Chapter 3: And Red Means Stop! Stop! Stop!

Baby Bop then entered the caboose. "Did you have fun outside?" Sally asked.

"Yes! I stopped and go'ed every thing in the park!" Baby Bop giggled.

"Wow!" Marcie exclaimed.

"What did you guys do?" asked Baby Bop.

"Had a parade and did freeze dance, as well as exercises. Peggy Jean even put on heavy rock!" Linus said.

"Wow!" Baby Bop giggled.

"But now I'm kind of tired." Peggy Jean said.

"I'd like to rest too." Gianna agreed.

"Then let's have some fun without moving around." Mario smiled.

"Now, can we do some reading?" Marcie asked, removing her glasses to try giving everyone puppy dog eyes.

"Please?" Linus asked, also giving puppy dog eyes.

"Why not?" Lucy shrugged.

"Barney, would you please read a story to us?" Peggy Jean smiled.

"Why I'd be happy to!" Barney smiled.

"YES!" Peggy Jean grinned.

"And there are many stories to choose from!" Marcie smiled as they made their way to the library.

Barney:

Looking at the pictures, looking at the words.

I love to read.

A brand new story or one I've heard.

I love to read.

Marcie and Mario:

Reading a book or a magazine

That I've never read before.

I find out what I want to know

And then I read some more.

Barney, Baby Bop, Barney's friends, and Peanuts Gang:

Looking at the pictures, looking at the words.

I love to read.

A brand new story or one I've heard.

I love to read.

Gianna and Sally:

Reading the signs along the road

To see what they have to say.

Jamal and Shermy:

Or reading the back of a cereal box.

Hey! I can read all day.

Barney, Baby Bop, Barney's friends, and Peanuts Gang:

Looking at the pictures, looking at the words.

I love to read.

A brand new story or one I've heard.

I love to read.

I love to read, I love to read.

I love to read, I love to read.

I love to read, I love

I love to read.

"What story will you read, Barney?" Peggy Jean smiled.

"Better question: what story are we acting out?" Lucy explained.

"Well, since we had a lot of fun stopping and going today, I'd thought I would read a story with a lot of stops and go's in it." Barney explained.

"Oooo!" everyone smiled.

"The story of the Three Billy Goats Gruff."

"We've done that one a long time ago." Charlie Brown smiled.

"Once upon a time, there were three Billy goats, and their last names were Gruff." Barney began as Peggy, Gianna, and Jamal played the goats.

"One day, while playing in the woods, the youngest Billy goat heard his tummy growl."

"Oooh, I'm hungry." the youngest goat (Jamal) complained before smiling at the sight of green grass on the other side of the bridge. "Oh, yummy yummy. Green grass."

"There was a field of yummy green grass on the other side of a long bridge." Barney continued as the goat (Jamal) made his way over the bridge. "Suddenly, a very mean troll who lived under the bridge, stopped the Billy goat."

Just then, the troll (Snoopy) appeared.

"Stop! Who's crossing my bridge with a clippity clop?" Snoopy growled. "Billy goat you must stop, stop, stop! I stopped you so I can greet you, but now, I'm gonna catch you and eat you!"

"I'm too small to be dinner. But just wait for my sister. She's a lot bigger and tastier than me!" the youngest goat (Jamal) said.

"So the troll let him go."

The troll (Snoopy) sighed. "OK. Go. I'll wait for your sister."

"Goody, goody! Green grass!" the goat (Jamal) smiled before reaching the field.

"Then, the bigger billy goat gruff heard her tummy growl."

"I'm hungry." The bigger goat (Gianna) complained before walking over to the bridge.

"And, just like before, the mean old troll jumped up."

"Stop! Who's crossing my bridge with a clippity clop?" The troll (Snoopy) growled.

"Bigger billy goat, you must stop, stop, stop! I stopped you so I can greet you, but now, I'm gonna catch you and eat you!"

"I'm hardly a snack for a mean old troll like you. But soon my sister will come. She's much bigger and tastier than me." the bigger goat said.

The troll (Snoopy) sighed. "Okay. Go. I'll wait for your sister."

"Goody, goody, green grass!" the bigger goat (Gianna) smiles before reaching the field.

"And finally, the oldest billy goat heard her tummy growl."

"I'm hungry." the oldest goat (Peggy Jean) complained before reaching the bridge.

"And, just like before, the mean old troll jumped up."

"Stop! Who's crossing my bridge with a clippity clop? Again!" The troll (Snoopy) growled.

"Biggest billy goat you must stop, stop, stop! I've stopped you so then I can greet you, then, I'm gonna catch you and eat you!"

"But the biggest billy goat had a good idea."

"Those are some really nice flowers you got, Mr. Troll." The Biggest Billy Goat said.

"Why thank you." the troll (Snoopy) smiled.

"Not only do they look good, but I bet they smell good too."

"Why, I never smelled them. I'll just sniff them before I eat you."

"And as the troll leaned over the side of the bridge, to sniff the flowers..."

The goat the charged and knocked the troll (Snoopy) into the pond.

"YIKES!" the troll (Snoopy) shouted.

"Now Where was I?" The biggest billy goat (Peggy Jean) smiled. "Oh yeah. Goody, goody. Green grass."

"So from that day on, the troll was always nice to the three billy goats gruff. And he only ate vegetables." Barney finished.

"Fun story." Lucy smiled, while Snoopy huffed angrily. "Better you than me."

"Thank you for reading that book, Barney." Baby Bop smiled.

"You're very welcome." Barney smiled. "I love sharing a story with friends."

"Yeah...it's...it's fun." Marcie smiled, yawning.

"Get some sleep, you need it." Linus explained.

"Don't need it."

"Marcie, just stop arguing and go take a nap, otherwise, you'll become a flippity-boot like Lucy." Baby Bop suggested.

"Agreed." Sally and Eudora laughed, as Lucy huffed.

"And what're you gonna do, now, Baby Bop?" Peggy Jean asked.

"I need to stop playing and go home now!" Baby Bop smiled. "Bye bye!"

"Bye Baby Bop!" Everyone waved as she disappeared in a trace of magic.

"Tell BJ we say hi!" Peggy called out.

"I think she didn't hear you, Peg." Charlie Brown shrugged.

Lucy smiled. "That was one fun day, huh, everyone?"

"Well, I guess we better be going too." Peggy said. "But there's something we'll never stop doing, Barney."

"What's that?" Barney asked.

"We'll never stop being your friend." Peggy smiled.

"Thanks, Peggy." Barney smiled.

Barney:

I love you, you love me

We're a happy family

With a great big hug

And a kiss from me to you

Won't you say you love me too?

"I love you too." Peggy Jean said with a smile.

Barney, Barney's friends and Peanuts Gang (except Peggy Jean):

I love you, you love me

We're best friends like friends should be

Peggy Jean:

With a great big hug

And a kiss from me to you

Barney, Barney's friends and Peanuts Gang:

Won't you say you love me too?

"Bye Barney, bye Snoopy!" The kids waved as they left the caboose. Snoopy then took the stop and go signs, and gave them to the Barney Doll, who winked at him. Snoopy smiled as he winked right back.

The End
