Into The Sunset
Chapter 39
Author's Note : Clarity is neeeded regarding the Alaska/Taylor situation. Brucas officially adopted Alaska when he was 2. Alaska having access to his bio mom is simply laying the groundwork for a possible relationship. Which may or may not develop. It's meamt to mirror Ellie/peyton in season 3 without the death.
I still love you
I close my eyes and see you're face.
With every inch of my heart.
Brooke glared at Lucas. "What do you want me to say.? What's left to do.?"
"You're feelings haven't changed in 5 years. I highly doubt they are ever going too."
"I'm tired of feeling alone and disconnected in my marriage!"
"You weren't just my husband you were my best friend in the world."
"You know how guarded i am. How difficult it is for me to be vulnerable. And i thought i finally found a safe place to land and just be when we got married."
"But clearly that was a mistake. You love me when i act the way you want and go along with what you say."
"I've spent my whole life running from conditional love like that.!" Brooke exclaimed.
"You're still running Brooke. I love you. I need you. I don't want to end our marriage. I hate this." Lucas replied.
"We can go to counseling. Therapy. Whatever you want." Lucas pleaded. The emotion in his voice thick.
Brooke sighed deeply. "We should go to counseling. We haven't been in a good stable happy place for awhile now."
"I need to do what you're unable too. Admit that our marriage is broken and in order for us to ever get back to where we were or gain something better."
"Something has to change. I'm taking myself out of it."
"We've always managed to be friends. Let's keep that for the sake of our children and ourselves." Brooke proclaimed.
Turning from him as she left the home.
...
Lucas felt his heart being ripped in half. Yet he knew even if he didn't have the courage to admit it.
That Brooke was right. They needed time and space apart.
She would be living close by so dropping off the kids would be easy.
What was left for Lucas to do was explain to his kids. When they got home from school. Where their mother was.
...
Sometime Later
"Where's momma.?" Sage asked. Looking to her father. Once the three of them entered the home.
After being picked up from school.
"We're having pizza tonight. Let me know what toppings you want and should we get cookies or brownies for dessert.?" Lucas questioned. Looking to his children.
"Whatever. I have homework to do." Alaska announced before heading upstairs.
"Hello. Am i invisible! Where's momma.?" Sage asked. Stomping on feet.
"Lucas took a breath. "You're mom and I have grown up problems that we're trying to figure out."
"In order for that to happen. You're mom decided it was best if she went to live at her old house." Lucas explained.
Sage's smile quickly turning to a frown.
"Did i do something wrong.? Momma wouldn't just go away without telling us." Sage questioned. Tears welling up in her eyes.
"Of course not. You and Alaska are the main reasons we're doing all we can to become the greatest parents possible." Lucas explained.
...
The news of Brooke and Lucas's trial separation spread throughout the friend group.
