Kailyn watched Roman getting ready. He was humming a happy tune while smirking at his own mirror image. He knew exactly what he was doing and where he was going, and he chose to ignore how much it hurt her.

He was the one who wanted to open up their marriage. She was against it but he gave her no choice. He said it would happen and that was final. She had thought about divorce but she knew he would fight her tooth and nail on that. Their parents knew each other before they had children. They owned a business together where Roman also worked. He was being groomed to take over once their fathers were done. She was supposed to join the family business as well but she carved her own path in life. She was a baker. Something both families often looked down upon. She didn't care. Baking made her happy.

"I'm leaving," he said.

She moved her pastel green eyes over to meet his brown ones. She knew he saw the hurt in her eyes but he always chose to ignore it. He walked over to her, placed a hand on the back of her head, ruffled her short, sunflower blonde hair, and smiled at the mess he had created. She would comb it out the second he was gone. She knew he hated she cut it up to just below her ears which was why she didn't tell him before she went and had it done. It was one of her small moments of defiance.

"I'll see you later," he said.

He leaned down and kissed her. Whenever he would return tonight, he would smell of another woman. Whether it was the side chick he had already lined up before demanding to open their marriage or just a random hookup didn't matter. He never told her anyway. She dreaded the mornings after where he was always extra happy and wanted morning sex. She hated that he still smelled of another woman. She hated feeling his dick inside her, well knowing he hadn't cleaned up after the other woman the night before. It was one of his weird power trips.

"Don't wait up," he said.
"I might go out too," she said.

He raised his eyebrows and then slowly started smiling that creepy smile of his. He didn't believe her. That was clear.

"With who?" He asked.
"Carmella and Alexa," she answered.
"Team blonde," he smirked. "You should go before you wither away and dry up completely inside this house."

Those words hurt, and he knew it. At the same time it was also exactly what she needed to hear. She needed to go out, have some fun, and forget about her shitty marriage for one night. He pecked her lips again and walked out of the house. She took out her phone and called Carmella right away.

"Girlfriend!" Carmella answered. "Tell me you're coming with us."
"I'm coming with you," Kailyn said.
"Kailyn's coming!" Carmella yelled.
"Yes!" Alexa yelled in the background.

Kailyn couldn't help but giggle at her friends' happy outburst. It felt good knowing someone still had her best interest at heart like they did. She needed a night out with her friends, just dancing and drinking her sorrows away.
