Chapter One: Hanging Out

"Thanks for hanging out with us today Alexis." Jake says as Alexis is hanging out with him and Chance.

"Yeah. Been a while considering you got that new job as a journalist. Always figured you'd stay with your sister Callie on thr news job." Chance says.

"Yeah. News just isn't my thing. I love my sister but I've got different interests than she does. Anyway sorry guys. I been busy." Alexis says.

"We noticed." Jake says.

"Yeah. Sorry. I promise I'll try to come see you more. But my boss doesn't always let me have a day off." Alexis says ashamedly.

"No sweat. We understand." Chance says.

"Yeah. What kind of friends would we be if we held work against you?" Jake asks.

"Besides we're always happy to see you even if it's only for a little while. Especially me." Chance says as Alexis blushes.

"Thanks guys." Alexis says as she smiles.

"So what are you writing about right now?" Jake asks curiously as he takes a drink from a water bottle.

"Well it's just a side project but I'm writing on the Swat Kats." Alexis says shyly.

"The Swat Kats?" Jake asks in surprise.

"Yeah." Alexis says.

"What are you writing on them for?" Chance asks curiously.

"Well I like what they do. They're certainly more help then Commander Feral is. Even on his good days he still can't match up to them." Alexis says.

"What good days? He never has any." Chance says as Jake laughs.

"Nice one Chance but you aren't the only one after the Swat Kats. Speaking of Feral he never gives up on looking for them does he?" Jake asks.

"No. You'd think he'd learn by now though." Alexis says as she smiles.

"Yeah. Oh sorry guys. Looks like the assistant at the office needs my help. The computer is down. I know the back up codes so I'm gonna help to get back the work she lost if I can." Alexis says as her phone buzzes and she sees a text message.

"Alright. See you Alexis." Jake says.

"I am off tomorrow though. If you want I can come by." Alexis says.

"Works for us. See ya then." Chance says as Alexis nods and leaves.

*Timeskip*

"Oh. I wish the power hadn't affected my laptop. I had all my journals on there." Alexis says annoyedly as she is with Jake and Chance the next day.

"Do you have it backed onto something?" Jake asks as he is looking at Alexis's laptop.

"No. Can you fix it Jake?" Alexis asks.

"Let me see. Ah-ha. Got it." Jake says as he gets the computer on as files open on it once it turns on.

"Thanks Jake! You guys are the best. How did you two get some good with tech and machines though?" Alexis asks happily as she hugs Jake and Chance.

"Practice." Chance says proudly.

"And a little tinkering never hurts." Jake says as he smiles.

"Tinkering and practice huh?" Alexis asks as she smiles.

"Yeah. What else?" Jake asks.

"Well still. Thank you." Alexis says as Jake looks at one of the open files.

"Hey is this the journal you're writing for the Swat Kats?" Jake asks.

"Huh? Oh yeah. It's not finished though." Alexis says.

"Oh boy. Feral is not gonna like you. You point out just about every time the Swat Kats one upped him." Jake says as he smiles.

"And frankly they have." Alexis says.

"Got that right. Those Swat Kats make for a better crime fighting team than Feral ever did." Chance says as Alexis smiles at him.

"I just wish I knew who they were so I could try to get some words from them to add to it. I'd like to add something more to it than just what I see." Alexis says as Jake and Chance give nervous looks.

"Oh uh well I'm sure they're pretty busy guys." Jake says.

"Yeah. I mean sure a spending time with a pretty girl is tempting but-" Chance then gets cut off by Jake.

"What Chance means to say is the Swat Kats are really aloof. I doubt you'd get that chance." Jake says as he answers the phone as it rings.

"Pretty girl huh? If I didn't know any better I'd say you were hiding something from me Chance." Alexis says as she smiles at Chance as he blushes.

"Us? Hiding something? I don't know what we could be hiding." Chance says nervously.

"Time to go buddy. Old lady needs us." Jake says as he looks at Chance.

"Sorry Alexis. Guess another time." Chance says as he and Jaka hurriedly leave.
