welcome to the second chapter of my newest 'Fruits Basket' fanfiction. I still don't know what I wanna title this 'Fruits Basket' fanfiction, though. I'm open to suggestions for a title for this fanfiction. anyway, this second chapter is significantly longer than the prologue and chapter one were between a mere two-to-three-hundred words of pure storyline. this second chapter of my newest 'Fruits Basket' fanfiction is a full-on one-thousand-five-hundred-nine words worth of pure storyline... not including this headnote, right here, and the disclaimer following it. I know that the movie which this 'Fruits Basket' fanfiction was based upon was not a very popular or likeable re-telling of 'Cinderella', but I liked the movie that I'm basing this 'Fruits Basket' fanfiction upon. I did not know why I actually liked the movie, myself. I just did. OK, on with the mandatory disclaimer.
disclamation: I do not own 'Fruits Basket' in any way, shape, or form... unless owning the manga series and its sequel, 'Fruits Basket Another', in the form of manga books and the new 2019 anime series on Bluray and DVD would count. I'm sure it would count for being a fan of the series. in terms of owning the series production, however, I can't help but think that it doesn't count by any terms, whatsoever. all ownership rights for the 'Fruits Basket' series are reserved for Natsuki Takaya and the folks of TV Tokyo in Japan. meanwhile in the US of A, the ownership rights for the 'Fruits Basket' anime series are reserved for the folks of the FUNimation Anime Company.
Suddenly, the story began to head into the clouds.
Young male voice: Yeah, I know that the name's a bit unoriginal and kinda cheesy, but we had to call it something, and wouldn't you believe it; Japan was already taken.
The story then started to move right past the clouds and into a tower.
Young male voice (continued): Anyway, in this tower, high above the palace of the number one Sohma Prince of them all, is what you might call the department of Sohma Land security. This is where all of our stories, as Sohmas, are watched over by a Kindly Sorceress, and her job is to make sure that every fairy tale goes by the book, right up to their happy endings.
The 'kindly' sorceress continued to watch over the stories of the Sohma Family.
Young male voice (continued): And that's why she has these.
The story suddenly disappeared and reappeared over to two scales in the sorceress's office.
Young male voice (continued): The scales of good and evil.
Then, the story redirected itself again towards a measuring needle for the scales. Both a happy sun and a depressed crescent moon were on the sorceress's measuring compass.
Young male voice (continued): You see that? She has a little pointer and everything.
The sorceress then noticed the depressed moon was getting more weight than that of the happy sun. So, she lifted her scale of evil to make sure the stories of the Sohmas stayed nice and happy.
Young male voice (continued): As long as she keeps those things in balance, the stories never change, and the endings stay happy, happy, happy.
Then, two young boys appeared in the sorceress's office. They looked slightly frazzled.
Young male voice (continued): The sorceress also has two male assistants; Hiroshi Kibayoshi and Yusuke Fukushima. Despite both of them being a couple of glass-half-full guys, they're the type who probably would never and could never get a date worth their time. You guys all know the kind of guy I'm talkin' about; a couple of world-class trouble-making total dorks.
Hiroshi and Yusuke then completely tripped over their own feet and into the scale of evil, effectively titling it all the way down with the Yusuke's foot. The 'kindly' sorceress nearly lost her temper at her two assistants for being such klutzes as to almost completely knock over both the scales of good and evil. She pulled out her wand only to get the scales of good and evil back into balance so as to make sure that nothing at all went wrong with the Sohma Land fairy tales on her watch.
Yusuke Fukushima: Sorry, Miss Uotani.
Hiroshi Kibayoshi: Yeah, sorry, Arisa.
Arisa Uotani: What did I say about calling your employer by her first name, Hiroshi?!
Yusuke and Hiroshi then yelped in surprise at the 'kindly' sorceress, Arisa's, lecturing towards the dark-haired one amongst the both of them.
Hiroshi Kibayoshi: It's not permitted until we can do our work right?
Arisa Uotani: That's right. Now, clean up the rest of your mess before anything gets permanently stained.
Hiroshi and Yusuke both hurriedly cleaned up the rest of the mess they had made in their employer's office.
Young male voice: Ye-ah, these are the people you wanna trust your happy ending to.
Arisa only sighed at the two of her bumbling employees in exasperation as her flatscreen instantly turned to the channel she had been looking for.
Young male voice (continued): Ah, here's our story.
It was then that a charcoal-grey-haired teenage girl showed up in the story.
Young male voice (continued): Remember her? She was the chick with the whole 'evil, evil, blah, blah, blah' speech about a minute ago. Anyway, let me fill all of you in on everyone in this particular tale from Sohma Land. We have got six evil foster sisters.
The charcoal-grey-haired girl was talking with her sisters. Then, they all started screaming like rabid fangirls… extremely rabid fangirls, that is.
Young male voice (continued): Delicate flowers of womanhood, I know.
The story then projected itself to a young woman all dressed in black.
Young male voice (continued): One fairy godsister. I know what you're thinking; shouldn't she actually be a fairy godmother? That's what I told the writers. I'll just tell you what they told me about it. Considering that the fairy godsister, as we're calling her, is technically the exact same age as the heroine of this tale, it would not make as much sense as you would probably imagine for her to be called a fairy godmother instead of a fairy godsister.
Then, the story showed a young man in a sexy outfit, a very beautiful young man in a sexy outfit.
Young man's voice: One Prince Charming.
A young girl came up to said prince and gave him a beautiful rose.
The 'Prince': Thank you very much.
The prince then grew a slightly saddened smile on his face, but the girl mistook it for a real smile and only swooned at the prince's beauty.
Young male voice: Hold the self-confidence of an actual prince.
The story then showed a girl in a ragged scullery maid outfit but terribly beautiful of face and innocent of heart.
Young male voice (continued): And then, there's one fair maiden, the 'Cinderella' of our story. Her name was Tohru Honda. Her evil foster sisters might think of her as nothing but a servant, but she's only the best thing to ever happen to Sohma Land, if you want my opinion. She's completely in love with the number one prince of this land. What does Tohru even see in Prince Girly-Boy? I've no idea what, but just look at her. She's beautiful beyond any reasoning. She's also got such a big heart. A girl like her could never go for an ordinary guy like_
The narrator suddenly cleared his throat upon realizing just what he was getting ready to say.
Young male voice (continued): You all might probably be wondering, at this point, exactly who I am. Well, why don't you just have a look?
The story had suddenly hoped for the narrator to be the most important prince of Sohma Land.
Young male voice (continued): No. Not silver-hair MacSecretly-Depressed.
The camera from within the story then looked to the moody prince's right and showed yet another member of his family with blonde hair who seemed pretty hyperactive and child-like. He also seemed as though he had a bit of a thing for candy and sweets.
Young male voice (continued): Ew, no. Not that guy. Look to the silver-haired prince's left.
The camera from the story began heading back towards the left and just past the most important prince in all of Sohma Land.
Young male voice (continued): Keep going.
The story's camera finally reached an orange-haired member of the prince's family with an even more brooding expression on his face.
Young male voice (continued): There I am. My name is Kyo Sohma and I'm just related to Prince Yuki Sohma.
The story's camera rested upon his visage and even zoomed in on his boyish good looks.
Kyo Sohma's voiceover: You guys remember the story of 'Cinderella', right? Remember all of the prince's relatives, both close and distant? Of course, you don't remember even one of them. We're not the ones who get our ideal soulmate at the end of it all. Oh, no, no, no, no. Every last one of us just settles for whomever we come across.
It was then that another one of the prince's relatives, a girl with dark-brown hair to be exact, came rushing in a fury towards Kyo. If only she were a welcome suitor to her own orange-haired relative.
Kyo Sohma's voiceover (continued): And you know what kinda happy endings those are? Right. None.
Of course, Prince Yuki Sohma just wore an amused expression on his face as though seeing his own relative suffer in such a way was the only thing that brought him joy in his life.
Kyo Sohma's voiceover (continued): So that's everyone important, and me. OK, let's get back to the title now.
The girls from atop Prince Yuki Sohma's balcony showed back up as the story's title once again spelling out the words 'Happily N'Ever After'. All six of the evil foster sisters just continued to cackle up a perfect storm of evil chuckles at what they were doing to Sohma Land.
Kyo Sohma's voiceover (continued): Happier music, please.
The soundtrack started to play happier music, alright. The happier music, however, was none other than the love song from the movie 'Titanic', 'My Heart Will Go On' by Celine Dion. Kyo, the narrator, only grew annoyed with the song, though.
Kyo Sohma's voiceover (continued): Please, anything at all but that.
The soundtrack then played a different tune with the song of 'Got Me Goin' Crazy' by the Jonas Bros.
Kyo Sohma's voiceover (continued): Yeah, I guess that'll do.
The opening credits of the story with the cast list suddenly began to roll in, along with all of their descriptions.
