Stop and Go, Charlie Brown!

Chapter 1: Green Means Go

It was another day at the park, and Charlie Brown, Linus, Jamal, And Snoopy were playing in the sandbox. "Stop. Wait right there." Jamal said before turning to the Barney doll. "Look at the neat town we built, Barney."

"It looks super dee duper, Jamal!" Charlie Brown impersonated Barney's voice.

"I know, right?" asked Linus. "I made that skyscraper."

"Not as good as my sand sculpture." Charlie Brown sighed, feeling outdone.

"Don't feel bad, Charlie Brown." Jamal assured. "I think it's good." Just then, Mario, Peggy Jean, And Lydia came riding in on their scooters. "Hi Mario, hi Lydia."

"Today my name is GoGo." Lydia smiled. "Like that super hero from Big Hero 6."

"I know. I watched that movie 20 times." Charlie Brown sighed.

"What're you doing?" asked Peggy Jean.

"Building sandcastles."

"Mind if I join?"

"Sure." Jamal said. Peggy Jean smiled as she joined them.

"I know, Brownie Charles." Peggy Jean said. "Just wanna catch up on lost time. Remember when I found a football in the rec room?"

"How can I forget?" laughed Charlie Brown.

"What happened?" asked Mario.

"I'll tell you some other time." Charlie Brown smiled before Mario and GoGo walked over to Marcie and Angela who were dressed like police officers.

"Stop!" Marcie smiled, holding up a red stop sign.

"Go!" Angela smiled, holding up a green go sign.

"What's going on?" asked Peggy.

"Marcie's on patrol duty." Linus said. "And she got Angela in on it."

They then noticed Gianna, Frieda, And Lucy pretending to drive. "Hi boys, hi Snoopy, hi Peggy!" Gianna smiled.

"Hi Gianna! What're you doing?" Peggy asked.

"Just driving my car." Gianna smiled as Lucy pretended to have road rage.

"STOP!" Marcie exclaimed.

"Hey! What's the big idea?!" Lucy shouted, honking her "horn".

They just giggled. "They're having fun. We should get in there." Peggy Jean smiled.

"Good idea, Peggy." Jamal smiled.

"Let's go play with them, Barney." Charlie Brown smiled.

"GO!" Angela exclaimed.

"STOP!" Marcie shouted. "If you're going to cross the street, please wait for the school patrol people to halt the traffic."

"But there is no traffic." Linus said.

"Okay, then. Go. You may now cross. Have a nice day, student pedestrians." Marcie giggled.

Peggy Jean giggled as Franklin, Shermy, And Patty Swanson joined their friends.

Angela and Marcie:

Oh, when I walk (Oh, when I walk)

Across the street (Across the street)

Oh, when I walk across the street

I always cross at the corner.

When I walk across the street

Patty Swanson giggled. "My turn!"

Patty Swanson:

Oh, when I walk (Oh, when I walk)

Across the street (Across the street)

Oh, when I walk across the street

I always stop to look and to listen

When I walk across the street

Sally and Eudora then approached their friends. "Can we play too?" Sally smiled.

"Sure!" Mario smiled.

Sally and Eudora:

Oh, when we walk (Oh, when we walk)

Across the street (Across the street)

Oh, when we walk across the street

We always hold hands with each other

When we walk across the street

"One more time people!" Franklin smiled.

Barney's Friends And Peanuts Gang:

Oh, when I walk (Oh, when I walk)

Across the street (Across the street)

Oh, when I walk across the street

Gianna and Peggy Jean:

I always cross at the corner.

Mario And Linus:

I always stop, look, and listen

Jamal and Franklin:

I always hold hands with a grown-up

Barney's Friends And Peanuts Gang:

When I walk across the street

"That was fun!" Peggy Jean giggled. "Let's do it again."

Just then, the Barney Doll came to amazing life!

"BARNEY!" The kids happily exclaimed as they and Snoopy hugged him.

"Hi Barney!" Peggy Jean smiled. "Good to see you again."

"Hi everybody!" Barney smiled. "Having fun today?"

"Yes!" The kids smiled.

"Me and Marcie were pretending to be police officers." Angela smiled before Marcie yawned. "And it seems like it tired you out."

"I got up at 4, to be at the patrol post on time." Marcie explained.

"Maybe you could use a nap." Angela suggested.

"Pfft. No sleeping on the job."

"How much do you wanna bet that this won't end well?" Eudora asked Sally.

"She who wins the bet gets to choose what to play." Sally grinned.

"I'm fine." Marcie said. "But now that Barney's here, we can play another game."

"Like Red Rover or Leap Frog." Jamal smiled.

"Oh Leap Frog!" Barney smiled before hopping with Snoopy. "I love that game!"

"Can dinosaurs play leap frog?" Peggy wondered.

"Yeah, but it causes lots of shaking!" Linus said.

"And Barney's too tall for us to jump over." Mario acknowledged.

"You would need to jump pretty high..." Barney realized.

"Follow the Leader is ALWAYS fun!" Eudora smiled. "Or ring-around-the-rosie!"

"But what would you like to play, Barney?" asked Marcie, with a yawn.

"We could play some hide and seek-making sure to never peek." Barney suggested.

"After that, in just a bit, he'll chase and catch us. Like this: tag, you're it!" Sally said, tagging her big brother.

"It doesn't matter what we play; we're gonna have a happy day!" Barney exclaimed.

Barney:

Today is a special day

Because we're all together

We'll have a super-dee-duper time

Because we're gonna have fun

Clap your hands

(1-2-3)

Run in place

Dance a silly dance

Make a funny face

Whatever we do

Me and you

The one thing that we know is

Barney, Barney's friends and Peanuts Gang (except Peggy Jean):

Is we're gonna have fun, fun, fun

Fun with everyone

We're gonna play all day

We're gonna have fun together

Peggy Jean:

Fun, fun, fun?

Barney's friends and Peanuts Gang (except Peggy Jean):

Fun with everyone

Peggy Jean:

We're gonna play all day?

Barney:

Together, we're gonna have fun

Every day's a fun-filled day

When we can pretend

Jamal:

We're a bird

Linus:

Or a fish

Marcie:

Or a police officer

Barney, Barney's friends and Peanuts Gang (except Peggy Jean):

Just pretending, with our friends

Barney:

Turn around

Look upside down

(Nice handstand, Peggy)

Play peek-a-boo

Or hide and seek

I see you!

Peggy Jean:

Whatever we do

Me and you

Barney and Peggy Jean:

The one thing that we know is

Barney, Barney's friends and Peanuts Gang:

We're gonna have fun, fun, fun

Fun with everyone

We're gonna play all day

(That's it, Peggy)

We're gonna have fun together

Fun, fun, fun

Fun with everyone

We're gonna play all day

Together we're gonna have fun

Peggy Jean:

Together we're gonna have fun!

YEAH!

"Fun, fun, fun! Together we're gonna have fun." Peggy kept singing.

"Uh, Peggy, the song's over." Mario said, as Peggy Jean turned red in humiliation. "Don't be embarrassed."

"Okay."

"So, what should we play first?" asked Barney.

Mario smiled. "How about hide and seek?"

They then heard giggling, surprising Peggy. "Guys, what was that?"

"It came from over there." Angela said.

"Looks like someone's already hiding." Eudora laughed.

Barney giggled. "Who do I see behind that tree?"

"Surprise!" Baby Bop exclaimed, holding the "STOP" and "GO" signs. She then noticed Peggy Jean. "WHOA! Now I'm surprised! Who are you?"

"Peggy Jean. And your name is..." Peggy began, a bit surprised.

"Peggy, meet Baby Bop. Baby Bop, this is Peggy Jean." Eudora did the introductions, bravely.

"Hi Peggy Jean. Hi Barney. Hi Snoopy. Hi everyone else." Baby Bop waved.

"Hi Baby Bop." everyone else said.

"Look! I found a pretty red sign and a pretty green sign." Baby Bop said.

"Those are ours." Angela said. "Me and Marcie were playing with them."

"They're pretty, but I don't know what they say."

"Let me help you, Baby Bop." Barney insisted.

"Is she a local?" Peggy asked Sally.

"No!" Sally said. "She's BJ's sister, remember?"

"That's BJ's sister?" Peggy asked with a smile.

"What were you expecting?"

"A yellow BJ lookalike."

"Fair enough."

"How'd she even get her name?"

"We'll teach you later."

"The red sign has the letter S-T-O-P." Barney explained.

"That spells stop." Gianna said.

"And the green signs has the letters G-O. And that spells go!" Barney continued.

"Oh! Stop! Go! Stop! Go!" Baby Bop smiled. "Oh I know what those words mean!"

"Okay, then STOP!" Marcie exclaimed.

"When someone says 'STOP', then I stand still. Just like this." Baby Bop said.

"That's right." Jamal said.

"She's smart." Peggy said.

"Yeah. She knows how to count to 10...usually." Sally said, with a shudder.

"Okay, you've stopped long enough. GO!" Angela said.

"And when someone says 'GO', I can start moving again." Baby Bop explained.

Marcie nodded her head, before yawning. "Marcie, do you need a nap?" Baby Bop asked.

"No. I'm fine. Just keep doing what you're doing." Marcie reassured. "But about some trivia-or fun facts?"

"Sure."

"Did you know that STOP and GO are opposites?"

"Oh yeah...opposites...uh...Barney?"

"Yeah?" asked Barney.

"What are opposites?" Baby Bop wondered.

"Oh good grief!" Lucy rolled her eyes.

"Shall we show her?" Barney asked.

"Yeah!" The kids smiled. Peggy Jean then bounced a ball.

"See the ball Peggy is bouncing?" Barney asked.

"Yes." Baby Bop said. "If I remember from our last 'fun fact', it's a sphere."

"Yes, but see how it goes up and the it goes down?" Barney asked.

"Uh huh."

"Well, up is the opposite of down." Barney explained.

Barney:

Bouncing a ball, bouncing a ball.

What does it do? Let's see.

Peggy Jean:

It's goes up, down, up, down.

Barney:

That sounds like an opposite to me!

"Oh show me another one, Barney!" Baby Bop smiled.

Barney:

There is a door. There is a door.

What does it do? Let's see.

Mario:

It goes open, close, open, close.

Barney:

That sounds like an opposite to me!

Barney, Barney's friends, and Peanuts Gang:

If it does one thing and then it does the other,

It could be an opposite, as we have discovered.

"Please show me one more, Barney." Baby Bop said.

Barney, Barney's Friends, and Peanuts Gang:

We are outside, We are outside.

What will it do? Let's see.

Linus:

We go, in, out, in, out.

Barney, Barney's Friends, and Peanuts Gang:

That sounds like an opposite to me!

They then headed inside the Caboose.

Barney:

There is a light, There is a light.

What does it do? Let's see.

Gianna:

It goes, on, off, on. off,

Barney, Barney's friends, and Peanuts Gang:

That sounds like an opposite to me!

If it does one thing and then it does the other,

It could be an opposite, as we have discovered.

Lucy:

I hear a voice

I hear a voice

What will it say?

Let's see

Sally:

It goes high

Linus:

Low

Eudora:

High

Charlie Brown:

Low

Baby Bop:

That sounds like an opposite to me!

Yeah, that sounds like an opposite to me!
