Hey everyone. To all who reviewed, thank you. I may not sound like myself, but thats just cause I'm real tired around this time. So lets start the chapter already, eh?
"Awwwww. There's nothing worth stealing anywhere around here."
That was said by a simple pickpocket, hoping to 'liberate' a few coins from those who surely can afford it. He'd been trying and failing every time. Yet, no one was able to catch him. As he's continuing his gloomy talk, he notices a strange thing falling from the sky. It was big, that's for sure.
And from the looks of things… it's heading straight for him!
The robber had just enough time to dodge being crushed by the massive body of… something. When he got up to take a closer look, he couldn't believe his eyes.
A Dragon! And honest-to-goodness Dragon!
Just imagining how much money he could make off this beast was getting the bandit all giddy. So, he went to the nearest village, and asked for help. No one believed him at first, but when he offered to show them, they quit laughing and stood in shock at the fact that he told the truth. Soon, they helped him tie up the Dragon and carted him back to town.
When everyone gathered to look, they were in awe. The mayor then stepped up and said "Hello, everyone! Yes, your eyes do not deceive you. This here is an actual Dragon! The only one in existence! Now with all that out the way, let the bidding begin!"
As he was saying this, the pickpocket was already stealing and had a few riches already.
Unfortunately, he wouldn't be enjoying them.
The Dragon woke up. He was in a rage trying to break loose, the people just got scared but also laughed because he couldn't break them. And yet, through sheer strength, he did. He got up into the air and looked down upon them all.
"Hi zahhe do uncouth reyliik dare wa chain zu'u! Zu'u los Bromstrunnah, zu'u los felnirre deathly krah incarnate! Hi fen pah diin!"
None could understand the words (no one even thought the Dragon could speak) and they had no time to understand.
The entire town, and all within, were turned to ice.
The poor bandit, his final action being trying to escape the blast. He was already near the edge of town.
He was so close, yet now, he is forever so far.
Later...
Word had soon spread throughout the Empire that sightings of a Dragon flying north were reported. And entire towns and villages frozen along the way were good enough proof of that.
There was no telling why the Dragon would fly north. But everyone did know what was up north.
The kingdom of Natra.
Everyone highly doubted that the Dragon lived there in some type of alliance with Natra. And many more (those that didn't care for Natra) hoped the Dragon was going there to destroy it.
They knew nothing.
Prince Wein of Natra couldn't believe his eyes.
A Dragon actually hovered before him now. And apparently, this Dragon was in a bad mood. He spoke in a language he couldn't understand, but he did catch onto some things. So, mustering up the courage, he yelled at the dragon, saying "Hail, mighty Dragon! I am Wein Salema Arbalest, prince regent of the Kingdom of Natra! Why are you here, for we have no quarrel with you!"
Bromstrunnah was already annoyed with this boy.
He was the one in charge? Hmph. Anyways, Bromstrunnah gave his terms.
"Hi? Hi los faal drog do daar strunmah suleykesjun? How disappointing. Nevertheless, hon zu'u shark thaar! Hi ahrk hin people fen pah kneel mu zu'u, ahrk faal dovah cult fen kos reborn again. Refuse, ahrk neither hi, nor naan do hin people fen remain. Choose!"
Wein had absolutely no idea what Bromstrunnah said (neither did the two females) so, with an annoyed sigh, Bromstrunnah landed on the great balcony the castle had and spoke the human language.
"Fools! You cannot even understand simple Dovah speech? I really must be in another world. That aside, as I said before, you will kneel before me and this kingdom shall soon be my empire. The Dragon Cult will be reborn, and a way for my fellow Dovah to enter this realm will be found. Refuse to kneel, and I will decimate your entire kingdom! Nothing will be left standing. What say you to that, Wein Salema Arbalest?" He said with scorn.
At this point, soldiers were already coming out to do battle against the Dragon, but Wein ordered for them to stop. Surely a way to negotiate a compromise with this Dragon was possible?
"Er… Greetings mighty Dragon. I must say, I didn't expect you would talk. At all, really. B-but still, it's nice that you do, so that we can come to an agreement. My kingdom cannot serve you forever, and we rather have our own things we're dealing with. But I'm sure there is an old ruin somewhere around here for you to make yourself at home so we can further discuss this later on? After all, you must be tired from the day you've had, yes?"
This boy was smart, Bromstrunnah would give him that.
The deal wasn't all that bad, actually. Bromstrunnah was tired and wanted to just sleep all this stress and future planning off. Maybe it was all a dream, anyway. So he agreed, and parted with these last words.
"Very well, I accept. We shall further discuss this at a later time. But know this, I will rule here. You may stay as 'Prince-Regent' but it is I who is truly in control, understand? Good. Oh, and sleep long, warm, and well with those concubines of yours. Hahahahaah!"
A little later that day, Wein was sitting in his chair with a nasty bump on the head (courtesy of Ninym) and a stinging cheek (courtesy of a slapped face by Zenovia). He never did anything! It was just that showy Dragon trying to get the last word (and last laugh, as he was heard laughing the whole way).
"Rotten, giant, flying lizard! Who does he think he is, coming here and demanding to be in charge of Natra! We may be called the Dragon of the North, but this is crazy! Why did he even come to us, of all kingdoms?! There are plenty he could've gone to and decimated! The Western kingdoms, the Empire, even. But no he chooses to come to us!" Wein said panicky. His aide Ninym, and sister Falanya were there as well, watching the prince have what might be the closest to a total mental breakdown.
They couldn't blame him, really. An actual dragon that could decimate this entire kingdom on a whim, wants to rule Natra?
There doesn't seem to be any way around it.
"I only even said the whole 'talk about this later' thing to buy us some more time! What can we do?!"
As this was going on, Falanya quietly snuck out of the room and went down the hallway, aiming to get out of the castle.
"Where are you going?"
But she didn't get far.
It was her bodyguard, Nanaki Ralei who said that. Falanya wasn't sure how she'd be able to shake her off, but she would try. "Um, just a stroll. You don't need to come with me, I won't be far."
Not a very good excuse, but hopefully it'll do the trick.
"Hmmmm. Alright, be safe and have fun."
If only it were that easy…
So, quickly and quietly, Falanya got out of the castle, and soon out of the city, and into the night to look for Bromstrunnah. And up above on the roof of a tower, Nanaki watched and sighed, then soon followed.
Falanya didn't know of any ruins in Natra save for one, the Needle Point Ruins (so named because in the farthest north of Natra, there's a stretch of land that points up further still, like a needle). Those ruins were strange, unfamiliar, ancient, and possibly haunted. If the rumors and stories were to be believed, anyway. While she was unsure if the Dragon knew of them, he would probably fly around until he found them. And if he didn't find them, then maybe she could spruce the place up.
Just to be nice.
The journey was long, hard, and cold. Many rocks and difficult terrains were in her way. But luckily she 'borrowed' a horse before she left Natra, so she managed to make good time and eventually reached the Needle Point Ruins. They looked exactly as she remembered before, with the big dark stone, strange architectural designs and markings. Not to mention the giant front gate with what appears to be a type of keyhole and three rings with different animals. Falanya dismounted and walked up the steps (she never stopped to fully notice all the coffins, the ones standing up and lying down). She felt like an intruder walking up to the front gate, as if she was an affront to whatever dwelled within. Her suspicions were right when a thunderous roar made her lose her footing, only to be caught by Nanaki.
"Got you." She said, only for the princess to reply "N-nanaki?! You followed me the whole way?"
The bodyguard simply nodded and set her down, only for the two of them to be struck with fear at what happened around them.
The coffins' lids were being busted down as Draugr stepped out with weapons brandished and growls and other such unsavory words being said. They were all about to converge on the two girls until the same roar was heard again, along with the words "Enough! Leave niin kos. Fah nu. If nust los het, ruz nii appears 'kulaan' Wein has meyz wa ok senses sooner than zu'u thought. Pruzah fah him."
It was Bromstrunnah. All the Draugr bowed to him as he landed on a tower and spoke (in the normal tongue) "Well? Wein has sent you for a reason, yes? Then kneel and swear allegiance already. I am tired and wish to enter the Bron ruins. Perhaps the Dov Priest here shall give a welcome befitting my kind."
Falanya, terrified by the walking dead and giant dragon, could only say "W-well, mister Dragon-"
"Lord. You will address me as Lord."
"R-right. Forgive me, Lord. I wasn't sent by my brother to swear fealty. I came on my own accord, and in secret. I kind of just wanted to… welcome you to Natra, hehe. I also wanted to take a look at what you'd do to the Ruins here. But, uh, I g-guess you've just made them your home. Well it's been fun, but me and Nanaki have to go!"
With that, the two made to leave, but the great door opened and out floated a Draugr with a strange mask. "Ahhh, my lord hath returned. Come, a high place has been prepared for you, mighty Bromstrunnah."
The dragon (with what would seem to be a smile) simply followed and entered into the massive ruins. The Draugr followed close behind and were forcing the two girls in. Once all were through, the great gates closed with a loud clang. Inside, Falanya was blown away by the grandeur and sheer majesty of the whole place. Were all these Draugr inside just awake the whole time, just to spruce the place up?
"Hmmm… so this is where you and your followers have been all these years, Rovaaniik? When we heard of North Point Stronghold vanishing like it did, we assumed it was the rebellious ones and their foul play at work. It appears I was wrong. But you have all remained faithful, and for this you shall be rewarded. As for you Princess, if your kingdom is to be under my jurisdiction, then Rovaaniik here will speak for me. He shall dwell at… what was it?... 'Natra'? Yes, that place. And you shall remain here, and learn what you must learn to serve me."
Falanya, amazed by all the rooms and weapons and other ancient things, she didn't hear the dragon, but when he cleared his throat, she snapped out of it and said "Yes sir! I understand. I… am honored… to remain here and learn!"
"Good. Now go, Rovaaniik! I expect a full report later on! Nanaki shall guide you, since we can't have you wandering again."
At this, it was clear the tour was over. Falanya was given her quarters, and Rovaaniik and Nanaki were on their way to Natra.
Today sure was a day of rare sights.
I hope you guys enjoyed it. If I don't sound like my usualy self them I'm sorry. I'm just so tired right now. Anyways, please review, follow and favorite. I'll see ya next time.
