Setting Prompt: Crossover
When Shinichi's parents invited him and his boyfriend, Kaito, over to California for a week, Shinichi knew he was going to get involved with a murder. What he didn't expect was just how insane the CBI was - or rather, one of its members.
"Your consultant kidnapped my boyfriend," Shinichi told Teresa Lisbon, the leader of the CBI team investigating the recent murder.
Lisbon groaned. "Again? Godammit Jane."
"He's done this before?" Shinichi groaned, feeling the sudden need to collapse onto the floor. Patrick Jane was one of the most tiring people in the world, and really, props to Lisbon for successfully dealing with him for this long.
Lisbon sighed. "Unfortunately, Jane has done this many times before, and before you ask, no I am not able to control him."
"Well, what's he need Kaito for?" Shinichi questioned the CBI agent.
"Kaito's a magician," Lisbon pointed out. "Probably for some magic trick. Jane's probably excited to have someone who actually knows stage magic help him out for his next trick."
"And Kaito's probably happy to help," Shinichi muttered gloomily, hoping that at least he had the common sense not to do anything that would reveal him as Kaitou Kid.
"It was the butler!" Jane's voice called, and Lisbon and Shinichi both lifted their heads up as the man of the hour returned, Kaito grinning happily behind him and leading the victim's butler along. "The butler did it!" Jane also had a big grin on his face. Shinichi didn't see the humor in it, but oh well.
"Shinichi, that was fun," Kaito whispered excitedly, as Lisbon waved Van Pelt over and told her to bring the suspect - or, well, culprit - to the interrogation room. "I want to do that again!"
Shinichi sighed. "I'm not hosting a magic show to catch a killer."
"Well, that's probably why Jane-san figured it out before you did," Kaito pointed out with a mischievous grin on his face.
Shinichi glared at him, and Kaito glanced around the room quickly before giving him a quick kiss. "Don't worry, you're still my favorite detective!"
Shinichi sighed, giving Jane a glance as Lisbon talked to him about informing her when he was going to steal the boyfriends of detectives in order to catch culprits. He barely knew the consultant, but he knew he was highly intelligent and very uncooperative when he wanted to be. However, Shinichi could see himself working together with Jane again in the future.
"Alright," Shinichi said. "Let's get back to my parents' place, I'm sure they're worrying by now."
Kaito nodded. "Great!"
