Camilo sighed, looking through Magical Theory. In just two weeks, he'd start his first year at Hogwarts. His older sister, Dolores, and cousins, Isabela and Luisa, were returning to the Brazilian wizarding school Castelobruxo. However, due to his inflection, he had to go to Hogwarts.

Dolores opened the door. "Hermanito," she called. "I found something!"

"If it's another one of Mariano's poems, I'm not interested," Camilo muttered.

"I found mamá's diary," Dolores said. She laid the book on Camilo's bed. "It documents her years at Hogwarts. I haven't read that much, but I think you should read it."

Camilo quickly shut Magical Theory. He laid it on his nightstand. Camilo's mother, Pepa, passed away when Camilo was a baby. All he had were pictures and the stories he could get his father to tell. Dolores was only six when their mother died. She didn't remember much.

"Where did you find it?" Camilo asked.

"I snuck into her old room," Dolores confessed.

"Lola, that room has been bared off by Abuela," Camilo declared.

"I know, but curiosity got the best of me," Dolores said. "Do you want it or not?"

"I do," Camilo sighed. "Thank you."

"You're welcome," Dolores said. She then left the room. Camilo opened the first page with writing.

"Slytherin," The Sorting Hat's voice boomed through the Great Hall. A group of people in green robes clapped loudly. Pepa watched her brother, Bruno, run to join that table. Pepa was shaking as she knew there was only one person before her sorting. She had never gone to a real school before. Her mamá always homeschooled Pepa and her siblings. That was until Professor McGonagall knocked on their door, informing them they were witches and a wizard.

"Nervous, conejita?" Julieta asked.

"Mhm," Pepa said.

"Don't be," Julieta whispered. She sat where her brother was once sitting. Professor Dumbledor placed the hat on top of her head.

"Julieta Madrigal," The Sorting Hat said. "I just sorted your brother. It's clear to me that you're... Hufflepuff!"

The people in yellow robes burst into applause. Julieta went and joined them. Pepa sheepishly walked over to the seat. All of the eyes in the Great Hall were on the redhead. The headmaster placed the hat on her head.

"Pepa Madrigal," The Hat introduced. Please put me in a house with Bruno or Julieta, Pepa thought desperately. "You want to be a Gryffindor or Slytherin? Well, deep down in your heart, I see you're a... Gryffindor!"

The red-robed people clapped. Pepa froze. She was alone in a new school, and Pepa had a secret.
