Connecticut Part Two

Connie sighs as she sits in an interrogation room. Across the table The Huntress with blond hair and glasses paces. "Do you have any idea how much trouble you are in?" The Huntress asks angrily. "You put yourself in great danger, and nearly killed a man. Your lucky the owner to the bakery deems you a hero. Were it up to me you would be sent home..." She stops pacing and sighs. "With a pat on the back, and a slap on the wrist!" The Huntress slams her riding crop on the table making Connie flinch back a bit having not expected the action.

"Anything else you want to reprimand me for?" Connie asks crossing her arms with an unamused expression. "Saving someone from being decapitated? Tossing unstable dust away from innocent Civilians including children?"

The Huntress glares a Connie causing the brunette to smirk. "Despite what I may think of you." The woman says. "There is someone here who wishes to speak with you." As if on cue the door opens revealing two men. One with silver hair a green suit and speckled glasses, and the other with black hair a grey suit and a red tattered cape. The man in green was holding a mug in one hand with Vale's Sigil on it, and in the other was a cane. His weapon if Connie were to guess.

"Connie Valkyrie." The man in green had a voice that sounded both young and ancient. As he takes a seat across from her, The Huntress stands to his right while the man in grey casually leans against the wall on the left. "It's a pleasure to meet you."

"Thanks I guess?" Connie says with a raised eyebrow. "And you are?"

"Professor Ozpin." He introduces reaching a hand over the table for a handshake which she accepts. "Tell me. Do you know what a Huntsman's duty is?"

"To protect people?" Connie guesses.

"And their Kingdom." Ozpin specifies. "Huntsman much like myself have to protect our Kingdom's from threats such as murderers, Grimm..." He takes a sip from his mug. "Thieves."

Connie's eyes widened a small fraction before she glares at the man even if it was the truth. Living on the streets meant stealing on occasion to survive though Connie never liked it. It was that reason why she was trying to find a job. Before she could say anything however the man in Grey stepped forward.

"Listen Kid," He starts. "We know you've been stealing for food and even clothes on occasion." Connie looked down knowing she had finally been found out. The huntress turns her head away from the men in disapproval. "But... We also know that your one hell of a fighter." The man adds while the Huntress pulls out her scroll showcasing video footage of the fight in the bakery. That had gotten Connie's attention.

Ozpin leans forward with a smile. "What my colleague is trying to say is that we would like to give you a chance." He says.

Connie was completely baffled by that statement. "A chance?" She asks.

"That's right." Ozpin confirms. "A chance to become a Huntress. To train at my Academy, Beacon." Connie's eyes widened. "If you agree. You'll have a place to stay, food to eat, and given the circumstances about your Sister and your mutual friend Lie Ren we can arrange for them to stay in an Orphanage in Vale." Connie glares at that last part. "With guarantee that they will be treated well, and if you and they desire, avoid any attempt at adoption." Connie's glare lightens.

"Will I be able to see them?" Connie asks.

"After classes your free to explore Vale as much as you want, and even take your Sister and Mister Ren out to have fun." Ozpin assures. "Bowling, Karaoke, or even a movie. So long as you attend classes, and you have them back to the Orphanage by 9 O'clock."

Connie sighs. "Ren wants to become a Huntsman.." She starts earning Ozpin's attention. "Because of that Nora's going to follow right on behind him. It's why I was at the bakery today."

Ozpin realizes what she was saying and smiles. "You were trying to earn money to get them into a combat school." He deduces. Connie nods. "If... and I do mean if Miss Valkyrie you stay on top of your studies I'll consider getting them enrolled for you, but in turn I expect you to spend your time at Beacon being the Huntress I know you can be." Ozpin explains. Connie knew exactly what this was. It was similar to how the Director had gotten her involved in Project Freelancer, but unlike the Director she could see that the man before her genuinely cared about protecting the people. "Would you say we have a deal Miss Valkyrie?" Ozpin sets his mug down and offers a hand for a handshake.

Connie takes a breath hesitating, and after a moment she took his hand and shook it. "Yes sir." She answers.

"Then I look forward to seeing you In four days." Ozpin says standing from the chair and grabbing his mug. He then turns to the man in grey. "Qrow, I trust you can handle getting them prepared."

"You got it Oz." The man in grey, Qrow as Connie now knew agrees.

With that Ozpin and the Huntress leave the room walking down the hall. Once they were a good distance away and exiting the precinct the Huntress spoke up. "I still don't understand why your going to such lengths for this girl." She says with frustration.

"She is a strong fighter Glynda." Ozpin states. "It's best to have her as an ally rather than an enemy."

The Huntress, Glynda looks to Ozpin with narrowing eyes. She could tell Ozpin had other motives in recruiting Miss Valkyrie. She just didn't know what.
