AN: I am back! I have not written in a while, life got in the way. I hope you enjoy this one shot.
Henry walked downstairs to a buzz of his kids discussing school, parties, and other random stuff. Ali and Stevie had ganged up as usual on Jason, who was fighting back with his sisters. Elizabeth was on her phone typing away, while sipping on her coffee.
"Morning, babe" He smiled and walked over to her, placing a kiss on her cheek. Elizabeth smiled back him. "Morning, I was just talking to Will, his friend Elijah from medical school is coming to D.C. for some conference. He might stop by for dinner!".
Henry poured his coffee trying to remember him. "Hmm..I think I met him once, back when me and you went to visit Will. Wasn't he also Wills, roommate and mentor?"
"Yeah he was, and get this, he is the founder for this amazing nonprofit organization that sends medical supplies to countries in poverty. I am meeting him for lunch, maybe I can help him out, you know become bigger".
Stevie came to put her plate down, overhearing her parent's conversation. "Wait, I have heard about him, he done some amazing work for the society. Didn't uncle Will mentioned, he tried to ask you out". Stevie blurted out, and then realized her dad probably didn't know.
Elizabeth gave a Stevie a look, turning to face Henry who looked at her surprised. "He what? You never told me!". Stevie took this as cue to leave her parents.
"Henry, it really was nothing! He was Wills mentor and was really there for him when I couldn't be. Plus, I said no because I was with you already." Elizbeth walked over to him, putting her hands on his neck, giving a kiss on his cheek. Henry was not convinced. He was not naïve to attention his wife gets from other men. She was not only brilliant, but beautiful and sexy.
Elizabeth phone buzzed; it was Russell calling her to come to white house. "Okay, babe I gotta go. I will see you tonight" She shuffled out gathering her stuff and giving Henry a quick kiss on the cheek. Henry watched her leave not fully convinced by the whole deal.
Henry was in his office grading papers when he got a text message from Elizabeth it said
Hey babe, can you pick up a bottle of red wine, it's Elijah favorite. Thanks love you
Henry puffed, replying with a quick okay before throwing the phone on the table. He didn't understand why he was being so bothered by Elijah. He was just an old friend who visiting for dinner.
Elizabeth walked in to her house later at night with the Henry making dinner and the kids were setting up the plates. She walked over to Henry giving him a quick kiss on the cheek. "Henry, dinner looks amazing". Henry smiled back at her, wrapping his hand around her waist, pulling her towards him for a kiss. He reluctantly let go of her when the kids started complaining "Gross, dad, we still are here," said Ali. Just then the doorbell ranged, Elizabeth walked over to open it. As soon ashe opened it, Elijah walked in with a big smile. He was 6 feet tall, olive color skin, dark brown hair, and blue eyes.
"Eliza! It is so nice to see you!" He gave her a quick hug and an a kiss on her cheek. He handed her the red roses he brought her. Just then Henry walked in. Elijah shook his hand, smiling. "And you must, Henry, nice to meet you". Henry smiled back trying to hide his annoyance at him. Elizabeth turned to Elijah, "Come meet the kids!".
They walked over to the living room where the kids had already struck a conversation with Elijah much to Henry dismay. He walked over to Elizabeth who was in the kitchen opening the wine bottle. "Why, does he call you Eliza", your name is Elizabeth!? " He said annoyance in his tone. Elizabeth looked at him, surprised. "Babe, it's just a nick name!" Elizabeth was about to say something when Ali called her over.
Henry stared at him, talking to his wife and kids with such ease as if he had known them for years. He gulped down a glass of wine, waiting for this dinner to be over.
