Thank you to Buttery100, NarytoXitachi, jsymythiee and for following the story and/or favoriting; it means alot to me. :) Also Maggie'll get sorted in the next chapter or so... anybody willing to guess?
19th of August 1938, Frederick's Fabulous Familiars, Diagon Alley.
When Tom, Dumbledore and Maggie reached the final shop (their coin purses significantly lighter), both children were already giddy with excitement. They had found decent looking second-hand copies of their school books and had bought less quills, just so that they could afford a pet. All three had been to Tomes and Scrolls, Flourish and Blotts, Ollivander's Wandshop (Maggie was a bit jealous that Tom's wand was so much prettier than hers), Quality Quidditch Supplies (eventhough they hadn't bought anything), Gringotts, Madame Miranda's Robes for All Occasions (Diagon Alley, Paris, Hogsmeage and Milan as they liked to advetise) and Slug and Jigger's Apothecary (the urge to buy a unicorn horn just to look at it was overwhelming).
There was a wooden sign with the words 'Frederick's Fabulous Familiars' hanging lopsided above the door. Entering the small shop a smell of owl droppings (poo if you wanted to be crude) and animal hit Maggie's nostrils. Coughing she made her way to the counter and rang the little service bell.
"Anyone home?"
A slimy looking man appeared behind the counter. This must have been Frederick ot Mr. Frederick. "What can I get you? An owl? A cat? Toad? Rat? Gerbil? Lizard? Crup? We have everything!"
Dumbledore took control of the situation. "I believe Tom here would like an owl." He looked at Tom who nodded. "And Maggie would like a cat."
"Dumbledore. I was wondering when you'd show up with your Mudblood First Years."
Dumbledore's cold stare shut him up quickly.
"What's a Mudblood?" Maggie asked, looking up at Dumbledore with big eyes.
"I'll tell you later," Dumbledore said waving her off. "Do you have what we need?"
"Well, maybe the young lady d'like a Kneazle instead of a Cat."
"What's a Kneazle?"
"A magical Cat."
Maggie gasped. "Yes please!"
From behind the counter Mr. Frederick produced a rusty cage with a hissing black cat in it. "The cage has special enchantments that keep the Kneazle in," he explained "Otherwise it would use it's Kneazle magic to apparate out."
Ignoring everything that the shop keeper had said, Maggie opened the latch and coaxed the Kneazle out. "I'm gonna name you Merlin," She knew from her History Book that she had bought at Flourish and Blotts that Merlin had been a very powerful Wizard.
"Careful girl. Names hold power here in the Wizarding World. Not that you'd know anything about it." He muttered the last part.
It was, however, already to late. The newly christened 'Merlin' was already climbing up Maggie's clothes. He wound himself around her neck, like a fancy boa out of fur.
Now it was Tom's turn. He quickly found a sleek black raven to act as his messenger and pet. Tom didn't name him. "There's no point getting attached to it," he claimed.
Back in the Leaky Cauldron, Maggie, Dumbledore and Tom used Floo Powder to get to the abandoned fireplace in the orphanage. It was hidden behing a 'tapestry' (which was really just and old rug nailed to the wall because there was a hole in the wall). They arrived without being noticed and to Mrs. Cole's shock, and dissapointment, were half and hour early.

2nd of September 1938, somewhere in King's Cross Station.
Mrs. Cole had no idea how to get them to the King's Cross Train Station. She knew nobody that owned a car, and much less actually would drive two dirty orphans to a train station all the way in London. So Tom and Maggie resolved, the only way to get there was the dreaded Knight Bus. They had called it, just like Dumbledore did, with their wands (luckily Dumbledore had left those with them). After the terifingly turbulent trip they were there. Now they only had to find 'Platform 9 and 3/4'. They believed it existed, as crazy as it sounded, they just didn't know how to get there.
They weren't going to ask the stern man who stood next to the sign that read 'No, smoking, drinking or eating at the King's Cross Station.' He looked too stern.
There was a friendly looking family with to brown haired girls, one of which looked about their age. The owl was a tell-tale sign that they were wizards. Unless they were animal fanatics? Nevermind. Sticking her courage to the sticking place, Maggie walked up to them and asked. "Do you know how I could get to platform 9 and 3/4?"
"First Year at Hogwarts as well? This is my daughter Alice, she'll be in your year. You should be friends."
"Mum!" Alice groaned. "I'd don't need help finding friends!"
"Alright, alright."
Maggie surpressed a grin.
"You have to run through that wall dear." She pointed at a wall just as a silver haired boy confidently strode through, proving her point.
Behind her her husband scowled and muttered something that sounded like: "Always smug those Malfoys."
Swatting his arm Alice's mother handed her daughter her baggage. "Have a good school year! Write us lots!" With that she dragged her other daughter and husband out of the train station.
"Aren't parents allowed on the platform?"
"They just don't want to meet the Malfoys. Father has an argument with them right now. Usally they're all chummy chummy."
Maggie nodded in a way you would if you knew how the other person felt. Maggie didn't actually know how she felt because she didn't have any family but she continued nodding anyway.
"Tom!" she shouted drawing the boy's attention. "Meet Alice, she's in our year."
Tom walked over and hmpfed. "Have yoyu found out how to get to the platform? The train leaves in-" He looked at his wristwatch. "-five minutes."
Where did Tom get the wristwatch? Did he steal it? Maggie bit her tongue. "We have to run through that wall."
"Huh."
So they ran Alice, Maggie (who nearly screamed) and then Tom.
As soon as they were on the other side they heard a whistle blow. Quickly clambering on the train with there baggage, they managed to get on just before the train left. It was a beautiful scarlet with 'The Hogwarts Express' painted on the side in big, black letters. Pretending to wave at her parents, Maggie waved at the crowd of waving parents. But nobody had to know. She didn't want to be treated differently.
Tom and Maggie were on the train to Hogwarts. Now they just had to find a compartment. Which would become harder than they expected.
