"My name is Trenton Stronghold, but everyone calls me Trent. My parents, Thomas and Tanya Stronghold, are the greatest super heroes on the planet. They are better known as Commander and Jetstream. My dad has super strength and my mom has supersonic flight power. And I... well... I still haven't inherited my powers. My dad says since I was little that I need to become a great hero like him, but to be honest, I I don't care about that. I'd be fine just being a normal kid living a normal life. Sometimes I just wish I found out I'd never have powers. He'd have to accept that, right?

Anyway, today is an important day. It's my first day of school at Sky High, a superhero school. There we learn to use our powers. I want to see what they'll do when they find out I don't have any."

Trent got on the bus and soon saw his neighbor and best friend Gwen by a vacant seat and soon approached her. She immediately smiled as she saw him.

"Hey, Trent! What's up? Are you looking forward to our first day?"

"Not much..."

"What's wrong?"

"Gwen, I have no powers!" He whispered.

"Are you serious?!" The goth girl with dark blue and green hair whispered back. "Well, but... that's no big deal, is it? You're gonna discover your powers and learn how to use them!"

"That's the problem, Gwen! I don't wanna have powers!" Trent spoke too loudly and some students on the bus stared at him.

"What?!" Courtney's head popped up in the front seat, looking at Trent. "But having powers is great!" She disappeared and reappeared, showing off her invisibility powers. "See?!"

"Hey, we can't use our powers before class!" Gwen warned her.

"Leave him alone, Courtney." Noah, who was sitting next to the invisible girl, spoke in a monotone, still focused on the book he was reading. "Not everyone wants to have a life as busy as ours."

"Um... and what's your power, busy man?" Gwen asked, somewhat outraged with the condescending words of the boy she didn't even know until that minute.

"ENOUGH!"

Suddenly they all looked back and saw a big red muscular monster whose veins popped out from their neck and forehead.

"What's going on?" Bridgette asked in a gentle voice, trying to calm down the beast.

"LOOK AT THAT!" The big transformed Eva pointed to a girl with glasses who couldn't stop sighing for Justin.

"He's so hot... I'm sure he's the hottest guy in this school..." Beth repeated over and over.

"Don't mind her, she's not hurting anyone..." Bridgette tried to sound firm but was hesitant.

"UGH! I HATE TAKING BUS WITH FRESHMEN!" Eva growled and then returned to her normal form and sat with her arms crossed.

"Gee, sis, take a chill pill..." Leshawna sighed.

"ATTENTION STUDENTS!" Chef Hatchet yelled in his supersonic voice, making the entire bus shake "Let's go to Sky High!"

"How are we gonna get there if the school is in the clouds?" DJ asked confused.

Suddenly the students' seat belts automatically tightened and a rollercoaster-like vest harness appeared over each one of them.

"Why did have to I ask?!" Dj held tight to the harness as the bus began to rapidly take off.

For the next few minutes, all that could be heard inside the vehicle were panicky screams as Chef drove across the sky toward the school. Soon, the bus landed ungraciously on Sky High's large campus. The students started to leave one by one, while some got sick and passed out on the floor. After all the freshmen had gathered, the principal showed up to welcome them.

"Hello, freshmen! I'm Principal Blaineley! Welcome to Sky High, the Institution for Superheroes! We hope you have a great school year and learn how to use your amazing powers to the best of your ability! To start this wonderful year, make a single line and Coach Hatchet will guide you to the gym, where you will perform your first activity!" The blonde woman pronounced all the words with a huge eerie smile "Have fun!" She said and then turned and entered the school through the same door she had left.

Chef walked up to the students in a different outfit from the one he was wearing on the bus and with an unfriendly look, commanded the incoming freshmen to follow him.

"So you're a driver AND a teacher?" Geoff asked intrigued.

Hearing this, Chef stopped walking, causing all the freshmen in line to bump into each other. He walked slowly and menacingly to Geoff and approached his face.

"DO YOU SEE ANY OTHER RESPONSIBLE ADULT AROUND HERE?!" He yelled in a supersonic voice.

"N-no, sir..."

"GOOD. NOW STOP ASKING STUPID QUESTIONS AND WALK!"

"Y-y-yes, sir..."

When the students arrived at the gym, the coach climbed onto a round stage in the center of the court.

"Your first activity will be Power Placement! You'll show your powers and I'll whether you're a hero or a sidekick." After hearing that, Courtney raised her hand. "Yes?!"

"Ahm... Sir, I don't think it's fair to be classified between heroes and sidekicks since we are all equal under the law. Besides, dividing students is a form of prejudice because it judges students not taking into account what really matters, which is their personality, but overestimate skills which we cannot control."

Gwen and Bridgette looked at each other as an awkward silence echoed in the gym and with a confident smile raised their hand and said:

"We agree!"

Silence remained until Coach Hatchet got off of the stage and walked slowly in front of each of the three, glaring at them. Then he stopped and filled his lungs with air.

"SIDEKICKS!" He yelled causing all the students to lean back with the strength of his soundwaves.

Courtney's instant reaction was to recoil and become invisible.

"Wait a minute, your power is interesting. Hero!"

Gwen and Bridgette looked at each other again, this time with a frustrated sigh. Chef climbed the stage again and pointed at one of the students.

"Hey you, dark green shirt, come here!" The handsome boy climbed onto the stage and took a deep breath. "Introduce yourself."

"My name is Justin and this is my power." The blue-eyed boy gave the girls a seductive smile and ripped off his shirt.

The sun coming from the big windows shined on Justin's skin, revealing his power. His tan skin began to glow, blurring the vision of everyone in the Gym. The girls were delighted and sighed, especially Beth.

"What is this?!" Chef was outraged "Are you some kind of modern vampire?! SIDEKICK!" He yelled causing the boy to be thrown to where the group of freshmen was.

"You can be my sidekick whenever you want!" Beth said looking at the handsome boy lying on the floor.

"Your turn, weirdo!"

Beth took the stage and after introducing herself, she shouted:

"This one's for you, Justin!" Suddenly the girl jumped high and three identical clones of her appeared on stage. "If one Beth isn't enough, you can have all of us, handsome..."

"Hey! He is just mine!" One of the clones replied in anger.

"NO! HE'S MINE!" The second clone snapped.

"STAND BACK!" The other clone said and ran into the others, making the four of them start a fight.

"I was going to say hero when I saw your powers, but after all this stupidity… SIDEKICK!" Coach Hatched yelled. "NEXT! You."

"My name is Leshawna and this is my power." The black girl jumped up and landed on her butt, which made her bounce and make a giant leap until her face hit the wall and she fell to the floor.

"Bouncy butt?" Chef stared at her seriously for a few seconds "THAT'S THE STUPIDEST POWER I'VE EVER SEEN! SIDEKICK! Next."

"I'm Izzy!" The crazy girl raised both arms and caused several plants to burst through the window and invade the Gym.

"Hero! Next!"

"My name is Geoff!" Geoff clenched his fists and closed his eyes, until he began to shrink and was as tall as Chef's shin.

Chef looked down and lifted the tiny student by the collar of his shirt. After staring at him for a few seconds, he flicked him, sending him flying back onto the stage.

"SIDEKICK!" He yelled "NEXT!"

"But his power was so cool!" Bridgette grumbled.

"And how is he supposed to save the world?! By getting into the villains' noses?! NEXT!"

"Sir, I need Sadie to show my power..." Katie said shyly as she walked up to the stage.

"Oh boohoo, so you're going to be a SIDEK..." suddenly Katie became her best friend and that impressed Chef "Wow! Hero! Next!"

Sadie climbed onto the stage next and introduced herself. Soon after, she transformed into Katie.

"What is this stupidity? Don't you have any creativity?! We can't have more than one super hero with the same power! SIDEKICK!"

Sadie came down and hugged Katie, both still with their bodies switched, crying.

"It's okay, bestie! When we graduate, you can be my sidekick!"

Hearing this, Sadie immediately released her friend and returned to her normal body.

"Excuse me?! What do you mean I'm going to be your sidekick?! Do you think you're better than me?!"

"Of course not, bestie, it's just that..."

"Ugh! Leave me alone! AND TURN BACK TO YOURSELF! I DON'T WANT YOU USING MY BODY ANYMORE!"

The group of students stared at the two and then let out a few giggles. Then a loud siren echoed throughout the school and Chef announced:

"We'll proceed the testing after the recess. Those of you who have already been classified as heroes don't need to come back. You better be prepared!"

The group of students started heading towards the cafeteria. After Gwen and Bridgette looked at each other and nodded, as if knowing exactly what the other was thinking, Gwen spoke:

"Courtney! Um... that's your name, right?"

"Yes?"

"Wanna sit with us?"

"Sorry, I'm a hero, you guys are sidekicks. It looks bad! Bye-bye!" She turned and walked away "Let's go, Noah!"

Bridgette was annoyed, but Gwen put her hand on her friend's shoulder and calmed her down. In the end, Gwen, Bridgette, Trent, Geoff, Leshawna, and DJ sat together in the cafeteria.

"Trent, what are you gonna do since you don't have any powers?" Gwen asked worried and then immediately bent down, making her hands go through the table with her powers, to grab the juice she just dropped on the floor.

After hearing those words, the other four were shocked and Geoff spit out the juice he was drinking. Quickly, Bridgette lifted her fingers and, using her powers, made the liquid Geoff spat fly back to his mouth.

"You have no powers?!" Leshawna asked.

"Maybe he's a late bloomer…" Dj tried to help "It happened to momma"

"I don't care if I don't, okay?! It's just one less thing to worry about... Have you ever stopped to think that not everyone needs powers to be happy?"

"It's true... they want to put everyone apart! Humans and superhumans, heroes and sidekicks... We should build bridges, not walls!" Bridgette proclaimed, proud of her philosophy.

"Trent, you know your dad. Imagine how he would react if he found out you have no powers!" Gwen reminded, worried.

"So what?" Trent shrugged and looked back quickly as he sipped his juice. "Um... Am I crazy or is that guy staring at me?"

"Oh no... boy, you're in trouble!" Leshawna said after seeing the guy Trent was talking about.

"What's wrong?!"

"That's Duncan Pull! The son of the greatest supervillain on the planet!" Bridgette explained nervously.

"So...?"

"So, your father arrested his father!" DJ revealed.

"For four lives, no parole!" Geoff added.

"Great, I've barely arrived at school and I already have an arch-enemy!" Trent sighed and laid his head on the table.

After eating their snacks, the six got up and headed towards the gym. Halfway through, however, Trent accidentally bumped into the green-haired punk, that clenched his fists creating fire.

"Listen, hero boy, you better not mess with me, or I'll roast your face!"

"It's okay, man. I'm not doing anything! I believe in peace!"

"It was because of that peace that your father did what he did to mine!" Duncan brought his face close to Trent, lifting his hand to hit him with a fiery punch.

Suddenly, a girl ran between the two and pushed the punk away from Trent.

"Duncan, leave him alone!"
