Hi! It's been a very long while since I posted anything but I've had motivation and time to write more fanfiction, so here we are. And this is my first published work for the MHA fandom and this pairing (despite me having extensive Bakugou x Uraraka brain rot for months).

I hope you enjoy this little one-shot chapter that randomly came to mind.

Food holidays were dumb. At least that's what rising pro-hero Katsuki Bakugou believed. Every day it was some sort of special day dedicated to some random food that he definitely felt unworthy of a whole day.

Like National Vanilla Pudding Day?

Who gives a fuck?

Clearly his girlfriend of almost half a year does.

Ochako Uraraka, fellow rising pro-hero, rescue specialist, overall badass, and probably the love of his life, found great joy in celebrating these random obscure days whenever she could remember it.

As it turns out, his birthday is the same day as National Cheddar Fries Day and National Pineapple Upside-Down Cake Day. And he only knows this because in their third year at UA, Ochako dragged him out to lunch and treated him to the two foods.

No matter how much he protested against eating both foods presented before him, Ochako hit him with wide brown puppy dog eyes that twinkled in a way that Katsuki was able to at least try and stomach the dishes before him.

Why was it specifically cheddar fries only and not just cheese fries writ large?

It didn't make any fucking sense.

The next day he paid for his endeavors with extreme nausea but safe to say he only had himself and his crush on sugar personified to blame. A crush he finally turned into a relationship after a year of waiting after graduation.

A year too long, but now he can finally call himself Ochako Uraraka's boyfriend.

At least she never asked him to eat cheddar fries or pineapple upside-down cake ever again. The thought of it made his stomach churn in a sort of twisted Pavlovian response.

But she still got excited about whatever food day some random website told her it was.

It was a hyper-fixation of sorts that carried beyond their time at UA and into their careers as budding heroes.

She would come into the office and chime, "Hey Bakugou, it's National Chocolate Cake Day can we get some?" or "it's National Snack Day, let's get some snacks after work."

To which, he would often respond, "no you're going to make yourself sick constantly eating all that crap. Besides it's not even a real fucking holiday."

Ochako would promptly puff her pink-tinged cheeks to the delightful roundness that made his heart lurch into his throat.

And then he would roll his eyes, scoff, and the moment his crimson eyes fixed on her deep round pools, he'd suddenly change his mind.

"Fine, Cheeks, we can go get *whatever random food the internet calendar gods have dictated as the flavor of the day*."

Every.

Single.

Time.

Those round cheeks of hers were his damn Kryptonite. And to make things worse, she knew it, too.

A demon, that girlfriend of his.

A hungry demon to that end.

But today, he was going to one-up her with her fascination with these arbitrary days and treat her to a celebration without being prompted.

Katsuki had the day all planned out — the perfect surprise.

It was an easy Monday at their agency. They only had reports from the weekend to file. It took nearly the entire work day but not once Ochako did mention anything about what day it was.

Good .

The day proceeded fairly quickly, and around 5 p.m., the paperwork was all done and they could leave for the day.

"What do you want to do for dinner tonight?" Ochako beamed as she leaned over his desk.

He rolled his eyes, "You just bought groceries yesterday, Cheeks. Shouldn't you cook something?"

"Yes but I don't know what I want to cook. Help me pick." She gently tapped her index finger to the tip of his nose.

"Oi, did you just fucking boop me?"

Ochako broke out into a fit of giggles, forcing his furrowed brows to soften.

"Tch fine, I'll help you pick, but," he leaned in close to her with a smarmy grin spread across his face, "you have to spar with me first."

The loads of paperwork left him feeling uncomfortably sedentary, and his master surprise plan needed to work up an appetite. Specifically hers.

Ochako pouted and blew a puff of air to wisp one of her bangs out of her face.

It was a relatively productive sparring session. In every match, he pinned her, but she landed some solid hits on his ribs and shoulders.

Those are definitely going to bruise.

But he swelled with pride knowing that during every spar, every time they trained, she would give him her all. Even when bruised and exhausted, she never let up.

One of the many reasons he loved her.

After about forty-five minutes or so of training he was ready for the next stage of his plan.

"Alright Cheeks, I'll walk you home so you can make dinner." He made his way to the locker room to grab his belongings, with her quickly on his tail.

Sunset began to settle in the August summer sky, painting it delicate hues of orange and pink.

Our colors.

Katsuki chuckled at the thought, to which Ochako gently nudged his rib cage, "What's so funny Bakugou?"

He blinked down at her momentarily and then averted his gaze forward, "Don't worry about it, Cheeks. So what do you want to cook for dinner?"

She hummed and pursed her lips, "Let's see. I bought noodles. I have eggs, some veggies, and some diced chicken."

"Okay so stir fry?"

"No, it's too hot to make stir fry."

"It's summer you idiot. It's going to be hot to make anything."

"That's not true! You could make cold soba!"

"You still have to boil the water and cook the noodles," he playfully flicked her forehead as he turned a corner, absent-mindedly turning her with him in what she thinks is the way back home to her apartment.

"Ow Bakugou, that hurt!"

"Tch no it didn't, Round Face, don't be a baby."

She huffed and rounded her cheeks once again. He had to fight every urge to poke the air out of her cheeks.

So soft.

So round.

So cute.

They kept walking down the side streets of Mustafu while she rambled about what she wanted to cook for dinner, which quickly changed into where they should go for dinner next week.

It's only Monday. How is she already thinking of the weekend?

One of Katsuki's favorite qualities she possessed was that she could talk.

And talk.

And talk.

Which meant less talking for him, whether it was their friends, or the press.

All he needed to do was just listen to her ramble, and Katsuki could listen to her ramble for hours.

She spoke with such an infectious brightness that he often found himself enraptured by her.

Today, he needed her to keep talking. Keep her distracted. Keep her from realizing that he actually wasn't walking her home.

Katsuki memorized their route so not to check his phone or seem suspicious.

He just needed to listen and direct her to their destination.

"Hey wait a minute," she mumbled.

Fuck.

"This isn't the usual way we take back to my apartment."

"Nope, we're taking a different way today." He began chewing on the inside of his cheek.

Stall Katsuki stall. Just a few more blocks.

"Why are we taking a different way today?"

"Don't worry about it."

"What do you mean don't worry about it?" even in the darkened shroud of dusk he could see her raised eyebrow.

"Exactly what I said. Don't fucking worry about it."

"C'mon tell me where we're going, what is it?"

"Can it, brat and just be patient."

Another huff followed by silence.

He could work with silence at this point in their route.

"Katsukiiiiii," she whined.

His shoulders slackened hearing his name roll off her lips. He had to quash the sudden pang to plant a kiss on those lips.

Not yet.

Just one more turn.

"Alright we're here," he said coolly, stopping them in front of a bright-light store front, with pink, green, and white blobs artistically frosted on the front window.

She froze, streetlights twinkling in her eyes, mouth agape, "Wh-what's this?"

"It just opened last week. They have almost every type of mochi you can think of."

"Even mochi donuts?!" she cheered, wide smile plastered on her face, eyes lit up but not directed at the store front; eyes focused right on him.

He balked ever so slightly at her unbridled joy.

Too bright.

Seeing her happiness made his heart flip. Maybe food holidays weren't that dumb after all.

And now they had something to celebrate every August 8th.

His lips turned upward in a soft smile, "Even mochi donuts."

Ochako squealed giddily, sliding her fingers between his own and pulling him forward, "C'mon, let's go!"

Before she could rush too far ahead, Katsuki squeezed her hand and gently pulled her back toward him.

As she tripped back into him, Katsuki bent down, placing a gentle kiss on her soft cheek.

"Happy Mochi Day, Ochako."

Happy Mochi Day! It might be August 9th in most parts of the world but at the time I posted this it was still August 8th so I'm still claiming it./

Hope you enjoyed this little piece and hope to have more Bakugou x Uraraka content in the future, as well as other content when I can.

Love,
