Chapter 4: Not yet over

The sudden appearance of portals startled Yuigahama's forces, different kinds of monstrosities came out of the portals, then outside their camp, thousands of dead bodies both from the monsters and humans started to move again because of the black rain, their camp is is built around the tower of the Overseer, the camp has four entrances, from the south, east, north, and west, after killing the black dragon, Yukinoshita and Hayama with a bunch of Zaimokuza's wizards came to the northern entrance to defend it.

Tobe's barbarians are stalling the monsters in the southern entrance, while Yuigahama's knights are defending the east and west side of the camp, Yumiko and her pegasus riders are supporting Yuigahama's knights in the west, while Kawasaki's witches helps Yuigahama's knights in the east.

In the middle of the camp, at the entrance of the tower stands the elite knights with Yuigahama in the middle, they are guarding the tower and killing the monsters that got past the other defenses.

"There's too much of them General Yuigahama! We need to deal with the portals and this black rain somehow!" the captain of the elite knights talked to Yuigahama.

"We can easily deal with the black rain, just don't die and don't let others die, based on my observations this black rain can't reanimate dead bodies twice so the real problem is the portals" "Ma'am can we really trust a group of bandits to bring this portal disruptors?" the captain asked again "Sagamin can be nasty sometimes but she knows she can't benefit from this world being overun by monsters".

In the air Kawasaki leading a squadron of witches, flying with their brooms in V formation, bombing the monsters from above with their magics, while Miura's pegasus riders are in a dog fight with gargoyles, dragonlings, and harpies.

At the ground Tobe's barbarians are ripping and tearing goblins and orcs but seems to be struggling with dullahans and other smarter monsters, Yuigahama's knights at the west and east are struggling to hold the line and only holding on with the air support from Miura's pegasus knights and Kawasaki's witches, at the other hand Hayama, Yukinoshita and Zaimokuza's wizards are doing well at the north, Hayama and the other wizards are protecting Yukinoshita while Yukinoshita casts large scale spells.

"Crystal Wall" Yukinoshita created a wall of crystal to seal the northern entrance then ordered everyone "Hayama go to the east side, you wizards go to the south and help defending there, I'll go to the west entrance!" Which recieved a nod of approval as an answer.

Before going to her designated area, Yukinoshita looked at the top of the tower You better be alive Hikigaya-kun, you still owe me a saving...

Even with the northern entrance sealed, they are still being overwhelmed, especially at the sky when adult dragons started appearing, since it's suicide to fight adult dragons at the sky Miura and Kawasaki's forces immediately landed giving the monster air superiority.

The Tobe's forces at the south are being showered with flames by the dragons, forcing them too move back to the middle of the camp "The southern defenses has been breached!" they shouted as they retreat.

Another wave of adult dragons were about to come out of the portals but the portals suddenly closed before the dragons can enter this world.

Then one after another, the portals in the sky is being cleared, then coming from the south entrance is Sagami and her caravan of bandits! Slaughtering the monsters entering from the southern entrance of the camp she and her bandits made their way to the middle of the camp, earning cheers from the knights and a thumbs up from Yuigahama.

Sagami riding a horse has a violet orb in her right hand, she raised it and the orb started to glow causing another random portal to be closed, the other bandits did the same with their orbs, closing a dozen of portals.

The humans has retaken the southern entrance of the camp.

Yukinoshita ordered the forces in the west of the camp to help the other side of the camp then sealed the western entrance with her crystal wall.

The black rain started to disperse meaning their enemies won't have a second life anymore, this boosted the morale of the humans while making the monsters to step back.

At the east side of the camp Hayama saw a pegasus without a rider, he ran into it and rode it, he started flying and hunting down the remaining dragons.

While there are still portals appearing it is immediately closed by Sagami's forces. The tables had turned and the humans have the upper hand now.

At the tower-

Hikigaya's right arm is still stucked in the Overseer's chest and still struggling to take out the old man's soul from its body. Then Overseer suddenly stopped struggling against Hikigaya's attempts to take out his soul, the Overseer looked Hikigaya into the eye then smiled, Hikigaya is shocked by this.

The old Overseer became older and older the more Hikigaya pulls out his soul and before losing his soul, the Overseer spoke to Hikigaya and said "Y-You're t-turn starts n-now kid" Hikigaya successfully grasped the Overseer's soul and pulled it out of the Overseer's chest.

Hikigaya looked at his right arm, it's color returned from being jet black to its normal color, then his eyes looked at the soul in its hand, he is expecting to see a jet black soul but what he saw was gray, a gray flame slowly dancing in his palm.

"Usually it's either black or white, but his soul is gray" he looked at the soulless corpse of the Overseer and saw a satisfied smile on it face "Are you really evil or what?".

Suddenly a red rune appeared at the Overseer's forehead, Hikigaya jumped back out of fear and readied its left hand with the black gauntlet. The corpse started floating slowly towards Hikigaya, then after reaching Hikigaya, the corpse talked and said "You're scared aren't ya? Hohoho this is a message I recorded into a magic rune and ingraved into my self that is supposed to activate when I'm dead" The jolly voice coming from the recording is different to the menacing voice of the Overseer Hikigaya fought, and somehow the happier tone of the Overseer's voice put Hikigaya at ease.

"If you're hearing this recording that means you're strong... Strong enough to bear the weight I am carrying right now" Hikigaya got confused by this, he wanted to ask some questions but remember he was listening to a recording, the corpse continued its talking "As you already know the title Overseer is only given to the most powerful mages capable of overseeing the survival of humanity, my father, the previous Overseer sought to end the eternal war of humans and monsters by creating portals and banishing the monsters to other unknown worlds".

"That was humanity's greatest victory" Hikigaya interjected, "Many of you might have thought of it to be our greatest victory that brought peace in our realm, but no that's actually the opposite" Hikigaya got intrigued more "My father actually shortened the life span of this world and lowered the chances of humanity's survival to none, without the other races and as long as the white temple stands we cannot win against THEM" Hikigaya is baffled and thought Who's them? If the Overseer is not really fighting the humanity... Then what is he fighting? "I don't have much time... Go to the 3rd floor of castle library, then go to the portal section into the oldest shelve, then push in all the books that starts with the letter K from the left to the right but instead of pushing, pull the last one, do this to the books that starts with the letters R, Y, F, I, P, O, R, T, and A" That not that hard Hikigaya thought.

"After doing that a hidden door shall open, enter that and -magical beams!- they found me! I gotta go!" The recording ended and the corpse of the Overseer stopped floating and dropped into the floor.

"Haaachhiman! I am here to help you by providing regeneration and mana potions my comrade!" Zaimokuza with a bag of potions and catching breath can be seen in the entrance of the roofless top floor.

Zaimokuza saw the lifeless corpse of the Overseer, he smiled with joy then looked around the sky, the portals are disappearing! "You did it comrade!" Zaimokuza yelled while running into Hikigaya, Zaimokuza tried to hug Hikigaya but Hikigaya just side stepped and evaded him, causing Zaimokuza's face to meet the floor.

While his face still in to the floor, Zaimokuza talked "We're done here right? We can finally go home to Dhazus right?" "Yeah... We're done here" I don't really know if this fight is really over Zaimokuza.

"Let's get outta here Zaimokuza".
