As you finished baking your Christmas cookies, you sighed heavily.
These family holidays were always quite hard for you, having to be away from your hometown and all. You were lucky the Winchesters were there to save your life that day, all those years ago. Ever since, not a day goes by without you thinking of that place and everything you had to leave behind. That place demons destroyed, killing almost everyone in the neighborhood, your family included.
You've been in the bunker for all this time, you now call it home, but your old house... You keep remembering all these times you saw your mother and father cooking, the beautiful view from your room when the sun set, you could picture so vividly the backyard you used to play in as a child, with your dog Bubbles...
You decided to get yourself together and focus on something else. You felt an overall happiness to be spending Christmas with your chosen family though and you were immensely grateful they accepted you in theirs.
You smiled to yourself as you heard them in the war room, fighting over who gets to put the star on top of the tree.
"Dean stop!" you heard Sam object, "you are just... not tall enough."
Ouch.
Silence.
You could practically feel the older brother fuming. You thought bringing the cookies out now would be a good idea to calm these children down.
When Dean saw the plate you were carrying, his face softened and a satisfied smile crept on his face "alright, whatever, put the damn star up there I don't even care, I'll keep the cookies!" he said with that childish attitude of his. You shook your head smiling.
"Hey, where's Cas?" You asked as your eyes searched the room, "I haven't seen him for days, where's he hiding?"
"I think he's downstairs, he's- wow!" Sam yelled, nearly falling from the chair he was on to reach the top of the tree.
"Ha!" laughed Dean, mouth full of cookies, pointing at his now annoyed brother.
You took the stairs to look for the missing angel and you found him at a table, totally absorbed by whatever he was doing as he did not feel you creeping up on him from behind.
"Watcha doing down here all by yourself?" You teased, whispering in his ear, trying to have a peak at what he was working on.
"Oh! Uh, no...nothing... I, uh-" you've never seem him so flustered and now, you kinda felt bad for that...
Before he could hide everything away, you looked at what was on the table and saw, among DIY stuff, a cute snow globe. As you looked closer, you recognized your old house, the backyard and even the small silhouette of a child playing with a dog...
"Bubbles..." you let out in disbelief, "what... you, you made that?"
"Yes. It was supposed to be a surprise." he paused, unsure of what to say next, "um, I know you don't like it when I do that but... I often catch you thinking of your old family home. You also dream of it. A lot. And I... I just took a quick look at what it looked like in your dreams I promise, I did not linger on..." Cas said, trying to apologize but you were not mad at all, how could you be?
"I just... I thought you would enjoy having it in your room..." he added.
You were still admiring it as tears were starting to gather at the edge of your eyes...
"That's the most perfect gift ever, thank you so so so much Cas! This means a lot..."
You felt him beside you relax and sigh in relief and you flashed him a smile, taking his hand in yours, "you are the best!"
At your words, he lowered his head and you could see a smile and a blush appear on his face.
