Some might say they are the complete opposite. Day and night. Light and dark. Warm and cold.
If asked, or pointed out, they would shrug with a faint smile.
They have completely different spheres of interest most of the time. They have different approaches to situations sometimes. They have different ways of carrying themselves.
As much as they seem to contradict each other, they would agree that the commonality between them is too great to ignore.
The differences among them are not something they have come to tolerate, though.
They have come to love those differences. Seeking the warmth of the other's voice. The realization they brought to each other.
The warmth Raven sees in Starfire that was inside her, too, all along.
Raven's appreciation for solitude that Starfire came to realize that she, too, cherishes. Needs.
The understanding of what makes them such great heroines, what makes them; what drives their powers.
When you are both in a line of an everyday job that requires control over your emotion and that job is one with you… a silent understanding is expected.
Opposite attracts.
They are different. That is clear.
Aren't most people?
What is the opposite of most people?
Are they still the opposite when they look at one another and find fragments of themselves?
Their motives and backgrounds tie them together. Those are huge parts of them, despite their little differences.
There are many differences between them. But what they have in common they embrace greatly.
Raven jolts and almost drops her teaspoon onto the dinner table.
She feels pair of arms hugging her midsection, follows by a soft laugh from someone and a whiff of passionfruit perfume.
"Starfire."
The arms tighten.
"Forgive me, Raven. It is a special occasion."
"Starfire—"
Starfire rests her head on Raven's shoulder. Her red hair brushes and tickles Raven's cheek as the violet-haired girl tries to wiggle her way out of the hug.
But she stops as she hears the next sentence. Then just sits there until the princess feels to finally let go.
"Happy sister's day, Raven."
A/N: Short appreciation for my beloved heroines. In a lot of ways my personality is them mixed together. Re-watching the series, I realized they are the two most relatable Titans for me. Please don't cringe when I say: Girlbosses!
