Scrooge McDuck had messed up. He'd gotten into a fight with his family and they had left, hating him. In hindsight, given it was over Della's disappearance, he felt he deserved it. Besides, there was no way it could get wor-
Goldie knocks on the door hard. "Scrooge, open up or I break the door down!" She threatens.
Scrooge sighs, having forgotten that one detail. Knowing Goldie is too persistent to ignore, he heads to the front door and opens it after dragging his feet.
"Finally! Now tell what is going o-oohhh what the hell?" She asks, not expecting what she sees.
Scrooge looked... absolutely awful. Only wearing his glasses and a dirty old sleeveless shirt, reeking of sorrow... among other things. "Wot is it Goldie?"
"I got a text from my daughter saying something bad had happened and that I probably needed to see you. Now that I see why she said that and the extent of things, what the hell happened?"
"Nothing ae donnae deserve." Scrooge turns and heads back into the manor. "Watch yer step, by the way."
Goldie enters and the entire manor is a mess with pizza boxes strewn about. It also reeked, and she could see several pests. She instantly knows neither Beakley nor Duckworth had been there in a few days as they would NEVER let one box be left about, let alone hundreds. "Scrooge, what, happened? What did you do?" Goldie asks with a slight panic, as this is not the Scrooge McDuck she knows and loves.
"Ae told yew, nothing ae donnae deser-" Before he finishes, Goldie grabs Scrooge by the collar and slaps him.
"What did you do?!"
"Ae drove away our little girl! She hates me now okay?!" Scrooge snaps, tears pricking his eyes.
"Why? Why do you think she hates you?"
"...The kids found out."
Goldie goes pale upon hearing that, letting him go. "Found out what?"
"The Spear of Selene. They know..."
"Oh." Goldie is slightly relieved it wasn't the other secret, but understands. "So what? You made a mistake. They can't stay mad at you for admitting your mistake and apologizing."
"Ae, kinda, didn't. Ae actually just told them what happened and, yelled at them and called them ungrateful after they blamed me..."
Goldie facepalms. "Scrooge McDuck you are possibly the most stupid man in existence! Why would you do that?!"
"Ae was cornered! They wouldn't let me get it in!"
"Then blurt it out! Beg for forgiveness! Or is your pride too strong to allow that?"
"It doesnae matter. Ae lost everyone like the fool ae am. So, just leave me ta wallow... And, take care of Webby after ae die in my squalor in a few days."
Goldie groans. Scrooge was just as stubborn as when they first met. He didn't want to be helped after 3 days of misery. Typical Scrooge. At least she knew he wasn't cursed. With that, she leaves, hoping he will come to his senses later. As she exits the gate, she passes 'Lena'. "Hey, you're Webby's friend. Lena, right?"
"Yeah, but I'm here to see Scrooge." 'Lena' says.
"Just be warned, you won't like it in there." Goldie leaves without another word, 'Lena' shrugging the warning off.
When Scrooge got trapped by Magica, he was partly relieved he'd driven his family away. Both so they would be safe, and so they couldn't save him. However, he was still furious at Lena for obvious reasons. "Yew used my daughter to help that witch. Yew never cared about her. Yew wanted to hurt her!"
"I did not!" Lena asserts, before backing down. "Okay, maybe my initial intentions were selfish and bad, but I never wanted to hurt Webby! The point was to get my own freedom. But, in time... I realized it isn't worth it if it means hurting Webby. I tried to tell you in the Other Bin, but Magica took control, possessed me." Lena sighs. "I'm sorry, I never meant for this to happen, but you are part of the reason Magica is free!"
"Wot?! Yew dare-"
"You pushed away your family. You own daughter, your niece you treated like a daughter!" Lena reminds, as Scrooge turns away. "You had so much good going for you and you threw it away! And for what? You couldn't stand a horrible mistake you made?"
"Ae was put on the spot! Ae was trying to explain myself! They blamed me and rightfully so, but they thought ae didn't care! Do yew know what ae went through? Nine years of searching, draining me bin, only ta be dragged away by those vultures! I killed those fours' mother! Me! Ae wanted to tell them that, to tell them how sorry ae was, but they wouldn't let me!"
"Them, or your stubbornness?"
"Both ae suppose! Scrooge McDuck... doesn't, back, down..." Scrooge realizes he is entirely to blame because, by being defensive, he doomed himself.
"You'd have been safe with your family by your side, and now Magica is going to take over the world! So you have two choices! Fix things and get your family back, or continue wallowing and let the world fall to Magica. I know what I'd choose, because I'd KILL to have your family."
Scrooge looks at Lena, sniffs, and nods. "Alright. Ae know wot has to be done."
Turns out, Magica had been eavesdropping on the entire conversation, and promptly returned Magica to her shadow, before sucking Scrooge into his dime. Not long after, everyone witnesses Magica exit the mansion from across Duckburg in her over the top fashion.
...
"Dad!" Webby cries out in horror, as the family watches Magica emerge.
...
Elsewhere, Goldie was walking at the edge of town, when she notices the shadow vortex. "What- oh no... Not her..." She realizes as her shadow separates from her. She then races back, knowing she REALLY needs to help, especially since her daughter is in trouble.
Oh, and to help Scrooge as well she supposes.
Eventually, Beakley, Fenton, Manny, Ian, and Lil' Bulb are fighting shadows on the bridge, Donald is fighting shadows in Scrooge's office, and the kids are fighting Magica in the bin.
After destroying Lena, Magica swiftly gets the upper hand and knocks Webby and Rebecca into the gold before Dewey can get the dime, standing over them. "Now, what to do with you? Destroy you in front of your father's eyes? Or make you my personal slave?" She asks, tauntingly.
"How about neither?!" Goldie says as she jump kicks Magica right in the gut.
"Oof!" Magica is sent into a pile of coins.
"Mom!" Webby calls out, surprised.
"Stay back sweetie! Let the adults handle this." Goldie says.
"So, you are McDuck's beloved?" Magica asks Goldie as she gets up.
"Ex actually... well, in theory. I am the mother of his daughter as you can see."
"Splendid! I'll destroy you as well..." Magica starts blasting at Goldie, who knocks the end of the staff away in time. As she fights alongside her daughter and niece, she gives an opening for Dewey to grab the dime and take cover.
"Mom, where were you?!"
"Trying to talk sense into your father, which failed as I can see." She says as she helps the girls fight.
"But now that you are here, she doesn't stand a chance!" Rebecca says, kick flipping off Magica's back.
"Enough!" Magica shouts irate as she blasts the three back and tries to blast Dewey. This only results in her hitting the dime and freeing Scrooge, who briefly one-on-ones Magica before getting side-by-side with Goldie.
"Goldie, yew came back!" Scrooge says, happy to see her
"Someone has to protect our daughter when you screw up." Goldie rolls her eyes.
"Aye, ae made a mistake. But we can discuss it later! Now, we need ta show thus witch what happens when they threaten our girls." Scrooge smirks.
"Agreed."
Magica tries to blast them, but they dodge.
"A waltz?" Scrooge asks Goldie.
"As usual..." Goldie grins in response as she takes his hand and kicks a golden sword into her free hand, and starts to fight Magica with him.
Scrooge and Goldie do their fight-dance similar to when at the Golden Lagoon, but this time working together against Magica. They block and deflect her shots, and push her staff out of the way, taunting her.
"Hold still! Let me destroy you!" Magica demands, continuing to try to blast them as the kids watch, amused.
As expected, Scrooge and Goldie are able to disarm Magica, her staff gem cracking and causing her to lose her powers. As such, she flees in defeat, Scrooge and Goldie not against beating up the person who threatened their daughter. After a celebratory swim in the money bin, everyone returns to the damaged and messy manor, Ian distraught at the state of things.
After talking to Rebecca and mending things, Scrooge decides to talk to Webby, who had taken to her room, which was rather untouched. "Lass? Yew in her?"
"Up here dad." Webby calls from her loft.
Scrooge climbs up and finds her sitting on her bed, looking at her friendship bracelet. "Rebecca and the boys told me about Lena."
"Yeah." Webby says.
"Ae'm sorry, lass. Ae really am. If ae'd been more attentive, maybe ae could have saved her."
"It's okay. A lot has happened and we didn't catch on before. Guess that is one of the downsides of being daughter to the richest duck in the world huh? Makes you a path for his enemies."
"Aye..." Scrooge pauses. "Lass, if yew still hate me, ae donnae blame yew."
"Hate you? Dad I don't hate you!" Webby says aghast, to Scrooge's shock.
"But, ae hid information on Della from yew, Rebecca, and the boys. The fight on the Sunchaser. What ae said to Beakley."
"I was mad about all that, yeah, but never hated you. I could never hate you! Everything you said still still hurt, but we understand why you hid it. It hurt for you too."
Scrooge nods. "Ae never should have hid it. Ae made a total... rear of myself. Can yew forgive me?"
"Of course!" Webby hugs Scrooge tight. "I'll always be able to forgive you. Just, don't let a mess like this happen again, okay?"
"Alright, no more secrets. Anything yew wanna know, ae'll tell yew."
"Okay! How was I born?"
Scrooge goes wide-eyed as he realizes. "Er, uh, well um, yew see..."
Then, right on time to save him, Goldie pops her head up. "Hey sweetie."
"Hey mom! Dad and I were just talking." Webby says.
"Oh? About what?"
"Well, dad was just about to tell me how I was born!"
At this, Goldie raises an eyebrow and looks at Scrooge, who mouths 'help me'. "Well, we would, but you aren't old enough. We'll tell you ALL about where babies, including you, come from when you turn 13. Okay?"
"Aww, okay." Webby says, a bit disappointed.
"Good. Now, can I borrow your father for a minute?"
"Okay!"
Scrooge gets up and heads out of Webby's room with Goldie, for privacy. "Goldie? What do yew-"
SMACK
Goldie slaps Scrooge again, this time hard enough to knock off his glasses.
"Ow! Why-" He is cut off by Goldie grabbing his coat and lifting him up, bringing them face-to-face.
"Don't. You. EVER! Let yourself be exposed like that again. You put our daughter at risk because of it! Because it it does, you are going to WISH some villain had killed you. Understand?!" She demands, a look scarier than one Beakley can give.
"Y-yes dear..." Scrooge says, trembling.
"Good." She puts him down. "Now, let's go somewhere VERY private for our, usual..." She smirks.
"Yes, dear." Scrooge grins as he is pulled to his room by his partner for their usual 'after adventure fun'.
