Into The Sunset

Chapter 12

It is easy to forget how full the world is of people, full to bursting, and each of them imaginable and consistently misimagined."

Sometime Later

Brooke put up a sign. Putting on display her fall. Half off sale.

"I've brought coffee cake muffins and coffee. A much needed pick me up. Is Alaska still coming over for a playdate with Larry after school.?" Peyton asked.

Brooke smiled up at her best friend.

"I'll take the muffin. But you can hold the coffee. He's not only looking over to it. He's probably going to insist to sleepover. If you and Jake don't want that just let me know." Brooke replied.

"You and Lucas are family. Alaska's welcome to spend the night anytime. I know the same goes for Larry with the both of you."

"All of a sudden you don't want coffee. It's strong. Black. Two sugars. Between work and the boys. And of course being married to Lucas. You need caffeine. What's going on B Davis.?" Peyton asked.

Brooke winced at the aroma of the strong smelling coffee.

"I'm hungry. I just could use ginger tea instead."

"I'm pregnant." Brooke announced.

A smile beamed across Peyton's face.

As she engulfed Brooke into a hug.

"I'm so happy and excited for you and Lucas."

"We are giving you a baby shower. If there was ever a time to celebrate as friends and family this it it." Peyton proclaimed.

"It's a girl." Brooke added in.

"This is so perfect. I'm going to spoil her. And make sure she has the best taste in music." Peyton gushed.

Brooke decided to let herself be happy. Even if it was just for a few minutes.

...

"After all it's taken for you and Brooke to get to this point."

"Nate and I are here for support and to help with the boys whenever you need it. "I'm going to be aunt Haley again."

"I've got take her shopping. And we have to get a new wardrobe."

"I know all the best maternity stores."

"Nathan and the guys will insist on taking you out to celebrate." Haley rambled on.

Until she saw the look on Lucas's face.

"Brooke isn't going to want a celebration. She didn't even want anyone to know. Given what's stacked against us. This pregnancy was never supposed to happen."

"But it did and i don't want to hide it and act like this isn't the gift we've waited years for."

"We don't aren't on the same page at all about the pregnancy."

"But i can't let how she feels get in the way of my own feelings."

"So yes. I want to celebrate. And savor this moment. Regardless of how it ends." Lucas proclaimed.

...

The camera snapped pictures. Every so often. The picture taker was hidden away. Unseen by anyone else.

The woman got back into her car and looked through the photos.

Taylor James had been doing this for 5 years now.

Making the most out of the small glimpses she got of her son.
