Shinobi hearts chapter 1: The light within.

"Let your heart be your guiding key…", were the words a certain orange-clad blonde heard in the midst of a dark room. Looking around he didn't see anything besides the darkness that entranced him. However, when he squinted his eyes, he saw a form of light in the distance. And As he approached it, the object of light was slowly revealing itself to the boy. It was a..

"A key…?"

There stood in the midst of the pit of darkness was a giant key right before the boy's eyes. He eyed the object suspiciously not knowing what to make of the situation. "Do not be afraid young Naruto, for that key before you is a manifestation of your heart and the light it shines against darkness". Naruto didn't know where that voice came from, but he decided not to question it, as he slowly reached for the object…. "I see good things in your future, chosen master of the keyblade," the voice said again.

"The keyblade…?" Naruto said as the light from the 'keyblade' blazed brightly, overtaking the young blonde.

"Gahhh" he screamed.

"NARUTO!"

"Huh, where am I?" Naruto asked in a daze. Getting up he observed his surroundings, eyes widening he realized he was in a forest-

"Naruto what the hell are you doing? Especially stealing the scroll nonetheless!"said a man with brown hair, tied in a pony-tailed. Who adorned that of the standard Konoha chunin flack jacket and blue undershirt.

Naruto blinked confused at first, before grinning at the sight of the man as he shot up with open arms. "Iruka Sensei, I have this awesome new Jutsu I learned that will totally blow you away and let me pass the graduation for sure!"

Sighing, the man known as Iruka Umino looked at his student with a frown. Naruto was always a walking enigma that he failed to understand: from his pranks in the village, his carefree attitude, his rude manners and the strange clothes he worn….

Unlike his early days in the academy, which consisted of his classic orange and blue jumpsuit with blue sandals to match; Naruto began wearing an open orange blazer-like jacket that revealed a sleeveless black turtle-neck, with two brown belts going across it forming an x in the center. Alongside this was a pair of saggy orange pants that went a little past his knees and were adorned with two black strappings on each pant leg, with the one on the right holding a black holster. Holding this at his waist was another brown belt. However, that wasn't all as instead of the traditional shinobi sandals, Naruto rocked a set of shoes that were almost as comical as the pranks he pulled: on his feet were a pair of huge orange and black boots, tho primarily orange with the bottom base being black. The boots were laced with a zipper in the middle of it that was held together by a huge gray slider, that hung on the tongue of the boots. As well as 2 sets of black strappings that overlapped the high part of the shoe, forming an X on it. Finishing this off was the white soles beneath it. All in all, Naruto looked unique to say the least…

'Not to mention' Iruka mused 'his strange new sleeping habits…' as he had noticed that even on his way here, the blonde wannabe Hokage was sprawled on the floor in a dream. Shaking his head with a sigh he asked

"Naruto who told you that? and this better not be another one of your pranks."

Seemingly unaffected by his teacher's accusations Naruto's grin grew bigger, "Mizuki sensei did!". Which shocked Iruka.

"wha-"

"Yeah! He told me where to find this scroll and this place!" Naruto finished beaming from ear to ear, but his smile dissipated as he noticed the shocked expression on his favorite teacher's face.

"Iruka sensei-" Naruto asked about to question his teacher but was pushed back by said man with a shout of "Get down!" As a set of kunai made their way toward them.

SLASH

Naruto's eyes widen in shock as he saw the man he looked up to as a big brother impaled with a set of kunai. But his eyes were in further disbelief when he looked up to the source behind it.

Standing on a tree branch was a silver-haired chunin with two giant shuriken strapped to his back, a smirk ever so present on his face as he glanced down at the two below him.

"I see you found our little hideaway, Iruka" he said tauntingly.

"So that's the way it is huh, Mizuki." Iruka said glaring at the man he once considered his comrade- no best friend. Grimacing in the pain with a yelp, as he began removing the kunai from his body.

With the still wicked grin on his face, Mizuki turned towards Naruto noticing his confused expression. "Naruto! Give me the scroll now!" he bellowed trying to take advantage of the situation.

"Wait a minute!" Naruto exclaimed looking between both teachers with a stupefied expression, "what's going o-n here?"

Grimacing in between pants, after the removal of the kunai, Iruka turned towards Naruto, "Naruto don't let Mizuki get that scroll! It contains forbidden jutsu that can put this village in grave danger! Mizuki used you to get the scroll for himself!" Causing the blonde to look back towards the former leaf shinobi with a glare.

"Naruto, don't listen to him. Iruka is trying to scare you because he doesn't want you to have the scroll". Mizuki said with a grin noticing how the blonde began questioning his sensei's words.

"Stop lying Mizuki" Iruka barked, "Don't let him trick you Naruto!"

"Lying huh? I'll tell you who's really lying" Mizuki chuckled

"No Mizuki!"

"They've been lying to you, your whole life, Naruto," Mizuki continued ignoring Iruka, "Since the decree twelve years ago".

"What-decree?" Naruto asked.

"Everyone knows except you. Iruka is trying to hide it from you even now, he'd do anything to shut me up."

"What is this decree?!" Naruto asked again growing agitated, "Why does everyone else know about it?"

"Don't tell him, its forbidden!"

"The decree is… NO ONE CAN TELL YOU THAT THE NINE-TAILED FOX SPIRIT IS SEALED INSIDE YOU!" Mizuki shouted with an evil grin as Naruto's eyes widen in shock.

"THE FOX SPIRIT THAT KILLED IRUKA'S PARENTS AND DESTROYED OUR VILLAGE HAS TAKEN OVER YOUR BODY! YOU ARE THE NINETAILED FOX!"

"STOP IT" Iruka roared.

Naruto just stood there in complete shock as he slowly pieced together everything… the glares he received all his life from civilians, the whispers of 'demon' and the forced separation from most of the kids his age… save for a select few. 'it all makes sense now, they hate me because I'm the ninetails…'.

' fear not chosen keybearer… as The closer you get to the light, the greater your shadow becomes..' a voice said in Naruto's head making the blonde's eyes widen.

Smiling at the now distracted Naruto, Mizuki unsheathed one of his shurikens and with a dark chuckle, "Don't worry Naruto, as after I eliminate you and your precious sensei, I'll take that scroll off your hands to destroy that very village that tormented you".

"Now die!" he shouted throwing the shuriken at Naruto.

Fearing for his student's safety, Iruka yelled at Naruto to get down as he began running towards the blonde in hopes of intercepting the shuriken but-

*CLANG*

Stopping the Shuriken, from cutting Naruto's head clean off was that of a weapon in his hand But this was no ordinary weapon…

' Now young bearer of the keyblade show your light!'

Within Naruto's right hand stopping the blow of the giant shuriken was that of an equally giant golden key approximately 3.5' long, with a long silver Keychain extending from the hilt, and the leaf symbol token on the end of the Keychain. The blade and teeth of the Keyblade were silver, the rainguard is blue, and the guard is bright gold. The teeth of the Keyblade formed the outline of a fusion between the leaf symbol and a shuriken.

Effortlessly deflecting the shuriken, Naruto stared at Mizuki with a faint glare, as said chunin staggered back a bit.

"Mizuki, you're gonna pay for telling me that, and for hurting Iruka-sensei!" he growled pointing the 'key' at Mizuki.

'No way…. that can't be…' Mizuki thought

'The keyblade…' Iruka finished in thought.

"The keyblade…the weapon that is a reflection of one's heart, whether of light or darkness. And can be used to save worlds or be its very destruction" the third Hokage said in his office while looking over the events that were unfolding on his crystal ball.

Eyeing his surrogate grand-son ,who was currently glaring at Mizuki keyblade still in hand, he couldn't help but curse under his breathe for Naruto learning about the ninetails this way. But he also couldn't fathom how or why Naruto of all people was the person being granted the power of such a powerful and out of worldly weapon.

Shaking his head of those thoughts he opted to puzzle on that later. As he got back to watching his crystal ball, intent to see how things unfolded. "Mizuki you have a big mouth, you awakened the wrath of a keyblade wielder and now you're going to suffer the consequences"

"you… you" Mizuki began looking at Naruto, "You brat!"

"How did an idiot like you manage to summon the legendary keyblade!" he demanded, making Naruto raise an eyebrow, 'that's exactly what the voice in my dream called it!'

Jumping down from the tree, Mizuki unsheathed his second shuriken as he glared intently at Naruto who glared back, "I don't know how you did it Ninetails. But the very fact you have the keyblade shows just how much of a danger you are to this world."

"Which is why I'm going to execute you personally." he finished, taking a stance.

Naruto twirled the key blade in his hand as if he had practiced with it for years, before getting in a low crouching stance that put his right leg forward and left leg back. Whilre resting the keyblade in a position that points away from him towards his right.

Iruka gulped knowing full and well, that Naruto intended to fight Mizuki. But before he could protest,

"Iruka sensei" Naruto began glancing toward the injured chunin, "I know you don't want me to fight Mizuki-teme but you're in no condition to fight. And I have to pay this bastard back for what he said about destroying the village and for hurting you, ya know!"

"But-"

"No buts, Sensei, I'm the Ninetails right? I should be just fine against this guy."

Iruka frowned at that, making a mental note to teach the boy the difference between the kunai and the scroll.

"As much as I hate to ruin this touching moment, I have a scroll to claim" Mizuki said with a chuckle, "and a fox to slay!" he bellowed as he swung his shuriken towards Naruto.

Noticing the incoming shuriken, Naruto stood there expectingly in the same stance. Shocking both chunins, by his lack of effort to evade. However, when the shuriken neared Naruto, the boy gripped the keyblade tightly before swinging it across his side toward the shuriken: batting it away like a baseball towards the surprised Mizuki.

"what the-" Mizuki asked in shock, only barely evading the reflected weapon, as it grazed his cheek drawing some blood. "Why that brat-", however Mizuki was caught off guard as right before him was Naruto as he swung his keyblade towards the former leaf ninja who was unsuccessful to dodge in time. Following this Naruto enacted a continuous series of assaults on the chunin's body with the keyblade. Each blow feeling more intense than the last. This keyblade was just as sharp as any sword if not more and Mizuki was experiencing this firsthand. Naruto finished the combo with a swing to the man's face, which sent him sprawling across the forest floor.

Wincing from the pain, Mizuki slowly picked himself up, 'so this is the power of the keyblade, huh? To think its giving some deadlast academy student enough power to stand up to me…' he thought.

"Give up Mizuki" Naruto stated

"what did you say to me brat?" Mizuki asked with a glare.

"Give up Mizuki, you can't win and you know it" Naruto stated once more, with a glare of his own.

'This brat who does he think he is?' Mizuki growled internally, 'but damn he's right I can't win as I am now…'

Naruto frowned as he observed Mizuki's expression go from irate to scared and worried, shaking his head he got back into his stance, 'whatever the teme has planned I'll kick his ass!"

'Master will kill me for revealing this too early but still…' he said glancing at Naruto, 'it's better than losing to this brat!'

"I have no choice!" Mizuki shouted, getting the teacher and student duo's attention, "I'll have to use the darkness within!" he finished as he began floating in the air, as a burst of dark black and blue auras enveloped him mid-air. Erupting in a dark flash of light that blinded the forest, as the auras spun out of control rapidly.

Shielding their eyes from, the dark power that Mizuki was emitting both Naruto and Iruka staggered back a little due to the wind that was emitted from the chaotic nature of the aura.

This went on for a few seconds before the wind died down, along with the auras dissipating. Standing in Mizuki's place was no longer that of a man… but a rather large black monster with yellow eyes.

"heartless…" Hiruzen said, hands swaying to keep the signal of the crystal ball fixated on the current events. Looking down with a sigh, "It appears Mizuki has gave into darkness…but the question is how did he come in contact with such power…"

"No way it couldn't be…"

"He-artle-ss" Iruka stuttered out in shock, Naruto looked at his sensei confused.

"Iruka sensei, what's that?" Naruto asked, eyes glued to what used to be of Mizuki.

"Look Naruto that isn't important right now, all that matters is we get as far away from here as possible!." Iruka shouted extending a hand towards the blonde. Only for it to be swatted away.

"Naurto..?"

"Iruka sensei I don't know what's going on but I can't leave. I can't leave when theres a threat infront of me that wishes to harm….the leaf and everyone." Naruto said hair shadowing his eyes, "and while it's true I don't have many friends… I'm still gonna stand here and fight for the few that I do because…" he trailed off looking at the monster, then back towards Iruka

"MY FRIENDS ARE (your)MY POWER" Naruto and a voice shouted as he summoned 1000 shadow clones, amazing Iruka in the process, as each clone was equipped with its own keyblade.

Iruka stared in amazement ""Incredible… He's mastered an extreme Jutsu." he said smiling proudly

Naruto glanced at his clones before, narrowing his eyes to the heartless-possessed Mizuki. "I don't care if you're some monster now, I'm ending this once and for all, a thousand fold!" he shouted as he and the shadow clones leapt in the air, keyblades all above their heads as they plunged towards the monster. The possessed Mizuki seemed to realize what the Narutos were doing and used an arm in an attempt to stop the attack. But it was unsuccessful as the sheer amounts of Narutos overwhelmed the being as they all struck it down and then-

BOOM

In a burst of the same black and blue auras, the heartless erupted in the plight of light, that surrounded the two as the shadow clones also expelled in a poof of smoke.

When everything, dissipated, it revealed a smiling Iruka who ruffled an equally smiling Naruto's hair.

"Hey Naruto, I want to give you something. Close your eyes." And with a nod Naruto did as he was told, waiting expectingly.

"Ok, you can open them now."

He open his eyes in confusion as he still found Iruka sensei wearing his forehead protector.

"And here I thought you'd let me pass Sensei-"

"Naruto look down."

Naruto did so, and his eyes widen in shock as he found a necklace with the Konoha symbol around his neck.

"Naruto" iruka began scratching his cheek, "I noticed that you'll never be like most ninja… so I thought why not have you honor our village as a ninja in a different way. I hope you like it."

"So you mean?-"

"Yup, congratulations Naruto you passed the graduation exam," Iruka said smiling proudly as the blonde hugged him.

"Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! Thanks Iruka-sensei! Thanks a lot!"

"Ow! Be careful! I'm still hurt you know!" Iruka exclaimed, though inwardly he was smiling. No matter how much he changed on the outside, on the inside he's still the same old idiot Naruto.

"Sorry sorry! Just a little bit excited!" Naruto chuckled. He looks up at the sky, keyblade summoning in hand again, as he pointed it in the air with a grin.

Sorry to reboot my story so early guys, but while writing chapter 2 as a continuation from the original chapter 1, I found myself seriously hating it. From the dialogue, to way the characters acted it all seemed to distasteful to my life, which is why I'm doing a soft-reboot to this already new story. Comment down in the reviews or pm if you wanna help or have any suggestion in requests in this story.

And for the reviewer that requested Roxas and Vanitas to be sealed in Naruto, I already said sora didn't exist in this story and Roxas cannot exist without Sora and the same applies to vanitas. Although there may be a spin on vanitas….
