging your birthday or did she forget?" Angela asked as Maura laughed.
"Oh, Angela, Jane has not forgotten my birthday, and yes she is awake. I guess we will see you in about half an hour." Maura replied as she ended the call and then turned to Jane who was laying on her back with a pillow over her head. "Jane, the children and your mother will be here in about half an hour. We need to get up and take a shower."
Jane removed the pillow from her face and sat up in the bed, "Together?"
"Yes, Jane we can take a shower together but we have to be quick I don't want to be in the shower still when they arrive. We have Kate's birthday party at two this afternoon. So, we have about ten four-year olds coming over to my parent's house for the party."
"Oh yeah, that is right, we celebrate you in the morning and Kate in the afternoon. I like to celebrate you like this, naked in our bed." Jane smirked.
"Yes, I enjoy our morning celebrations but we don't want to be caught again. Do you?"
"No, and I believe MJ was too young to be traumatized by seeing us naked in bed together he was only a little over one and a half. I didn't realize he could crawl out of his crib like that. He is a smart boy."
"Yes, he is and I don't want our four children rushing in and finding us naked in the shower together."
"Maur, you were taking showers with Kate until she was two, so she has seen you in the shower naked before."
"Yes, she has but that was over two years ago. She is four now and we have to be careful. Besides she has never seen the two of us naked in the shower at the same time before."
"Oh, you are such a party pooper sometimes. You take all the fun away from me." Jane said with a pout.
"Jane, I think we were having plenty of fun until 1 AM and then you woke me up a little after 4 AM, so I think we have had some fun without the children. Cailin and Hope are taking them next weekend so we can have additional adult time then."
Jane smirked at her as she said, "I can't wait. You better make sure you get plenty of sleep this next week because you are all mine next weekend and I want to take advantage of every minute."
"Shower Jane!" With that said Maura climbed out of bed and went into the bathroom. She had the water on before Jane even got out of bed. Jane wasn't far behind. They had just arrived downstairs when the front door opened and the children ran to Maura to give her birthday kisses. Jane smiled, she loved how loving their children were.
Kate's eyes were big as saucers when she saw the two tierras on the kitchen island. "Are those for me and mommy?" Jane nodded and walked over and picked up the smaller tierra and placed it on Kate's head. Kate hugged and kissed her mama. "Thank you, mama but mommy needs hers."
Jane reached over and picked up the larger tierra and walked over to Maura with Princess Kate in tow. Jane leaned down and whispered to Kate, "Would you like to place the tierra on mommy's head? I can help you."
"Yes mama, please." Kate told Jane as Jane handed the tierra to Kate and picked her up so she could place the tierra on Maura's head. After she placed the tierra firmly on Maura's head she said, "Mommy," as she held out her hands so that Maura would take her from Jane. As Kate found her way into Maura's arms, Jane adjusted Maura's tierra. Maura kissed Kate all over her face as she told her 'Happy Birthday.' Kate just laughed and asked to be put down. She had enough birthday kisses for now and wanted to go play until breakfast.
Meanwhile Angela had gone to the kitchen to start making breakfast for the family. She knew that Kate wanted bunny pancakes with blueberries in them. She had picked up some fresh blueberries at the farmer's market yesterday with the children. They had also picked up some strawberries and peaches that they had washed and cut up last night in preparation for breakfast this morning.
Maura always made sure the children had fresh fruit. Jane still hid her cereal boxes in the cupboard. She thought that Maura didn't know about them, but Maura had discovered their hiding space one day while she was reorganizing the cupboards. She knew she couldn't stop Jane from eating cereal, she just didn't want the children thinking that was breakfast every morning. They let the children have cereal on special occasions.
Constance and Arthur were having Kate's party catered. There would be bounce houses and magicians to entertain the children. They loved celebrating the children's birthdays. She always thought it was so special that Maura and Kate shared a birthday.
Kate had told Constance last year, "We celebrate mommy's birthday in the morning and mine in the afternoon and we never have clowns. Mommy and I don't like clowns. So please do not ever have clowns at our birthday parties." Constance had asked Jane and Maura about what Kate had told her and they agreed that it sounded like a fair arrangement. They celebrated both of them in the evening and there were never any clowns invited to any of their celebrations.
Once Angela had the bunny pancakes ready, she had MJ, AJ and Lilly help her place the fruit and drinks on the table. The children had already set the table. When everything was on the table MJ walked into the living room where the birthday girls were and bowed and told them, "My ladies your breakfast is served. Please follow me." Maura and Kate smiled at him and followed him into the dining room. Jane pulled out Maura's chair and AJ pulled out Kate's chair. Everybody sat down and ate their breakfast.
After breakfast Jane, Maura and Kate went into the living room while the rest of the family cleaned up from breakfast. They quickly loaded the dishwasher and then joined Jane, Maura and Kate in the living room where the children presented Maura and Kate with handmade birthday cards. Angela had set up the video camera so she could tape the presentation for Constance and Arthur to watch later.
Maura's card was huge. It was about two feet tall and each of the children had space to draw something on the inside. The outside was a cartoon version of a family picture. She loved it. "This is such a beautiful card, thank you!" She hugged and kissed each of the children.
Kate's card was just a little bit smaller and everyone had drawn on it as well, even Jane and Maura. "Thank you, my card is beautiful also." Kate gave everybody hugs and kisses also. She then sat on Jane's lap and said, "Now we get to the good stuff." Jane and Maura just looked at each other and then at Kate. "Presents mommy, presents."
With a huge smile Jane pulled out an envelope and handed it to Maura. "What is this, love?"
"Open it and see for yourself." Jane replied.
"Yeah, mommy, open it. I wanna see what mama got you." Kate said as she clapped her hands.
"Okay, let me open it and find out." Maura carefully opened the envelope and discovered tickets to the Opera in New York. She smiled at Jane. She quietly read the note. 'This coupon is good for one weekend get away with your wife, your leave request has already been submitted and the reservations have been made already.' "Thank you, Jane, I love it."
"What is it mommy?" Kate asked.
"It is tickets to the Opera in New York for me and mama. Your mama knows that I love this one particular Opera and she got me tickets to go see it at one of my favorite places."
"But what about me, I like the Opera, I can go to the Opera with you." Kate said with a small frown on her face. Maura looked at Jane who pulled another envelope out of her pocket. She reached over and placed one finger on Kate's chin and raised Kate's chin up to look at her.
"Kate, here little one this is our birthday present to you." Jane said as she presented the envelope to Kate.
"What is it, mama?" Kate asked. She was very curious and still a little upset that she doesn't get to go to the Opera with her mothers.
"You will have to open up the envelope to find out little one." Jane told her as Kate took the envelope from her.
Kate smiled as she opened the envelope. "It's tickets to an Opera."
"Yes, little one for you and five other people. You do not have to take both Mommy and me but you must take one of us."
"Can I take MJ, AJ and Lilly?" Kate asked with such excitement. She loved to do things with her siblings. She loved to share with them. Jane and Maura loved that about her. She was so giving and caring.
"Of course, you can take anyone you want in addition to either me or mommy." Jane informed her. She wanted to make sure that Kate knew that she had to take one of her mothers.
Kate turned to her siblings, "Would you like to go with me, mommy and mama to an Opera?" They all nodded 'yes' to Kate. They had all been to an Opera with Jane and Maura and had enjoyed it. Maura always tried to select an Opera that the children would enjoy. She wanted to make sure the children were well educated in the Arts.
MJ asked, "Which Opera is it?"
Kate looked to Jane and she mouthed "Cinderella." Kate replied, "Mama said another word but I can't pronounce it but she told me it is a version of Cinderella."
"Thank you. I just wanted to make sure I would enjoy it. I am looking forward to going. Mommy, what would you like to do before lunch? It is your time right now." MJ asked.
"I think I would like to sit down and watch a movie with my family. Would you like to do that?" Maura asked MJ.
"I would mommy. I love to watch movies with you and mama, AJ, Lilly and Kate." MJ replied as he walked over and gave his mommy a hug. They all walked down to the basement so they could watch something on the big 85 inch screen. They all sat down. Jane sat next to Maura and Kate climbed up in her lap. Lilly climbed up in Maura's lap with AJ beside her snuggled into Maura's side. MJ sat next to Jane so he could be close to 'his Katy.'
Angela said her goodbyes and that she would see them later at Kate's party. She wanted to get over and help Constance and Arthur with Kate's party. She knew it was being catered but she also knew that Constance and Arthur were not to up to date on all of the latest things for children so she wanted to help.
Jane turned on the TV and selected Netflix. She went to the 'For Kids' login. They reviewed the Top 10 selections and decided to watch the movie 'Sea Beast.' It was almost two hours. Jane asked, "Do we want popcorn before the movie starts?" She knew what the answer was going to be, and sure enough everybody nodded yes. She asked Kate, "Would you like to help me make the popcorn?"
"Yes, mama, I would." Jane got up and put Kate on her shoulders and proceeded to go to the kitchen area to pop the popcorn. A little over ten minutes later she and Kate returned with the popcorn. MJ had retrieved drinks for everyone while the popcorn was popping. Jane was thankful for that or she would have had to go retrieve the drinks after she passed out the popcorn.
About half way through the movie Kate was sound asleep in Jane's lap. She was curled up in her mama. That was the way she liked to sleep when she was on Jane's lap. Jane didn't mind at all she loved to have Kate snuggled up to her. She repositioned her a little so that she was comfortable and then she leaned into Maura to finish watching the movie. It was probably best that Kate took a nap before her party as she would need the energy to keep up with her nine little preschool friends that were coming over.
The children that were coming over had been in the same class with Kate for the last two years of preschool and would stay in her class when school started back up on the first of September. Kate loved going to school and loved making new friends. Jane and Maura had picked a preschool for all of the children that had a class size of only ten students. The teacher and aide were able to keep a better watch over the children and able to teach them various subjects throughout the day. Kate loved art, it was her favorite subject in school.
After the movie ended the family moved back upstairs and Jane pulled out the light lunch that her mother had prepared for them before she left. Jane was so thankful for her mother. After they cleaned up from lunch the children changed clothes and got ready for Kate's party.
They arrived at the Isles' house at 1 PM and the children immediately went in to say hello to their grandparents. Before they reached the door Kate turned around and went back for her mommies. "Mommy, I will walk with you. It's our birthday and we should do things together." Maura was touched by the niceness displayed by Kate. Kate took Maura's hand and started walking. Jane just smiled and was pleased when Kate turned around and said, "Come on mama, you need to celebrate with us." Kate reached for Jane's hand and she walked in between her mothers as they entered the house.
"There's my birthday girls." Constance stated as she took in the view of her daughter and granddaughter walking in the front door. Kate released Maura's hand and ran up to her grandma.
"Hello, grand-mére." Kate hugged her and Constance gave her a great big hug and kiss. As Maura approached, she hugged and kissed Maura as well and then did the same with Jane. The final preparations were taking place as Constance wanted to make sure everything was ready by 1:30 PM even though the party didn't start until 2 PM. One thing she did know is that little children were often inpatient and she wanted to be able to start the party as soon as all the children were present.
Shortly before two the party started. The magician was up first. He performed magic tricks for them for about 20 minutes and then the children were turned loose to have their faces painted and to play in the bouncy house. They played there for about an hour and played pin the tail on the donkey and then attacked the pinata. The children really enjoyed whacking the pinata. They were on their second go round of striking the pinata when it broke and candy went flying. The children had fun picking up all the candy. That had taken about half an hour and then they sat down for cake and ice cream.
This was Kate's favorite part of the party, well okay her second favorite, she really loved opening presents. Kate had selected a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. Maura had asked for some strawberries to be included in the center filling of the cake. Kate wasn't sure about that at first but when Maura took her to taste the cake she approved. To offset the chocolate, they had vanilla ice cream. Everybody was having a great time. After they finished the cake and ice cream, Kate opened up all of her gifts that her friends had brought for her. She loved the gifts, most of them were Star Wars toys. Jane loved that almost as much as Kate did.
After the last gift was opened and Kate said all her thank yous she said, "Okay, now it is pool time. Let's go swimming." All the kids took off their clothes to reveal their swimwear and jumped in the pool. They splashed around and had fun until their parents came and picked them up. By 5 PM all the guests had left and now it was back to family time. It was time to celebrate both of the birthday girls together.
The rest of the Rizzolis and extended family arrived about 5:30 PM and the combined birthday party began. The caterers had switched out the meals trays and everyone enjoyed a nice Italian meal at around 6 PM.
At 7 PM Constance and Arthur presented Maura and Kate with their gifts. They gave Maura and all-expense week long paid trip to Paris for the family to include child care so that Jane and Maura could go out and enjoy the night life. For Kate, they gave her a new bike. Kate had picked it out a few months back and let her grand-mére know which one she wanted. Constance loved that about the children, they were not shy at all about telling her what they wanted in the way of presents. Most of their requests had been reasonable.
After talking with Constance and Arthur about a gift for Maura they decided that Angela would chip in on the Paris trip. Kate had let her nonna know what she wanted in the way of safety gear so she had given Kate a new helmet and pads for her new bike.
Kate was so excited she grabbed her mama's hand and said, "Mama, we gotta go try it out. Come on." How could Jane refuse. She walked with Kate and the new bike out to the driveway where Kate hopped on and started riding her new bike. All the other children went to the garage and Arthur helped them get their bikes out so they could join Kate.
All eight of the Rizzoli grandchildren were out their riding bikes having a great time along with the other children. They took turns sharing the bikes except for Kate, she wasn't going to let anybody ride her bike. Well, she would let her mama or mommy but no one else. Jane was saddened to tell her that she was too big to ride it but she appreciated the offer. Angela, Constance, and Arthur all watched as the grandchildren had fun. Jane, Maura, and the other parents came out after about half an hour and joined the excitement. They could all feel the love that the extended family shared. Maura had a huge smile on her face, meaning Maura was extremely happy. It was a nice way to conclude her 42nd birthday.
