Please review. It helps me so much! Thank you!

Stefan.

Stefan walked down the street after having dinner at Elena's house. He was very angry at himself.

How could you do that Stefan?! He yelled at himself in his mind. What if she figures out you're a vampire?! She won't love you anymore! He thought vigorously but then he remembered something. It's not your fault Stefan. You can't control your urges. He thought to himself, opening the door to the Salvatore boarding house.

"Hey Stef," a male voice greeted Stefan from the couch, immediately forcing Stefan out of his own thoughts.

"Damon?" He questioned. "How did you get out of your room?"

"Did you forget I'm a stubborn vampire?" Damon smiled evilly. Stefan gave him a dirty look.

"Go back to sleep," Stefan instructed.

"Come on!" Damon groaned. "I've been doing nothing all day! While you are out having the time of your life!" Damon complained.

"Sleep. Now," Stefan demanded. Damon let out a dramatic sigh.

"I don't want to!" Damon pouted.

"Damon, you need to sleep. You look like shit," Stefan stated.

"Ouch!" Damon squealed. "You know a truck could run my face over and I would still be better looking than you," Damon mocked.

"Damon. Enough with the jokes. Go to bed,"

"Ugh!" Damon sighed dramatically, standing up. Stefan speed ran to his older brother's side. Stefan put his arm under Damon's. "Let go of me! I don't need your help to walk! I'm not incompetent!" Damon yelled, in between curses. Stefan hauled the over dramatic vampire to his room. He closed the door and locked the door. Damon was not going to leave his bedroom this time. Stefan was going to make sure Damon got the sleep he needed. Stefan saw Damon's eyes widen in horror when Stefan locked the door. Damon looked like a caged wild animal looking for any way to escape. This caused Damon's eyes to turn a dark blue color. "C-c-can you unlock the door please," he whimpered. Stefan saw Damon's eyes gloss over. Damon's eyes were just begging Stefan to unlock the door.

Damon just said "please"! Stefan thought. He must be serious, because he never says please. Stefan thought, quickly unlocking the door and he immediately felt Damon's body relax, and his eyes went back to the light blue color they usually are. Stefan put Damon in his bed, and put the covers on top of him

"Aw, look Stefan's playing Mommy," Damon joked weakly. Stefan could tell that Damon was losing his voice.

"Just go to sleep, Damon," Stefan sighed exhaustingly.

"Fine," Damon replied hesitantly. Stefan didn't miss the hesitation in his voice. Stefan sat down on the edge of Damon's bed. Stefan was exhausted, but he would stay up forever if it meant that Damon would fall asleep. Stefan sat and watched his older brother try to sleep. Stefan felt so bad for Damon. He wondered when the last time Damon slept was.

After about an hour he heard Damon's breaths even out, and Damon's body untensed. Stefan slowly stood up and closed the door behind him, careful not to wake up the sleeping vampire. Stefan crossed the hallway and went into his room. Stefan collapsed on his bed and fell asleep almost instantly.

Stefan got awoken to raw angonized tortured screaming. Stefan looked around for the potential threat, but he saw no one. He finally realized that the screaming was coming from across the hallway. Stefan leaped up out of his bed and sprinted out of the room and into the bedroom down the hall.

He opened the door and saw Damon sitting up in his bed, covered in a cold sweat. His breaths were coming out very unevenly, and his eyes were wide in horror. There were steady streams of tears falling down his cheeks like waterfalls. Stefan felt his own eyes gloss over at the sight. His brother looked tortured, his face was contorted with fear. As if he had seen the scariest thing in the world, that no one has ever seen but him.

Stefan used his vampire speed to run to his brother's side. He jumped up next to Damon.

"Hey," Stefan comforted, putting his hand on Damon's back. Stefan immediately felt his entire body fly, his back hit the wall and he got winded. Stefan quickly looked up at the bed and he saw Damon wasn't there anymore. He looked around wildly, searching for the frightened vampire. Stefan finally spotted Damon crammed in the corner. His eyes were even wider then they were before. Stefan slowly stood up trying to not scare Damon more than he already was. "Damon?" Stefan questioned, still moving slowly not to spook him. For some reason Stefan could tell that Damon couldn't see him. "Damon? Come on, you're scaring me," Stefan whispered, kneeling down in front of Damon. Stefan hesitantly wrapped his hand around the older brother's wrist. Damon flinched but finally seemed to realize Stefan was there.

"S-S-Stefan," he stuttered weakly.

"Yeah I'm right here," he comforted. "Are you okay?" He asked.

"Yes," he said.

Stefan gave him a look that read "please don't lie to me".

"Leave me alone," Damon replied. He was shaking so much. How could Damon think Stefan could believe that he was okay.

"Okay," Stefan responded, standing up. If Damon was going to play this game Stefan would play along until Damon gave in. He took a step away from the older brother, before he felt something grab his wrist tightly. Stefan turned around to see Damon was the one who grabbed his wrist.

"Please don't leave," he pleaded. Stefan smiled and kneeled down beside him again. The two brothers sat in silence for what seemed like hours until Damon's breathing finally evened out.

"So, do you want to tell me what it was about?" Stefan questioned softly. "Don't say it's nothing I know-" Stefan started but got interrupted by a knock on the door. "Saved by the bell," Stefan smiled, standing up. "I'll be back. I promise," Stefan reassured. Damon gave Stefan a very hesitant nod. Stefan used his vampire speed to run to the door. He opened the door and saw it was Elena.

"Elena?" Stefan questioned.

"What are you?!" Elena screamed in pure terror.

"What?" Stefan questioned.

Had she figured it out? There's no way. Stefan thought.

"What are you?!" She asked again.

"You know?" he stated, finally snapping back to reality.

"No. I don't," Elena responded.

"Yes you do. Or you wouldn't be here," Stefan stated calmly.

"It's not possible," Elena replied, still shaking. Stefan took a step towards Elena in order to reassure her, but she stepped back out of fear.

"Everything you believe is about to change," Stefan said, ignoring Elena's comment.

"What are you?!" She screamed even louder.

Stefan hesitated, finally having to say his biggest secret out loud. "I'm a vampire," he replied sadly. She went completely silent, and her eyes widened in complete terror.

"I shouldn't have come," Elena muttered in fear.

"No, please," Stefan replied sadly.

I just knew this was going to happen. He thought sadly. He walked towards her but she started running away from him. Stefan used his vampire speed to cut Elena off.

"How did you do that?!" Elena screamed.

"Please, don't be afraid of me," Stefan pleaded. Stefan grabbed her arm.

"Let go of me!" She yelled, pushing Stefan away from her. Stefan watched as she ran away from him. His eyes glossed over at the thought of the girl he loved being afraid of him. He waited for a bit and then decided he would talk to Elena. He quickly ran to her house and jumped through the window of her room. Elena screamed when Stefan pinned her against the wall.

"Elena, listen to me. I would never do anything to hurt you," Stefan pleaded sadly.

"All those people who died. That was you," Elena whispered terrified.

Oh my god Damon. That's what he must have been doing. Stefan thought.

"No, that wasn't me. That was Damon," Stefan explained. "I don't drink human blood. It's not how I chose to live," Stefan said sadly. "I don't hurt innocent people. But Damon does," he added. "You can hate me Elena. You just can't tell anyone," Stefan told her.

"Just get away from me!" Elena screamed.

"If you promise not to tell anyone,"

"I promise! Now get out of my house!" Elena trembled. Stefan nodded and jumped back out her window.

I just lost the girl I loved because of what I am. He thought. Dang it Katherine! He cursed Katherine for turning him in his head. Stefan speed ran to his house and slammed the door shut. Stefan heard a yelp from upstairs. He ran up the stairs and back into the room where Damon was.

"Who was that?" Damon questioned weakly. He had some of his color back now, and he had managed to haul himself onto the bed.

"It was Elena," Stefan mumbled. "I think she just broke up with me," he added.

"Maybe," Damon mocked. "She kind of found out that your a murderous creature," Damon pointed out.

Of course he was listening. Stefan thought angrily.

"Do you have to listen to my private conversations?" Stefan snapped at Damon.

"Yes I do, Stef. As a big brother it's my job to know that you're responsible," Damon smiled evilly.

"Are you really going to joke around as if nothing even happened?" Stefan questioned. This comment shut Damon up.

"You should probably sleep, Stef. You look exhausted," Damon said at last. "You want to get your little girlfriend back? She'll never love you again if you look like this," Damon added, gesturing to all of Stefan.

"Says you. Is your mascara running?" Stefan laughed. He was just met with murderous eyes. "I'm just saying, the circles under your eyes are kind of unbelievable," Stefan added.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever," Damon said in an annoyed tone. "I think we both could use some sleep," Damon smiled weakly.

"Yeah, I guess we do," Stefan replied. "Goodnight, Damon," Stefan sighed.

"Yeah you too," Damon grumbled sleepily, throwing the blankets over top of himself. Stefan smiled at the sight, it reminded him just for a second of who they used to be. He quietly closed the door.

Stefan silently prayed that once he went to sleep he wouldn't be awoken again from terrorized screaming. Stefan crashed onto his bed and immediately fell asleep.

Stefan stirred in his sleep as he heard a couple of noises until something sounded in his ear.

"Honey! There's someone at the door!" A high pitched voice screamed. Stefan opened his eyes and saw Damon standing over him. "Wake up sunshine," he said in the same high pitched voice. Stefan cursed at Damon under his breath. At this Damon bent over and hovered right over Stefan's ear. "Stefan! Didn't you hear me! I said someone is at the door!" He yelled into Stefan's ear, making the little brother jump.

"Why can't you get it?!" Stefan practically yelled.

"Okay. Your crippled brother will just hobble down the stairs," Damon sassed, starting to walk away.

"Okay, stop," Stefan replied, grabbing Damon's wrist. Damon turned back around to face Stefan with an evil smile. "I'll get it," Stefan said grumpily, finally getting out of bed. Still holding Damon's wrist, Stefan made a quick detour. He hauled Damon into his room. "Sleep," he demanded, shutting the door. The only thing he heard before he shut the door was a dramatic sigh. Stefan walked sleepily to the door and slowly opened it. The person at the door was someone who Stefan thought he would never be seeing again. "Elena?" He whispered in disbelief. Elena stood there looking down at the ground before she finally spoke.

"I couldn't stop thinking about you, Stefan," Elena said softly. Stefan nodded, not saying anything because he didn't want to push her. Especially since he didn't think she would ever talk to him again. "I know what you are," she said at last. "And I know the risk," she paused, looking back up at Stefan. "But I want to be with you," she told him. Stefan smiled slightly. "But you're going to tell me everything from now on," Elena stated.

"That's a deal," Stefan replied. "I can tell you everything now, if you want?" Stefan asked.

Elena shook her head. "No, I have to go, before Jenna finds out I snuck out," she explained. "But you can tell me all tomorrow," she answered.

"Okay," Stefan said, as Elena started to walk away. "And Elena?" He questioned, loud enough for her to hear him.

"Yeah?"

"I promise I won't do anything to hurt you," he promised. Elena just nodded and walked away. Stefan closed the door and let out a long sigh of relief.

I didn't lose Elena after all. He thought. And for Stefan that was all he really needed to know.
