AN: This took far longer than expected – mostly because a) I'm lazy, and b) I went through a ton of ideas before settling on this one. Anyways, enjoy!
Side note: This fic should (if the uploading system doesn't screw up again) have 4 chapters and slightly less than 8000 words.
As usual, Yato was woken up by her alarm at exactly seven in the morning. After spending some time putting her mask on and otherwise getting ready for the day, she spent some more time waking up the other members of Operation Team A4. As usual, Durin had to be more forcibly woken up with some cold water to the face.
Yato has never blamed Durin, though, and Durin has never blamed Yato – it's an accepted fact among Team A4 that Durin's body forces her to sleep more.
After getting ready for the day, the group then go the cafeteria for a quick breakfast, before going to the training room.
Today, they arrive at 8:21; nine minutes before the training room opens. As is now usual, Noir Corne is relatively energetic - a drastic change from when he was still a mercenary - Durin is sleepy, and Rangers…
Well, he isn't much, actually.
Strangely, there aren't any other operators here today – not even Dobermann.
"Any idea where Dobermann is today? She's usually here by eight." Noir Corne is the first to remark on this fact.
"Maybe she's working on docking Rhodes Island with Kawalerielki." Dobermann had mentioned that to Yato a few days prior; she hadn't paid it much notice at the time, as it didn't affect her much, but the information did come in handy now.
"Ah, right. That. One of the people in Logistics mentioned it to me a few days back." As he spoke, Noir Corne took a look at the map. "You wanna go check? The deck's not far from here."
"Okay." Durin nodded, agreeing.
"Sure." So did Rangers.
"Looks like we're in agreement, then. Let's go. Noir Corne, do you know how to get there?" They were usually in agreement; today was no exception. Yato counted herself lucky she didn't get a team that was more prone to arguments. She probably wouldn't be able to deal with that.
"Yep."
"Lead the way, then."
As Noir Corne had said, the path to the deck was, indeed, relatively short. After a walk to a nearby elevator, all they had to do was push open a door, and they were out on the deck.
As they walked out, Yato did a short check on her mask, making sure it was in place. She didn't want to get a horrible sunburn from her skin's sensitivity to light – that would be a pain for quite a few days.
Soon, they managed to make their way to the docking ports – and, indeed, Dobermann was there.
"Hm? Team A4, why are you here?" Dobermann asked as they approached.
"There were no people at the training room for some reason, and we figured we'd ask you why." Noir Corne replied for Yato.
"Considerate. He knows that I don't like to speak that much." Yato idly thought.
"I assume you didn't see the bulletin?"
"What bulletin?"
"There are bulletins placed in the cafeteria, as well as the Control Center. In essence, they're informing all Rhodes Island combat Operators that they have a day off, as the work of moving the medicines off Rhodes Island doesn't require their help."
"Oh. Well, that's surprising. So why are you here helping then?"
"I have little else to do."
"Mm, alright. Well, bye, then." With a wave, Noir Corne turned back to the rest of the group. "So, what now?"
"Let's go back to the dorms and plan. This has obviously caught us off guard, so we need some time to think." Yato said.
"Who the hell plans their day off?" Noir Corne laughed, before shrugging. "Ah, whatever."
"So, what's the plan?" Noir Corne was the first to speak once they got back.
"I've heard of this 'Convalescence Garden'. It may be interesting." Rangers replied.
"Sounds a bit boring for me. I guess I'll check if Barty has something." Noir Corne said, sighing. "I should have known about this earlier."
"You don't fancy the habits of this old man?"
"No, it's just…"
"I was joking, Noir Corne."
"Oh." Noir Corne was really clueless at times.
"Well, I'll be going. Anybody else who wants to go to the garden?"
"Hm… Sounds relaxing…" Durin said. "I'll go."
"Okay." Rangers pushed open the door and left with Durin, his figure soon turning a corner and disappearing from view.
