Chapter 6: A Hero's Duty
"Servant?" Rumi asked, tensing her muscles. She noticed that Jackie was still on guard, so Rumi stayed on guard
"Relax, we're not in a war right now," Sherlock was addressing Jackie, but Rumi's ears perked up. War?
"War? What war?" Ryuko voiced Rumi's thoughts. Sherlock turned to Tsukauchi and nodded.
"Alright, I'll leave you to it," Tsukauchi said before turning to Rumi and Ryuko. "Don't worry. Sherlock is safe. He won't hurt you."
Before Rumi could respond, Tsukauchi spoke into a walkie talkie and a couple police officers came and handcuffed Stain. Jackie, Ryuko, and Rumi were too busy keeping their eyes on Sherlock to divert their focus to Tsukauchi and the police detaining Stain. As soon as the three left, Sherlock spoke again.
"First of all, let me inform you about the nature of your child," Sherlock took a look at the small child and frowned. "This child is a servant, a spirit of a famous figure summoned by the holy grail."
"Oh, really?" Rumi didn't believe Sherlock for a second. Sure, Jackie was strong, but she just had a strength quirk, right?
"Rumi…" Ryuko placed a hand on her lover's shoulder. "He might have a point."
"What are you talking about?!" Rumi whipped around to glare at Ryuko. "You're the one who picked up the child! I thought you loved her!"
"I still do," Ryuko looked at Jackie, her face unreadable. "I love her. I would still die for her, but Sherlock might have a point. No child… no child could exude that much bloodlust."
Rumi's expression changed as she felt Ryuko shake. There was definitely something wrong.
"Well, who is it then?" Rumi snapped at Sherlock. "If Jackie is a servant or whatever, who is she? She's just Jackie!"
"Servant: Assassin," Sherlock looked into Rumi's eye, staring into her soul, "Jack the Ripper."
Todoroki Enji was in a shitty mood. It's only been a few days since Touya left and Enji hadn't been taking it well. He still blamed the little shit for running away, but he really expected him to come back and grovel at his feet by now. But now, he was taking his anger out on villains.
""Get back here, scum!" He shouted as he let loose a jet of fire on a villain who was running away. The villain seemed to have a speed quirk and was called for assaulting a person and fleeing the scene. Endeavor just happened to be in the area.
In the corner of his eye, he saw a wooden building catch fire. Enji paid it no mind, though. The villain was the only thing that mattered. Said villain stopped, his eyes bulging at what Enji could only assume is the burning building.
"Wha—" The man was cut off by a flaming fist. Enji decked the man with all he had, sending the villain flying several walked up to the unconscious man and handcuffed him, a triumphant look on his face.
"And I thought I was a shitty hero," Enji whirled around when he heard a voice. When he did, he saw a man setting down a child. There were seven people behind him, all looking sufficiently shaken up. The man had bronze skin and silver, piercing eyes. Despite his hair being white, he had the appearance of a youthful man. A youthful man that was glaring at Enji with contempt.
"Identify yourself!" Enji demanded, his flames setting fire. Hero or not, this man insulted him, and he needed to be taught a lesson.
"Me?" The man smirked, which managed to piss Enji off even more. With a blue glow, black and white swords appeared in the man's hands. "I'm just a Nameless Archer."
"I know it's a lot to take in," Sherlock said as Rumi and Ryuko sat down in the man's office. Sherlock insisted that this conversation be continued in private, and luckily, the police station wasn't too far from their location.
Ryuko beckoned Jackie over and the servant hopped up on the hero's lap. Ryuko smiled as she started to pet her daughter's head. Human or spirit, she still loved her. "What Jackie is doesn't matter. What do I need to know to help take care of her?"
Ryuko looked down and smiled at Jackie, who seemed to care a lot more about the headpats her Mommy was giving her rather than the serious conversation they were having.
"The grail is fortunately completely sustaining our existence, so there's no need for a contract," Sherlock began, lighting a pipe. "You just need to understand that she is a servant. She will likely be stronger than anyone in this world, save for All Might maybe. She also shouldn't be treated like a normal child. Be aware of her needs and adjust accordingly."
"Thank you," Ryuko nodded, looking down at Jackie.
"As a Ruler class servant, it is my responsibility to make sure the servants that are summoned acclimate themselves into this world properly," Sherlock merely smiled. "If you manage to run into any other servants, please send them my way."
Ryuko and Rumi looked at each other and nodded. The two stood up, Ryuko carrying Jackie gently. "Thank you for the information, Sherlock. We'll be sure to keep in touch," Ryuko said.
"Anytime," Sherlock said. With that, the couple left Sherlock's office. As soon as they left, Sherlock took out his notebook and started writing.
Saber:
Archer: Traditional bow and arrow. Fond of children(?)
Lancer:
Rider:
Caster:
Assassin: Jack the Ripper. Currently residing with Miruko and Ryukyuu.
Berserker:
Ruler: Sherlock Holmes, detective at Musutafu police station.
As he put his notebook away, the phone started to ring. Sherlock sighed. A hero's work is never finished.
Endeavor fell to one knee, his left hand covering a nasty cut on his right arm. His body was littered in cuts and scratches that the Archer had inflicted upon him.
"What the hell are you?!" Enji shouted. The man was completely unschated, moving at speeds that Enji's trained eye could barely track. It didn't seem like the man wanted to kill him, however. The nameless Archer had many opportunities to land a lethal strike but opted to leave a small yet painful scar on his body.
:I told you. I'm just a nameless Archer," the Archer replied idly, examining his blades before looking back at him. "I honestly expected a lot more from the number two hero."
"Why you—" Enji concentrated fire in his hands and flung it at Archer. "Ignited Arrow!"
"Rho Aias," Archer held up his hand and spoke casually. Seven brilliant petals blazed to life in front of him, the fire dissipating against the shield. It was overkill, as the arrows couldn't even damage a single petal, but it was about the message. "I'd ask you to give up, but we both know you're too stubborn to do that."
"You…" Enji growled, biting back several curses.
"I'm sure that prolonging this conflict is meaningless, Archer," A man's voice interrupted the battle. The nameless Archer turned to see a man wearing a sleek black suit and impeccably combed hair.
"Who are you?" Archer asked. The brilliant flower vanished, only to be replaced by the twin blades once again.
"I simply go by Ruler," The man, Ruler, introduced himself. The Archer's blades disappeared as a scowl formed on his face. His response was only a single word.
"Shit."
"Care to explain, Ruler?" EMIYA eyed the nameplate on Ruler's desk. He tried to remember if he had met the man in his previous incarnations. Chaldea, maybe? His memories were too fragmented to tell.
"Sorry about that," Sherlock unlocked the handcuffs that were on EMIYA. The detective had handcuffed EMIYA and took him away in order to appease Endeavor, but EMIYA could tell that Sherlock had no intentions of actually arresting him.
"I'm still wondering why we're here," EMIYA sat down on one of the chairs and sighed. "The grail provided me with information of this world, but didn't give me a purpose."
"Yes, that seems to be the case," Sherlock took out a notebook and started writing. "It seems that we have been left to our own devices. I recently met up with Assassin, who is now living with a nice couple."
"Assassin?" EMIYA did a double take. "Who was summoned?"
"Jack the Ripper," Sherlock looked up from his notebook to gauge the Archer's expression.
Poor fools, EMIYA chuckled. While the Archer may not remember Sherlock, he definitely remembered Jack.
"Anyways, I wanted to clear something up with you," Sherlock said. "Were you the one who killed the Hitoshis a few days ago? I detected a little bit of magical energy in the arrows that killed them."
"I have yet to kill anyone in this world," EMIYA said. "Do you think it was a Rider? Seems like Assassin is out of the equation."
"Something tells me it isn't," Sherlock rubbed his chin. "I looked into it a little bit, and it can't be anything other than an Archer."
"If that's the case…" EMIYA leaned into his chair.
"There's more than one Archer," Sherlock concluded.
A/N: Thank you for reading! I've been reading all your servant requests and you've given me a bunch of good ideas! I'll definitely be taking them into account. Thank you to jarc503okami for suggesting EMIYA. Also yes, I will be putting more than one of each class. How many? Well, it's completely arbitrary so suggest whoever you want!
