Into The Sunset
Chapter 40
It's been weeks. I am trying to make it seem like i'm doing alot better then i am. This bed is nothing but cold sheets and empty space without you.
Our home is missing the light. Warmth. And color.
I miss my wife.
Lucas stopped writing his latest letter to Brooke. Outside of the kids.
Their communication wasn't happening. They had their first counseling session scheduled for the end of the week.
Lucas looked forward to it. Was counting down the days.
Because the silence between them was hard to take.
...
"I don't like this. And honestly. I think the two of you are making a huge mistake." Haley announced.
As the women were seated beside each other at one of their weekly lunch spots.
"I agree. And normally i try to stay out of other people's relationships. You and Lucas have gone through too much and have been together for too long."
"To let this be how it ends." Peyton proclaimed.
"Lucas and I have gone through obstacle after obstacle. And at some point. We stopped seeing each other and hearing each other." Brooke replied.
...
"I feel alot of sympathy for what you and Brooke are going through."
"But that shouldn't be an issue for me and the relationship i'm trying to build with my son." Taylor stated matter of fact.
Lucas closed his office door. Sighing deeply at the sight of Taylor.
"Why does Alaska want nothing to do with me.?"
"What did you and Brooke say to him.?" Taylor asked.
"Nothing Brooke and I have more then enough to deal with."
"If Alaska doesn't want to see talk to you. It's his choice." Lucas replied.
..
What Brooke and Lucas racing towards Tree Hill Elementary School.
Their children. A call from the school nurse claiming both kids are sick and are asking to come home.
...
Once the Brucas kids were settled into their separate rooms. Tucked into bed. Changed into PJ's and given whatever they wanted to eat.
Sage and Alaska used their minutes of quiet to meet up.
"Our plan worked." Sage cheered.
"We have to keep this going for a few days. We have to remind them how much better it is when we're all together as a family." Alaska added in.
