Chapter II: The Origin of the Power Coins

"For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline."

Having witnessed everything that had happened on Earth, an enraged Rita Repulsa screamed in anger and frustration at not only Zordon having come back, but the Power Rangers having defeated Tommy as well.
"NO!" she yelled. "I can't believe those pinheads beat us!"
"I will avenge you, My Queen," assured Goldar. "I promise you Zordon and his Power Rangers will be made to pay!"
Back in the Command Center, the 5 teenagers spoke to Zordon, the Dragonzord Power Coin in their possession.
"We missed you, Zordon," said Jason.
"The morale around here was pretty low without you," added Zack.
"The fact remains, that even as you faced your greatest danger," boomed Zordon, "with the odds stacked against you, you carried on like true superheroes and persevered."
"We really owe a lot to Alpha." Trini admitted, as she kindly put her hands kindly on Alpha 5's shoulder.
Alpha bowed his head bashfully, "Aww."
"Alpha," Zordon continued, "you displayed exemplary leadership capabilities in my absence. I am very proud of you!"
True to his word, the Rangers Commanding Officer bowed his floating head.
The robot, however, was too flustered to speak, "Oh, well… umm… I, uhh… aww shucks." Unable to get a hold of himself, Alpha walked away.
Zordon turned to the teenagers, "And now, Rangers, I wish to speak to all you. I notice that there is something else on your mind. Am I right, Rangers?"
Kimberly handed the DragonZord Power Coin to Jason, who walked up to the CO.
"Zordon," he said, "as you know we face another Ranger, or rather, Tommy. How is it all this time we didn't know about a sixth Power Coin's existence?"
"That's because I was under the impression that the DragonZord Power Coin was lost for ages," came the answer.
"What do you mean?" quizzed Zack.
* PAGE BREAK *
Zordon continued his story, as he did so, flashbacks played out.
"Long before I came to Earth, I originally hailed from the planet known as Eltar. And as you can imagine, had many warriors like yourselves who did battle with Rita and other forces of darkness." The Rangers nodded to indicate that they were listening. "Originally, there were five Power Coins. Eventually, it was prophesized that a sixth hero would join the team, so a sixth one was created."
"The DragonZord?" asked Kimberly.
"Yes," replied Zordon. "The last person to wield the DragonZord Power Coin was a prince of my world. However, much like your new friend Tommy, he was brash, arrogant and reckless, but he had a good heart."
"What happened to him?" wondered Billy.
"He faced Rita and her minions alone, hoping he could rid Eltar of all the evil that had plagued the planet. He was wrong." Zordon paused for a bit and regained his thoughts. "His friends recovered the wounded prince, and the Power Coin was lost, nor heard about or seen from in years."
"Until recently, as of all this week," concluded Trini.
"Yes," replied Zordon, as he finished his tale. "I can only imagine when Rita retrieved it for herself, she applied dark magic of the worst kind to it. Hoping one day that she could find an heir to help her continue her siege in conquering not only Earth, but every other galaxy as well."
The Rangers looked at each other in shock and dismay.
"Is there anything we can do to help Tommy?" asked Jason.
"At the moment, no, Jason," came the reply. "Tommy knows deep down everything he did was not his fault. When the time comes, he will join the team."
With that said, the Rangers left the DragonZord Power Coin to both Zordon and Alpha 5, hoping that Tommy would indeed one day.
Author's notes:
* So, that was my second chapter of this story, please let me know what you think of it so far, as you can bet that there will be more to come.
* For Zordon's backstory, I was not only inspired his actual backstory, but also the backstory of how the original Green Ranger, or Burai from Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger, came to be.
* As always, I own nothing in this fanfiction, except the words I write. As such: The Power Rangers, all rights and everything else are owned and © by Saban and the TOEI Company.
Until the next chapter, my fellow readers and Rangers:
