Life is for the living.

Death is for the dead.

"Mom and dad. Wait for us in the car. The two of us will join you." Alaska announced.

"We all need to show up today. For Jack." Alaska added in.

Brooke and Lucas looked to each other then back at their son.

Once Alaska left the hallway. And entered Sage's bedroom.

Brooke and Lucas made their way outside.

Alaska took a breath and looked to his sister.

"I didn't want to get out of bed today either. I wanted to sleep and wake up. Thinking if i did. Jack would come back." Alaska admitted.

"You can stay with me. We can pretend to be camping." Sage suggested.

"Jack's gone Sage. Us staying here. Shutting out the world won't change anything." Alaska added in.

"But he said he was going to get better. That he was going to come home. He left us. And i hate him." Sage admitted.

"No you don't. Jack wouldn't of left us if he had the choice."

"He was hurt badly and the doctors couldn't even give us answers as to if he would get better."

"Jack loved us and protected us. But now we have be there for each other in the same way. That's the only Jack will have peace and be able to rest." Alaska explained.

"Will you stick by my side like two popsicles frozen together.?" Sage asked.

"You got it. Now let's get you dressed okay." Alaska insisted.

...

All of the Scott family made their way to the private service.

Everyone who knew Jack was there.

Haley sang.

Brooke spoke. Lucas spoke. And lastly Alaska.

None of them making it through their speech without tears. But they got through it.

The burial took place in the town cemetary. And the reception took place back at the Scott home.

Etrees. Dessert. So much food. There were so many stories being told. It was comforting and for awhile took away some of the sadness.

Yet hours later. When the house was without family and friends.

The food had been put away.

Alaska and Sage had been tucked in and put to bed.

All that remained was Brooke and Lucas.

Their grief. The distance and disconnection in their marriage.

Screaming. Becoming alot more visible.

"I'm going to go sleep in the guest room." Brooke announced.

"No Brooke. Stay. I need you." Lucas admitted.

Brooke looked to him. "I need you too."

"I miss you more then you know." She admitted.

"What is there to miss i'm here. I haven't gone anywhere." Lucas replied.

"If that's true. Why do i feel as if i'm sleeping next to a stranger.?" Brooke questioned. Before leaving their bedroom.
