Sasuke
I'm usually never touchy with anyone. I flinch when anybody touches my shoulder or tries to pat me on the back. I hate when people grab my hand or throw an arm around me,
but at this moment I didn't mind touching Sakura.
She was still struggling to get air so I lifted her by her underarms so that her head was higher but she could still hold onto me.
Eventually, she placed her feet back onto the ground, dug her face into my arm, and choked on her tears. I held on gently. "I should've made Naruto check what the movie was about, otherwise this wouldn't have happened. I'm sorry."
She didn't answer me. Instead, she tightened her grip and dug her head even deeper into my bicep. She continued to cry for a few more minutes until she started to calm down just a bit when she managed to croak, "It's not your fault. Just promise you won't leave me here, please." She said.
I pulled Sakura's head out from my arm. Her face was red and her eyes were swollen from crying. Her neck had streaks from her trying to claw at her throat. I wiped her tears away with my thumbs. I looked into her eyes. "I swear I won't. Sakura." I said. She managed to give me a weak smile and pressed her head back into my arm and let the rest of her tears stream until she was breathing normally.
Eventually, she had settled to sniffs and minimal crying. "Do you wanna go inside?" I asked.
She nodded. "Y-yeah. I need to see Naruto though. Make sure he's alright."
I pursed my lips. She needed to check if Naruto was okay. She's worried about him? I wanted to smack him upside the head. Despite this, I nodded and helped her into the house. She was stiff.
Naruto was sitting at the table with his head in his hands. When he heard the door shut he rushed over and grabbed Sakura by the shoulders. She flinched and gave him a distorted look.
"Sakura. I-I'm so sorry! I had no idea. I didn't even realize that it was going to affect you like that when I saw the plane scene come up. I didn't even notice you I-,"
"It's okay." She assured him. "I just want to sleep."
"Do you need anything?!" Naruto asked. He looked guilty.
"I'll help, "I said and shot him a look.
I walked Sakura upstairs and he sat her on her bed. She stared forward and had a pleading but empty look on her face. "I'll be right back. I need to speak to him." I said and hurried downstairs.
I saw a concerned Naruto, practically yanked him into the gym room, and shut the door. "What the hell dude?" I hissed after pushing him to the nearest wall. "Sakura can barely move! She literally could not breathe! How did you not think to turn the movie off the second you saw that damned plane?"
I began to comb my fingers through my hair. I wiped a hand across my face and grunted. "Seriously, Naruto.."
"I feel like shit. What do ya' want me to say?" He pleaded while crossing his arms and looking down at his feet. "I can't believe I screwed up like that. Me!"
"If you want to be with her and shit, maybe start thinking about stuff!" I retorted.
"Shut the hell up Sasuke! All I do is think about Sakura! I slipped up once. And why do you care so much about 'er anyways? I thought the "All Mighty Sasuke Uchiha" didn't care about anyone." He mumbled the last part.
He caught me a little off guard. "It's Sakura. And even if it wasn't, you were still careless as f*ck." I stormed out of the room and up the stairs.
Sakura was curled into a ball on her bed, playing with a loose string on her comforter. I sat down in front of her on the floor.
"Anything I can do?" I asked awkwardly.
Sakura finally looked back up at me and met my eyes. She then looked back away. "Could you like... sleep in here?" She said in a whisper.
I hesitated for a moment, but nodded and put my index finger up to signal that I would be gone again for a minute. After retrieving a sheet from my room I crept back into her vicinity and seated myself on the ground by her head, leaning my back against her bedside.
She mouthed a shaky "thank you" to me.
I nodded, calculated my next move, scooched closer, and placed my palm on the bed right by her face.
She glanced at my hand and slowly pulled hers out from underneath her, placing it squarely next to mine, just enough for our thumbs to connect.
We would never talk about it again, but we both knew that this gesture steadied her heart, which is why she fell asleep immediately.
