Reviews:
TheOkWriter: As said in another review, the timeline is literally just a paper mache that I'm barely keeping together lmao. I'm just writing up all the interesting stuff that comes to mind rather than trying to keep a consistent timeline. It's a bit different from my normal works, but I think it's going well so far.
Jark503okami: Thank you again for reviewing! Adopted children is actually my strong suit. It doesn't show much on this site because I haven't uploaded it, but I like writing found family stuff, so I kinda wormed it into this fic. I'll be sure not to overwork myself with too many servants. Don't worry about that.
Chapter 5: To Protect
Tsukauchi Naomasa opened the door to see Sherlock and Nezu at Sherlock's desk, sipping on tea, but Nezu was the one in Sherlock's seat. Tsukauchi was confused. When Nezu called for Sherlock, the man vanished in his office for an hour before Nezu called him in. For some reason, the UA Principal decided to send the man a text instead of walking over to him, despite being a few feet away.
The damn rat probably just wanted to look like an evil genius as I walked in, Tsukauchi scowled at the thought. He definitely looked the part, sipping tea with an evil grin on his face.
"What did you need me for?" Tsukauchi asked.
"Our new friend has shed some light on a few matters that I thought you should be aware of," Nezu placed his hands together and chuckled. "Although he objected at first, it's important for you to know since you'll be working with him."
Tsukauchi gave Sherlock an incredulous look. "Although there isn't an association to regulate this information. It is still important to be secretive," Sherlock took a sip of his tea.
Truth, Tsukauchi's quirk signed off. "Alright. What is it?"
"Tell me," Sherlock's smile caused shivers to creep down the detective's back, "how much do you know about magic?"

Ryuko's face turned pale as she heard the voice of her daughter. She couldn't even turn to look at her daughter. Much to her horror, Stain chuckled, the murderous glint in his eyes not fading.
"Is this your daughter?" Stain said, pointing his knife at Ryuko. No, not at her… past her. "The daughter of a pretend hero pretending to be a hero. How fitting."
"Jackie, what are you doing here?!" Ryuko shouted. She was relieved that she could still talk, despite the rest of her body not being able to move. "Run!"
"Jackie, huh? What a cute name," Stain directed his knife back to Ryuko. "Too bad you're going to have to see your mommy die in front of you."
"Just don't hurt her, Stain," Ryuko glared at Stain. She couldn't move, but if begging could save her daughter's life, she would do it.
"I'm not a heathen. I don't kill innocent children," Stain's smile vanished. "You, however, you need to die."
Before Stain could move any further, Ryuko saw a blur rush into the Hero Killer, launching him back. Ryuko's eyes widened when the blur slowed down enough for her to identify who it was.
"Jackie?!" Ryuko shouted. There Jackie was, wearing what she was when the dragon hero found her, only she was wielding two knives. Ryuko had no idea where she got them, but there were more important things to worry about.
"Jackie, what are you doing?!" Ryuko shouted. At this point, tears were welling up in her eyes. She just adopted this child. This lonely child who she wanted to save, and she was already on death's door. After all, many pro heroes have already died to this man. What could a child do?
"Don't worry Mommy," Jackie said softly. Ryuoko's muscles tensed when an unbearable amount of bloodlust started to seep out of the small child. If Ryuko could move, she would have been brought to her knees.
"We'll take care of the bad guy."
Hate. Jack's being was filled entirely with man before her dared to try and kill their Mommy. This man was going to die. Jack would make sure of it.
"Damn, you pack quite a punch, kid," The evil man grunted as he stood up, Jack's kick launched him back several meters. His attention was now focused on Jack. "You might be a threat in the future. It would be better if I killed you now."
Jack didn't dignify the man with a response. In an instant, they were instantly in Stain's face, slashing at his throat. The man managed to back away in time, but wasn't able to escape their blow immediately. He was left with a shallow gash on his throat.
"Dammit," Stain growled as he took another leap back. He grabbed several knives that were strapped on his person and threw them at Jack. The young assassin easily struck the knives out of the air with their own as they dashed towards Stain.
Utilizing the full speed of a servant, Jack appeared behind Stain in an instant, their two butcher knives deep in Stain's legs. The man shouted out in pain and fell to his knees. Jack then pulled out two strangely-shaped knives and walked back to look down at Stain.
"What… what are you?" Stain looked up at Jack. Despite the situation he was in, he didn't show any signs of fear. He may have looked surprised and enraged, but he didn't show fear. Jack didn't respond and raised one of their knives to end the wicked man.
"Jackie!" Before they could stab the man in the throat. Mommy had run up to embrace Jack, holding her arm back. Jack knew they could easily break free from Mommy's grip and kill the bad mad, but the anguish in her voice caused her to refrain.
"Mommy?" Jack turned her head slightly in an attempt to give Mommy a confused look.
"Please don't do it," Mommy said. Her voice was shaky and desperate. "Please don't kill."
"Why? He wanted to kill Mommy," Jack's eyes were cold and apathetic. "He deserves to die."
"Please, Jackie…" Mommy begged. Her grip tightened on Jack and the servant could feel her start to shake. "Killing is wrong."
Jack's muscles tensed. She wanted to kill the man so badly, but that's not what Mommy wanted. They wanted to make Mommy happy. They want Mommy to love them. Would Mommy love them if they killed this man.
"I'm sorry Mommy," Jack turned around to give Mommy a hug. Mommy's hand shook, but she still tentatively hugged them.
"It's okay, Jackie… I'm just happy you're safe…"
"You've got to be shitting me," Tsukauchi leaned back in the chair he sat down in and heaved a sigh. Magic, spirits of long dead heroes, a holy grail… and it all registered as true.
"I wanted to tell you so you can let Sherlock deal with anything magic related," Nezu said. The rat seemed to be taking this whole magic thing rather well. "According to what he said, no one short of All Might or Endeavor could take a servant, and even they might be outmatched."
Truth, Tsukauchi's quirk pinged, telling the detective what he already knew.
"I need a drink," Tsukauchi grumbled.
"I don't blame you," Sherlock laughed out loud. "Currently, I haven't seen any of the other servants, but I believe that Archer has already been summoned."
"How do you know?" Tsukauchi asked.
"Two people were found dead a couple days ago, killed by arrows," Sherlock leaned in while looking at Tsukauchi. "There were fingerprints on the arrows, but they didn't match anyone in our databases."
"I see," Tsukauchi heaved a sigh. "It seems like this Archer person is hostile."
"I'm not so sure," Sherlock rubbed his chin. "I looked into the case and there were cases of child abuse. Archer might just be against child abuse."
"That's a possibility," Tsukauchi rubbed his chin. Before he could dwell on it any more, his phone rang.
"Hello?" Tsukauchi raised the phone to his ear.
"Stain's been caught. Head over to the site immediately."
Rumi jumped from building to building in a panic. Ryuko had called her two minutes ago saying that they ran into the Hero Killer Stain. She didn't even ask for details before speeding off. The two had installed tracking apps on their phone so they could go to each other when they needed to.
Much to her surprise, when she arrived, she saw Stain unconscious with two knives sticking out of his thighs with Ryuko sitting on the ground hugging Jackie.
"Ryuko!" Rumi shouted as she jumped down from the building, landing next to Ryuko and Jackie.
"Mama!" Jackie broke away from Ryuko and hugged Rumi. Ryuko turned to look at Rumi. Her eyes were puffy and red, as if she was crying.
"What happened?" Rumi asked as she hugged Jackie and carried her so the small girl could hug her while she was standing. Despite Ryuko's state, Jackie seemed cheerful.
"Well, I ran into Stain," Ryuko stood up, still obviously shaken up. "I told Jackie to run, but she stayed behind. When I froze up due to Stain's quirk, Jackie was the one to save me."
"What?" Rumi looked at her new daughter with shock.
"We beat the bad guy!" Jackie chirped with a wide smile on her face. "We cut him and stabbed him good!"
"What?" Rumi took another look at Stain to see a gash in his throat. The knives in his thighs seemed particularly big.
"Jackie fought off Stain as if he was nothing," Ryuko explained. "She almost killed him. She would have if I didn't stop her."
"I…" Rumi had seen many horrible and terrifying things, but a child willing to kill and have such a bright smile right after was pretty up there. There was also the matter of defeating Stain. Despite the villain being active for a short amount of time, his track record was downright horrifying. Over half of the heroes he's run into have died by his hands, and for a child to stop him was insane.
"Mama?" Jackie pulled her head back to look at Rumi. Her eyes were so innocent, as if she had done nothing wrong. No, the little girl didn't know she did anything wrong.
"Thank you for protecting your mommy," Rumi gave Jackie a strained smile. This child needed help. She didn't know that killing was wrong, and throwing her in juvie wouldn't help. If she was thrown in there, she would end up killing the kids there, thinking that it was completely okay. She needed someone to teach her. Someone to love her.
No regrets, Rumi thought to herself. She wanted to help this child and she would, if it was the last thing she did.
As she hugged her daughter again, she heard the sirens of police cars approaching. It seems that Ryuko called the police.
"Ryukyuu, Miruko," Although her back was facing the detective, Rumi could recognize the voice of Tsukauchi Naomasa anywhere. Before Rumi could turn, she could feel Jackie spring off her muscular arms. She whirled around to see Jackie, knives in hand attacking a pale man in a suit.
"Jackie!" Rumi shouted as she swung at the man with blinding speed. The man grabbed her arm. The force of the blow caused the ground to crack underneath them.
"Relax, Assassin," The man said.
What did he call her?! Rumi's eyes widened. The man pushed upwards, throwing Jackie in the air. Jackie did a flip and landed gracefully in front of Rumi. The child held a defensive position, as if protecting Rumi and Ryuko from a dangerous force, and Rumi had to admit. The man seemed dangerous. If he could block an attack with enough force for the ground to crack, he was definitely strong.
It's more telling that Jackie could make an attack that strong, Rumi thought. A strength quirk? Just what is Jackie?
"Allow me to introduce myself," The man had an easygoing smile on his face, as if he wasn't just attacked by a murderous ten-year old. "Servant: Ruler. My name is Sherlock Holmes."
A/N: Before I do anything else, I want to address the shift in pronouns when it comes to Jack. I'm trying out third person limited omniscient. I'm trying to write in the perspective of the characters, despite still being in third person. While Jack refers to themselves in a plural sense, Rumi and Ryuko perceive her as a little girl, hence the she/her pronouns. I hope that makes sense. Anyways, thank you for reading! Please R&R. I'm looking forward to reading your reviews.
To those waiting for Daily Life of a Wrought Iron Magus, I promise I'm working on it. The order of events I had planned didn't go well with my pacing so I'm working on remedying that. The chapter will come out when I finish writing it. Thank you for your patience.
