Into The Sunset

Chapter 20

Author's Note : Thank you my readers.

We get an update on the Scott family.

Jack is in his junior year of high school now. Alaska is in first grade now. As for Brooke and Lucas the two have taken a step back from their jobs. To be as hands on as possible with Sage.

Sage has been on the breathing machine for these past few months. Being cared for by a team of doctors.

Today was the day that she would be taken off the machines. According to the doctors she's been on alot longer then normal.

At this point there was no more the doctors could do for her.

"I got you're nursery ready at home. Wait until you see it." Brooke said.

Sage's hospital room was covered in cards pictures. Ballons. Stuffed animals.

From her brothers. And various close friends.

Jack and Alaska were in the children's waiting room. Waiting for news on their sister.

"What's taking so long Jack.? Sage has been sleeping for months now. The doctors were supposed to make her better." Alaska asked.

Jack looked to his younger brother.

"The doctors have done everything they can to help Sage. Now we have to wait and see if Sage is ready to come home." Jack explained.

"Of course she's coming home. Where else would she go.?" Alaska stated matter of fact.

It was in these moments that Jack envied the innocent way his brother saw the world.

For him he grew up in harsh reality. But for Alaska and Sage.

He wanted them to keep their innocence and child like wonder. For as long as possible.

...

"We've been looking into all possible information for premature baby care at home."

"She's going to thrive. I just know it." Brooke said.

Lucas watched holding his breath as the doctors. Removed Sage from the breathing machines.

Brooke's grip on him was hard and deep.

Brooke felt her heart leap as she watched her daughter take her first few independant breaths.

The blond hair. Blue eyes. She looked exactly like her father.

"My girl is coming home. We're taking Sage home today!" Lucas exclaimed. Once he got into the waiting room and was in front of his sons.

"Momma's going to be right by you're side. You're my tough. Stubborn. Warrior."

"I know you've been fighting for months now. I'm sure you're tired."

"You save you're strength honey. Momma's got you."

"You have you're brothers. You're daddy. You're aunts and uncles."

"So much love and support." Brooke proclaimed.

Carefully settling in on the rocking chair in Sage's nursery.

Which was very pink and purple. Full of cards and pictures from her hospital room.

grandma Karen's sign hanging on the wall.

This is the place where everything's better and everythings safe.
