It was a warm and breezy day in Konohagakure. Kishi had just finished training and was catching her breath sitting on a branch of tree at the training grounds of village. She watched her teammates as few were still sparring, while others were calling it a day.
Team Minato, Hayate, Gai, Ebisu,Asuma and Kurenai along with Kishi, Ibiki and Tokuma had trained for entire day. She had seen Gai doing his normal laps around the village and asked him to train with her. Gai eventually, asked anyone he could meet on his last lap around the village and much to Kishi's surprise had gathered everyone.
She glanced over to her dogs, all three of them were getting belly rubs from Rin and Obito. She rolled her eyes when she realized that Pochi as usual was in Kakashi's lap. She saw everyone was slowly gathering to where her dogs were and decided to leave her spot on the tree in few minutes.
"I am surpirsed all of us had a day off today...", Asuma said coming over to sit near Obito.
"Well...there is the news of war", Ibiki sighed," They must be considering the village situation, the no. of genins, chunins and jounins. I think we will get a few nasty missions soon..."
"Nasty is given, since we are already chunins... except for Kakashi..."Asuma turned to him receiving a hmmed response.
"As expected of my eternal rival... I am glad I chose you Kakashi. But I am going to catch up to you very soon and become a jounin as well. After all its the springtime of my YOUTH!", Gai screamed only to receive several eyerolls.
"Anyways, today's training session was really great. Great idea Gai..", Obito said.
"Actually, it was Kishi-chan's idea...", Gai replied.
Everyone except Ibiki looked visibly surprised. "Kishi's idea? That's a new considering how she keeps everything to herself..." Kurenai said earning a few nods.
"She lost to Ibiki yesterday...So might had something going on in her mind..", Kakashi finally spoke up.
"And she told you?" Ibiki was visibly astonished.
"Man... she always defeats my predictions...I didn't think she would start with her... improvement this fast,if you can call it that..", Ibiki mumbled more to himself than others.
"Do you think she is weak Ibiki? Cause I sure know she with her hounds can take down anyone, even Bakashi", Obito glared at Kakashi, who, he thought, was acting cool infront of all because of his jounin status.
"Hn...I am not weak as you Obito...",Kakashi replied with bored eyes and they had their little glaring contest.
"She is...brutal... but not weak..."Ibiki trailed.
"Not to mention kind and gentle, if you are referring to the mission in the land of snow, Ibiki. She sure has a way with animals and not just dogs or wolves.", Tokuma said.
"What are we missing?", Kurenai questioned, too curious to hold back.
"Oh.. we were on an infiltration mission in the land of snow, and she had gathered the entire intel on enemies from a snow rabbit who happened to live in the nearby cave. After the mission she had asked me to locate the rabbits, if any in the rubble of fallen cave only to save the families of rabbits which were trapped. Hell I used my Byakugan more on rabbits than enemy on that mission."Tokuma snickered.
"Boy, she was the reason why cave fell , now wasn't she. I still remember how brutally Kishi and Adzuki had killed that man. I didn't knew Adzuki was so feisty.."Ibiki said earning a growl from Adzuki.
"Don't trash talk about him Ibiki, you know he understands you" everybody heard Kishi, as she was approaching them.
"Ma..I didn't mean it in a bad way buddy", Ibiki laughed sitting down beside Adzuki and patting him and rubbing his belly."I would never talk bad about you buddy. You three have saved me countless times. I just said that you are strong Adzuki"
At this Ibiki was rewarded, as Adzuki stood up and started licking his face happily wagging his tail. Everyone laughed.
"You are really amazing with them Kishi..", Rin said smiling.
"Well, we did grow up together after all. Anyways, arigtao you guys.. It was really a great training session."Kishi said bowing down to everyone.
"Now now Kishi, no need to be so formal", Kurenai said, lightly punching her shoulder "Its not only you who benefited from it. Anyways it was fun when Momo was this close from biting Ebisu's ass" Everyone laughed again hearing loud curses from Ebisu.
"I am glad you feel that way... I was starting to worry that I might had ruined your day off" Kishi said slightly embarrassed, scratching her neck. She then genuinely smiled as she saw the smiling faces of her friends.
Within 2 days every team in the village was assigned a mission as the war had begun.
Kishi's team was assigned to keep the enemies from entering the nearby villages so Konoha was not at major threat. Her team for the mission was team-Gai and Tokuma with Kushina as the jounin leader. Ibiki was posted with intel department while Ebisu was assigned with Asuma's team. They were on frontlines, it was a locate and eliminate enemy camp mission.
She and her hounds had perfectly synced their attacks with Gai, Tokuma and Hayate. That had given Kushina advantage of using her powers to max. Their mission was a success, no casualties only a few injuries which was no sweat.. She could not be more proud of her dogs, Kishi thought. They would see any opening and attack, following the planned strategies perfectly. Even Kushina had praised them.
The mission was completed on fourth day, locating and destroying enemy camps, before no more were to be found. It was a 2 day journey back.
By the time they reached Konoha, the war was calming down and talks of peace were to be held. Kushina had dismissed them all by saying she would submit the report to Hokage and they were free to go. They all had thanked her and decided to treat their injuries before meeting with others.
It was almost evening. Not all teams had returned to Konoha yet. Kishi was walking back to her house with Adzuki,Momo and Pochi. Pochi was limping because of the injury so Kishi was carrying Pochi in her arms while Adzuki and Momo were sleeping on her shoulders, one on each. She was feeling quite heavy from their weight, they weren't small pups anymore, but she didn't mind. They did really well and needed rest. She was glad there were no casualties on her team. She hoped there were none on other teams as well. But it was war after all, sacrifices determined the outcome here. She just prayed everyone was safe.
She took her hounds to Hana for treating their injuries that turned out to be minor. She then reached home and decided to take a shower. She promised to bathe her dogs tomorrow. She was too tired to think about anything else, her body aching, when she sat on her bed. The bed seemed welcoming, and sleep was already taking over her brain. Let's keep other things for tomorrow she thought as she drifted into sleep.
