Sakura

I woke up to the sound of a soft thud. My eyes peeled open and A bundle of black hair was barely visible over the edge of my bed. I carefully tapped him on the shoulder. No response.

"Sasuke," I whispered.

I squeezed my arm a little farther up and tapped his shoulder again. His head moved a little but he stayed asleep. "Sasuke-" I said a little bit louder.

Finally, he jolted up and snapped his head around. His expression contorted. "Was I snoring?" He asked hurriedly as he sat up straighter on the floor.

"What? No-You just looked uncomfortable."

"I'm fine," Sasuke said. "You?" He asked me. He was barely awake but his tone held a hint of him.

Memories from last night's panic attack flashed through my head. I did surprisingly sleep despite the trauma. "Yes. Thank you for staying." I answered while looking him in the eyes.

Sasuke offered me a rare look. "Hungry?" He asked as he got up.

"A little but I'm more nauseous," I said as I rubbed my aching temple. "I should probably go talk to Naruto."

He frowned and stared at me, annoyed. "I'll get you Advil for your headache." He stated plainly and headed downstairs. I sighed, got up, and ventured to Naruto's room.

I knocked on his door. No answer.

I knocked again. Still no answer. Naruto always answers my knocks.

"Naruto? Hey, it's Sakura, can I come in?" Still no answer. I grunted in defeat and pushed his door open.

Naruto was lying on his side away from me. I couldn't tell if he was awake. Knowing better I sat down by him and shoved his shoulder. "Naruto?"

"Hm?" He muttered. He was awake. Has been for a while.

"You okay?" I asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine."

"Naruto, what's wrong?" I asked again and shoved his shoulder a little harder. He grunted but stayed silent.

"Naruto?" I asked in a more annoyed tone.

He sat up aggressively and glared at me. "I'm fine Sakura. You're not. Sasuke won't let me breathe about it. I'm so sorry but I just can't talk to you right now." He said sternly and lied back down.

"Naruto I'm not mad at you! You didn't know." I said as I shoved his shoulder multiple times. No response. "Hey, asshole!" I spat as I started shoving his body back and forth. When he still wouldn't speak I gave up and pinched his upper arm with as much force as I could muster.

Finally, he hissed as he shot up from his side and pushed me away. "Geez, dude–Okay! I'll talk to you." I smiled in minor victory. "What?" He asked and tried to hide the scowl his face so badly wanted to let out.

"Will you please get out of this void you're in and go back to, like, not this?" I asked as he looked annoyingly at me. "I'll even go to the race with you."

His face finally gave in and huge relief showed up. "You will? You don't have to. Especially not after what happened."

"No, if it will lighten your mood I promise to but you need to promise me to not drink," I said and crossed my arms.

"Yeah, sure whatever!"

I smiled and swatted him on the back. "Great, now get up. The race is tonight and you need to be in a good mood." I ordered, climbed off his bed, and went downstairs.

Sasuke was seated at the table with a mug. I sat down next to him and avoided eye contact. It was awkward now, especially after last night's chaos. He looked up and pushed a glass of water toward me.

"Here." He said and dropped two Advils in my palm. "Take it. You feel like shit right now."

I mirrored his frown but let a little gratitude peek through my face. "Thank you." I finally said.

Sasuke rested his head on his hand— pointer finger touching his eye— and stared at the wall, continuing the expressionless glance. Finally, he gave me a sympathetic look and met my eyes again. "Yeah." He said and turned the other way, retreating to his un-emotional void.

We sat in a tight silence until Naruto came tumbling down the stairs. When Sasuke saw him he stood up and Naruto halted. They both shared the same passionate glare.

"Do you wanna tell Sakura something?" Sasuke asked.

"He's already apologized, don't fret," I said.

"Well it was probably some shit apology and you're not taking it. You're also not going to that race." He continued. His mood shifted again and it was bothering me.

"Naruto was sorry. He was also depressed from what happened so I promised to still go to the race and he promised to stay sober."

Sasuke broke away from his death glare with Naruto and attached it to my gaze instead. "You're not promising him shit." He then turned to Naruto. "Naruto, I swear if you make her go to that race I'll—,"

He was cut off by Naruto finally speaking, "You'll what? What Sasuke? She brought it up and offered before I said anything. I also told her she did not have to go. She wants to and frankly, I think she can make her own choices. What's up your ass?"

"She doesn't want to go to that race. She wants to make you happy. Get over yourself." He turned to me. "Sakura. You do not have to go and if you don't, Naruto, I assure you, will be fine." Sasuke spat.

"I'm going. If you want me to relax, try to tolerate each other, please. Yes, I'm going for Naruto, but for me too. I need to put my mind somewhere else." I said and let out air I'd been holding in.

Sasuke continued to sulk. Naruto relaxed his shoulders but mirrored the gesture.

"You're insane, Naruto," Sasuke said as he stormed up the stairs and left us with the sound of a door slamming.
