Chapter 8 (Cute Attack)

All of the sudden, Kiba stands from his chair. He looks as though he wants to say something but he just stares at Issei. This action creates another bout of silence for the room's inhabitants. Issei looks over at Kiba who now has a very serious frown on his face. Issei tilts his head. Koneko, seeing this, now turns her head back, whispering in Issei' left ear, "Kiba has a very tragic past and he never talks about it. He wants revenge too."

Issei nods slowly while keeping his gaze on the knight. Issei then looks at Koneko, shrugging his shoulders and tilting his head again, understanding this action, Koneko assumes the position, allowing Issei to begin to scribble down something. Looking at Kiba while occasionally looking toward his sheet of paper, the entire time writing, he then finishes, tapping Koneko on the shoulder, letting her know she can readjust herself once again. He then folds the note into a quickly made paper airplane, shortly after, tossing it toward Kiba.

Leaving his temporary stupor, Kiba notices this flying toy. Catching the airplane, Kiba then smiles in amusement. Unfolding the note, Kiba starts to read it. He then gasps, while shoving the piece of paper into his pocket. Rias, Akeno and Koneko are all looking at Kiba in anticipation, however he just stares at the floor, with a strange smile on his face. The girls then look at Issei who shakes his head with his eyes closed.

Akeno understood this action and said something, "that's a conversation between Issei and Kiba. It has nothing to do with us." Hearing those words, Issei looks at Akeno, nodding while having a very slight smile on his face. Rias then stands up as well, placing her hand on Kiba's shoulder, "well, at least I can say that I am pretty sure that the two of you are going to get along." Kiba looks back at his king and smiles again, "I think we speak the same language." Rias pats the spot where she was touching Kiba, "don't you even think for one moment that I've forgotten about my cute Knight! One day, I promise, Kiba! Please be patient with your inexperienced King, I assure you, Kiba, I am doing my best."

Rias's smile turns into a worrisome frown. The blond knight could not bring himself to allow his past to affect the happiness of the one person who means more to him than anyone. The big sister he never had. She brought him into a family, something he knew nothing of. He will protect his big sister with his life, he owes her that much. Smiling back at Rias, "don't say such things about yourself, President. I am very proud and honored to be in such a family!" Rias's frown turns upside down while she is hugging her knight.

Issei is watching all of these events, studying these new people, watching the dynamics between them but more so…. "This Rias Gremory… being the sister of Satan, I would've pegged her from one of two types of people. The first obviously being evil and cruel. That didn't seem to be the case here. What about the 2nd option? Number two, Rias Gremory is a spoiled rotten princess who treats her servants like dirt. Well, I don't seem to be noticing any of that behavior either. Could it be that she is putting on a show for me, in order to trick me?"

Issei now turns his head toward Akeno, who is just staring him down. He looks closely at her eyes again, so much so that makes the lady feel uneasy, forcing her to finally break eye contact. Issei has a half smile, "I think I am just being paranoid." He turns his attention toward the neko on his lap, however the response he gets from staring at her eyes was completely different. After only 2 seconds of looking into Koneko's eyes, she reacted in a way that was surprising to say the least. Putting both of her small hands on Issei's cheeks, (Issei's eyes are now wide with shock), she then kisses Issei on his left cheek. "CHU" This action did not go unnoticed as the entire room stopped what they were doing, looking at a very blushing Koneko, who now had her head buried in Issei's shoulder. In Issei's mind, one word continues to repeat, "So cute, so cute, so cute…"

Another surprise happened right after that moment. Issei had color in his face, he was blushing and he was smiling, a full and warm smile, something that hasn't been seen for almost an entire year. Also, Issei's arms were wrapped around the Neko without any intervention needed. Rias, Akeno and even Kiba, blush at the cuteness of their little Rook. Not one time did any of them see Koneko act like this. The cat girl wasn't interested in anything, aside from sweets and snacks. Clearly, this was no longer the case and it seems as though the entire peerage was on board with this new Koneko.

Rias then claps her hands once in order to gain everyone's attention. "It's settled then, Issei' you are going to join the Occult Research Club. After School tomorrow, please make your way to the old school building and please, don't worry, everything is going to be alright. I will send Kiba and Koneko to collect you once final classes are over with, is that alright?" Issei looks at Rias, then a blushing Akeno. Issei then looks toward the side of Koneko's head, (as she still has her face buried in his shoulder), afterwards, a final glance toward Kiba. Issei nods while smiling.
