Damian couldn't take his eyes off the monitor. Daru was in there fighting Rhea. Damian and Finn had been banned from ringside for this match. Finn and Rhea both knew how Damian felt about Daru. One day he was going to work up the courage and tell her.
"What is it about her that has you so enthralled?" Finn asked.
How could Damian even begin to answer that question? He knew Finn didn't come from a mean heart when he asked that question. Finn saw Daru as a friend too. He just didn't understand why Damian was so head over heels in love with her.
He could say it was her long, silver blonde hair. It had the slightest of waves to it. She loved to put in a few braids to keep it from falling in her face during her matches. It always flew around wildly or framed her face perfectly.
He could say it was her dark blue eyes. Such a deep and rich blue. He felt like he was out in the open ocean with no land in sight. Just swimming in that beautiful ocean without being able to see anything else but her. As if she was a magical mermaid.
He could say it was the way she dressed. She hated bags and would go out of her way to find dresses with pockets in them. He always complimented her on her outfits. Her eyes always beamed when she thanked him, put her hands in the pockets, and loudly proclaimed that it indeed had pockets. It was the cutest sight everytime.
He could say it was her scent. She always smelled like a morning walk in a pine forest. It was that vague scent of pine along with some sort of flower that he had yet to figure out. He loved that scent on her.
He could say it was the way she didn't care about what others thought of how she looked when they all went out. Where some of the other women would go all in with clothes and makeup, she just wore whatever she felt like, and makeup seemed like a city on another continent to her. On rare occasions she would wear mascara but that was it.
He could say it was the way she always seemed to be everybody's best friend. Rhea had told them how well liked Daru was in the women's locker room. She treated everyone right, and all the women liked her. So did all the men.
He could say it was her heart that always overflowed with love for animals. She had adopted three dogs from a shelter. Smaller dogs that reached to her knees. Just a mix of breeds so no one could guess what was in them. All males. She had named them Huey, Dewey and Louie which again was something he found cute. And even with her busy schedule and having three dogs of her own, she still drove to the shelter she adopted them from and did free work everytime she had a day off.
He could pick one of those things or try and explain all of them one by one. He could even say one of the other hundred reasons that made her almost perfect in his eyes. In the end nothing would summon it up completely. Instead he turned to look at Finn, smiled at his friend, and said the only word that made sense.
"Everything."
