*Recap*
"Ha," I laugh. "He should remember the real first place he met me. I am gonna go help Jenna keep the others in check." I rush off before he has a chance to say anything else.
I catch up to Jenna and we laugh about how awkward Stefan is being. She tells me about what she heard this morning. I laugh along with her. There was obviously some teenage drama going on that we didn't know about. We go around and check out if the volunteers are working and also taking a break when they needed to. We reminisce about what we did during all these parties and when we had to help set up.
It was a great day of reminiscing all of the trouble we got into when we were younger. Jenna and I talk a little more about our conversation from last night. We are going to check on Elena in the sunroom but hear her and Jeremy talking. He says that he doesn't need her bossing him around. Oh. There seemed to be drama in the Gilbert house that Jenna didn't know. She looked just as confused as I did. We decide to head out and check on other volunteers.
I tell Jenna I am gonna head out for a bit to get something from my car. As I am heading out the door, I heard Mason scream. I look out the door slightly and see him drop to the ground. Bonnie jumps into Mason's jeep and Damon follows after he puts Mason into the back. I step back into the house slightly as they drive past. I had a bad feeling about my friend being with Damon.
I send Jenna a text saying I had to do something and had to head out. I go to my car and do a locator spell to find out where Mason is. Damon wasn't really sneaky since he took him back to his house. I didn't want to reveal myself to them yet, but I also had a feeling, things wouldn't go well for Mason if he was with Damon.
I drive out to the Salvatore house that I had heard about. Thankfully it wouldn't be hard to find as the roads went straight there. I drive that way and park on a side road nearby that I saw on the map. I wouldn't want the to see my car, so I cloak it incase something delays me from getting out first. I walk closer to the house feeling for any magical traps or things, but it seems they aren't as worried for their safety as I was. I cloak myself to be undetectable by whoever is in the house.
As I get closer, I can hear the screams from Mason. I knew it would not be good for him there. I sneak in through the side kitchen door that everyone in town seemed to leave open. It was a trick Jenna and I found out when we were little. I was hiding in the kitchen doorway as Damon grabbed onto Jeremy who left in a huff shortly after. As soon as Jeremy leaves the room, I send a shock to Damon to knock him out right before he shoves his hand into Mason's chest. Mason is looking around wildly for whoever is there. I then force the chains around him to break and fall to the floor. Mason is looking around wildly as he slowly stands up. He seems to realize he cannot find anyone and hobbles his way out of the front door. I take one last look at Damon still on the floor and make my way back out the same way I came in. I make it to my car and uncloak it. I send Jenna a text saying I would be by for dinner if she wanted, and she quickly responded yes. I make my way to her house.
It is dark by the time I get to Jenna's front door. I can hear her and Ric inside as I knock on the door. I hear Jenna say come in. So, I go into the house. I sit down at the table and smile at the cuteness between Jenna and Ric who seemed to forget I was there. I remembered my necklace for Jenna and would give it to her during dinner as a friendship gift from my travels. Elena enters a little while after I do. She looks at Ric and gives him a quick nod. Oh, so history teacher was in on it too. Hmmm. I wonder what he could be because he didn't give off any of the normal feelings. Some investigation would need to happen.
Elena heads upstairs apparently to change clothes. I turn back to Jenna and give her a look saying we need to talk later. She nods at me as she finishes preparing for dinner. The house had the wonderful aroma of food cooking and freshly cooked. It seemed like a normal kind of night. Elena comes down as Jenna answers a phone call. Once again, I get the bad feelings from earlier, so I move over to her as Elena and Ric talk. I try to hear the conversation Jenna is having but Ric and Elena are not subtle. I am pretty sure they forgot I was here. I sit down on the bar stool to wait for the phone conversation to end.
"Of course, I understand," Jenna says walking over to Elena. "Elena it's for you." She holds the phone out to Elena.
"Who is it?" Elena asks.
The bad feeling only got stronger as Elena talked with the person on the phone. From her expression it was not a pleasant conversation. She walked into the living room with a worried expression. Ric and I looked at each other and then Elena. Something was not right. Ric grabs some bread from the counter and takes it to the table.
I notice Jenna is cutting more bread. I look back over at Elena as her body language is screaming danger. Elena turns to look in our direction. Ric seems to mouth 'what' but she holds up a finger. Seriously girl! If you need help mouth words. The other person probably wont even notice. At least people could help, if they knew what was going on. Elena slowly turns around and screams.
"Jenna no!" Elena screams as Jenna stabs herself in the stomach with the knife she had just been using.
We all rush over to her and try to help her. Ric holds her head up. I grab a towel and hold it around the wound not taking out the knife. Elena just panics next to Jenna. Elena eventually remembers to call 911 and they come as quick as they can and rush her to the emergency room. I decide that it would be best if her family is near her, so I ask that Ric message me with updates and I head to my house. Too many of my friends had come too close to dying today, it was not a good day. I just wanted a shower and a cup of tea.
I opened the door to my house and instantly knew I wasn't alone. I don't think the other person meant any harm, so I walked to the kitchen and started heating up some tea.
"You can come out now," I say into the darkness.
"How did you know?" Mason said coming out of the shadows.
"How did you know?" I say back to him. I hold up a teacup and he shakes his head no.
"I have known since we hugged at the wake." He says with a slight smile.
"Same," I say with a small chuckle.
"Did you help me today?" He asks sitting at my counter.
"Yes," I say. "I was leaving to get something from my car and saw Damon putting you in your car. I got a terrible feeling for you and figured out how to get to their house and stop him."
"Well," he started. "I am glad that you were there."
"I will always be there for my family and friends," I say taking my hand and offering it to him.
"So do you know about what's going on?" He asks taking my hand and giving it a squeeze.
"Yes and no," I say. "I know most of the current players and I know about the 'curse' Katherine is trying to break."
"How do you know that?" He asks looking at me shocked.
"I have my spies, just like Katherine," I say. "Just an FYI she is using you."
"Yea, Damon said something similar," he says looking sad.
"I am sure she had you convinced that she loved you," I say, "but that is what she does. She gets into your head and twists your feelings around only to use and throw away. That's the whole thing with the Salvatore brothers and her."
"I didn't know about their history," he said.
"Well, it's a long, long story." I say. "Honestly, it might be a good idea to get out of town for awhile until this whole thing blows over."
"I might just head back to Florida," he says.
"Well before you do," I say seriously, "text Tyler and let him know you are leaving but will be there if he needs you. Because we both know your curse could trigger at anytime for him and he is all alone."
"Yea I will do that," he says with a smile. "You will look out for him too?"
"Of course," I say. "I know how it is to be alone and I don't want him to go through it."
"Well," he says, "I guess I should head out. Thank you he says."
"Always Mason," I say getting up and heading to the door.
I give him a hug and he heads out to his jeep. He gets in his car, and he heads out of my drive into the darkness. I really hope that he gets where he needs to go safely. After everything today, I hop into the shower and then climb into bed. I instantly fell asleep. I woke up with the sun's rays coming through my window. I changed my clothes and called Jenna's phone. She told me she would be heading home a little bit later. I decide to go to the store and get some simple foods to make since she is hurt and I know the kids don't cook much.
I arrive just after Matt leaves. I knock on the door an Elena lets me in with a smile. She goes upstairs as I set my groceries in the kitchen. I go back over to Jenna and sit on the floor in front of her. I take out the necklace I was going to her yesterday and show it to her.
"That's gorgeous," Jenna says touching it.
"It's yours," I say. "I made it for you and never got a chance to give it to you yesterday."
"Yea," she says. "Sorry about that."
"No don't you dare say sorry," I say. "I am sure that you were compelled to do it because of this stupid drama that's going on."
"I knew you would tell me the truth," she says with a chuckle. She slips the necklace on.
