Monorail Platform
Zara (paced back and forth waiting for the monorail to arrive, already visitors where out in droves. Checking her watch of course, the monorail was running five minutes late. She should have retrieved her car and gone to pick them up, instead of waiting on the tram. Zara already felt tense and edgy but standing still and not being able to move around caused her more discomfort. Zara took a breath and counted backwards to center herself; looking up): Good (seeing the monorail pull in; she still had plenty of time to get to the docks and pick up Claire's nephews. Zara waited to board until all the passengers disembarked. She made her way to the back of the tram where there was less people as Zara didn't like the feeling of being crowded or penned in.)

Dr Wu (reviewing the notes and video footage; reminding himself to destroy the footage later, he had barely made the window to remove it before it would have been backed up to the main server): Are you sure no one knows about this? No one saw you, you are certain (hands on the table leaning forward.)

Hoskins (frustrated; he thought Dr Wu was being paranoid): No, no one saw me, even uh (bitterly) Dearing and her little shadow had left by that time. I was hired to check all the security aspects they pay me no mind. (Angrily) tried again last night, your device still won't alter the security locks or change the code like you promised. (Pointing) you need to get that fixed.

Dr Wu (unhappy): Or maybe (pausing) you need to learn to follow instructions and do your job as you're paid to. We need the research material as well as a field test. It's a simple plan.

Hoskins (setting his cup down): Well you're simple plan isn't working (walking away from Dr Wu's desk) our deadline's up Sunday, that gives us two days. Your little device with its code isn't working, if that code doesn't work then we cant get that door open and then we don't have our field research. Without field research neither of us are getting paid.

Dr Wu (storming up to him): I'm well aware of the problem. (Staring the man down) we'll get this fixed and I want to remind you, who you work for.

Hoskins (waving him off): Listen doc I know who I work for, I know what has to be done so let's get to it then.

Dr Wu (thoughtfully): And it must be a small test, we don't want it rampaging after the visitors or other employees, do we understand each other.

Hoskins (agreeing): I have that well in hand. If we're done here I have work to do. If you want this completed then I suggest you figure out why that little box isn't working like it should.

Dr (waving the man off): Yes, yes I'm sure that you'll have more than enough work to do, Mr Hoskins (laughing) more than enough work to do. (Leaning back in his chair another loose end that would have to be dealt with, eventually.)

Indominus Rex Area
Security Officer (checking over the controls, marking down the time and readings and the doctors name, all part of protocol): Dam things huge, (nervously) gives me the creeps. We have enough dinosaurs that are big and scary enough, what's the point?

Dr Soren (writing down information): It's what the investors want, what the guests want and they want it bigger, scarier, more teeth. Just do your job make sure it stays in there and don't ask about anything you don't need to know or which is none of your concern. Your concern is to make sure she is fed, kept in that pen and that no one enters the area without proper authorization or an authorized escort.

Security Officer (nodding): Fine just making small talk, is all, nothing wrong with that.

Dr Soren (looking at him; short to the point): No there isn't, just a very busy day. I'll be back this afternoon (turning on her heels and walking out.)

Security Officer (shaking his head): Already looking forward to it (pausing) not and you have yourself a good day. (Some people just thought they were better than everyone else, well not everyone, like Ms Dearing for example, she was always nice, polite and respectful to other people. That's what people needed to do more of have some manners and get the stick out of their arses.

Raptor Paddock
Owen (checking over the new employee who had fallen off the catwalk into the pen; the guy barely escaping the raptors): Never turn your back on them. Be more careful the next time (patting his arm) you have to pay attention at all times. They're wild animals not part of a petting zoo.

Barry (coming up behind Owen): He all right (Owen nodded) got our supplies in, we have no visitors from corporate today (seeing the look on Owen's face) what's the matter (Owen looked worried?) Hey the Raptors are fine no one got hurt, whats the matter?

Owen (shaking his head): Heard Hoskins talking this morning to Dr Wu about the new dinosaur they cooked up in the lab. I don't know just something about him seems off, I mean why would Hoskins be asking Dr Wu about a dinosaur? His job is to supervise, make sure we do our jobs, make sure the paddocks are secure, that the dinosaurs are where they're supposed to be. Hoskins doesn't give a rats ass about the dinosaurs, except for his dam research, so what's his thing with Dr Wu.?

Barry (having his own suspicions): Probably wants material for his field research, what type of predator is it, how fast can it run, you know Hoskins, he's got this idea in his head to use dinosaurs for military operations. It won't happen, corporate already said no and so did Mr Masrani and you know Ms Dearing told him to get out of her office when he tried to go through her, gave him an earful and told him that in no uncertain terms was that going to happen. (Patting Owen on the shoulder) don't worry about it to much, let's get out of here for a few hours, relax, maybe the sun and the heats getting to you (his tone light.)

Owen (unable to shake the feeling of something was not right, that something just under the surface was off ; other than that the Raptors were all set for the morning, he figured that he just need to clear his head): Yeah, sure, you're probably right (still unable to shake the feeling.)

Ferry Landing
1100
Zara had introduced herself to Zach and Gray and was currently explaining that their aunt couldn't be here at the moment. She could see the looks of disappointment on both of their faces. Hades she was disappointed Claire wasn't here herself.

Zach (antsy, moody): Aunt Claire couldn't make it, could she (flatly, disappointed.)

Zara (wondering what had she agreed to; Zach the older of the two seemed to be a typical moody teenager as Claire had said, the younger boy Gray seemed to vibrate with excitement and curiosity and a ton of youthful energy she wished she had at the moment): Yes, she's, (correcting herself) your aunt got tied up this morning and asked me to come and get you. And I know you probably don't need a babysitter, however the park is huge and your coming here for the first time so maybe you can think of me as your guide for the day (looking at them both) maybe.

Zach (shrugging): Yeah sure whatever (wanting to get moving see things, explore the place a bit.)

Zara (it was progress): Good, now then we'll take the monorail which will bring us to the area just outside Central Plaza and we'll go to the hotel drop your things off and freshen up a bit.

Gray (pointing out): What about our luggage?

Zara (turning around; squatting down so she could be at his eye level): It'll be brought to your hotel room. And if in the event it doesn't (Gray's concerned look) well it should (firmly) we've never had a problem, but in the event something does happen then the hotel will provide you with whatever you need. Sound good (Gray nodded) the monorail is also a great way to see the park, you'll also probably (grinning) see some dinosaurs on the way as we head to the hotel.

Gray (excited tugging on Zach's hand): Let's go, the web page mentioned along the monorail ride you can see the Gallimimus, Triceratops, Apatosaurus, Anklyosaurus (rambling on.)

Zach (putting his earphones in his ears): Yeah, you've read that web page a billion times, come on Gray (he didn't know quite what to make of the brunette, sure she wasn't his aunt, she was out of her element, however Zach noticed she was polite, knowledgeable knew both of their names and listened which was rare for adults in his opinion and she seemed nice.)

Zara let out a breath, took another breath and guided Claire's nephews to the platform. The area was already teeming with tourists, she bit her lip to fight the anxiety of being in a crowded space, closing her eyes for a moment she let out another breath, it was going to be a long day.

Indominus Rex Area
1205
Dr Wu (finishing): She's wasn't bred, she was designed. Years of research, DNA coding and structure. She's amazing isn't she (proudly?)

Claire (having an eerie feeling about that sentence): Yes, (taking a moment thinking over his statement and letting it sink in with the investors) ladies and gentleman, this is Dr Wu our lead geneticist. Dr Wu worked with Mr Hammond when they created the first park and when Masrani Global took over after Hammond's unfortunate passing, Dr Wu signed on to continue his research for Masrani Global. (Pausing) what can you tell us about her Dr Wu?

Dr Wu (proudly): The Indominus is over 6 and a half meters or 22 feet height, from tip to tail she's over 15 meters or 50 feet long and weighs in at just over 8 tons or 16,000 lbs, and she's the only one of her kind (beaming, proud of his research and waiting for just the right moment to show her to the world.)

Mr Drucker (whistling): Impressive Dr Wu, Ms Dearing I believe we have a contract to discuss.

Ms Brand (looking at the Indominus watching them; the thing was creepy): Is it safe?

Mr Ostley (tapping information into its tablet): Excuse me Ms Brand, one more thing, Dr Wu you said she's the only one of its kind.

Dr Wu (nodding): Yes there was a sibling, unfortunately there was an accident and the sibling died (not divulging the truth; he looked at Claire for a moment) now if you'll excuse me I have to get back to my research in the lab. Enjoy the rest of your visit, Ladies, Gentleman (rounding the corner he stopped and listened as Ms Dearing listed the safety measures, one thing Ms Dearing stated caused some concern, he would need to speak to Ms Dearing at the earliest opportunity.)

Claire (recalling Erica's question): Yes Ms Brand, it's perfectly safe, the walls are concrete steel reinforced epoxy re-bar. The upper portion of the enclosure is lined with 50, 000 volts of electricity and reinforced steel netting. Also, as a further precaution, the paddock area and enclosure have restricted badge access, meaning very few employees have access to the paddock and the viewing area, for safety reasons. Also the main gate to the paddock is to remain closed for further safety. The Indominus Rex can be viewed from this platform only by escort by an authorized employee.

Ms Brand (grin): Well Ms Dearing since you put it that way, Mr Drucker go ahead.

Mr Drucker (smiling): You've got yourself a deal Ms Dearing. Let's get that paperwork signed and show the Indominus to the world.

Claire (proudly): Of course (her phone buzzed and checking the caller ID she saw it was Human Resources, probably already complaints about access and right now it could wait, she pressed the ignore button.) Once the paperwork is signed you can enjoy the rest of your day as guests of the park. (Smirking at the smiles on their faces, Mr Masrani would be happy with the news of further corporate sponsorship, Claire on the hand was just glad the meeting had gone well and now it was over and that she could get away from here.)

Hotel

1215
Zach followed his brother into the hotel room looking around and noticing how fancy it was, well his idea of fancy. Against one wall there were two neatly made double beds with a picture of the park centered over them, against the opposite wall stood two tall dressers, a closet tucked in the corner, on the far side of the room there were small table and two chairs near the door to the balcony, opposite of that was a desk and another chair. Next to the desk and a chair was a small kitchen area with a microwave on a shelf, below it was another shelf with a coffee maker on it and packets of coffee in a basket next to it tucked in neatly below was a small refrigerator.

Zara (walking over to the kitchen area; remember staying in a room similar to this during the initial review process before she was hired): There's a fridge with water, juice…

Zach (padding over to the writing desk): Is there any soda, a pop, coke?

Zara (there wasn't but that could easily be fixed): No give me a moment and I'll have some sent up. You want coke, ginger ale (unsure.)

Zach (nodding): Just coke please (listening as she asked for the soda; then sat on the bed.)

Zara (turning to Gray): You want a coke too (he nodded and smiled at her. Zara placed called the front desk and asked for the sodas to be sent up. Ending the call she padded over to the writing desk; opening the heavy cardboard box she pulled out the VIP bracelets and the two heavy card stock envelopes revealing the prepaid gift cards): These are VIP bracelets, they'll get you onto all the rides and if want you can skip the lines. Please wear them at all times (picking up the envelops) and here we have these (holding up the two gift cards handing one to Zach and one to Gray.) They're prepaid, so food, drinks um…

Zach (finishing): Souvenirs (Zara nodded) cool (he was beginning to warm up to her, he knew she was trying her best, she didn't make small talk or talk down to them or ignore them, although he did catch her watching her phone several times, pressing the ignore button each of those times. Adults were weird anyway.)

Gray (having run out of patience): I want to see the dinosaurs, please can we go now.

Zach (agreeing, not wanting to wait for the soda to arrive, he would grab one at on of the cafes or restaurants he saw on his way in and Gray was right it was time to get out and explore the park): Yeah let's go see some dinosaurs (feeling a little excited now that he was here and seeing this place in person.)

Zara (calling out): Wait we still have to meet your Aunt Claire (they both gave her pleading looks) well we have a little time. Let's head over to the Gentle Giants petting zoo, they have young herbivores there and then we can swing by meet up with your aunt (Zach and Gray smiled at her.) Let's go then shall we.

Claire's Office
Claire set the contracts aside and emailed Mr Masrani a note regarding the deal, she sent a copy of the contract to legal and filed the written copy in the fourth cabinet and locked it. She heard the intercom buzz and answered. Dr Wu was here wanting to speak with her. Allowing him in, she stood up and smiled, wondering what was he doing here in the Command Center. As far as she could remember he rarely ever came to the Command Center or her office for that matter..
Claire (checking her watch; having ACUs number ready just in case): Dr Wu this is unexpected? (Concern she hoped there wasn't an asset out of containment) is there something wrong? Do we have an asset…

Dr Wu (shaking his head, she was not a woman to mess with, he had to remember that, Claire Dearing didn't get her job on looks alone; with her business sense and intelligence she had guided the building and design of the park from its inception): No please don't alarm yourself Ms Dearing. There's something I would like to discuss if you have a few moments.

Claire (motioning to the chair in front of her desk): Of course and I have about 20 before I have to meet my nephews and Ms Young. (Standing up looking out at the window briefly) would you like tea or coffee Dr Wu?

Dr Wu (smiling): No thank you. Speaking of Ms Young, she's your assistant correct?

Claire (felt her hackles rising but reigned in her temper): Officially she's the Operations Assistant and yes she works for me (wondering where this was going.) Is there….

Dr Wu (maybe, just maybe he might have found another work around to his little problem): Ms Dearing before we jump to conclusions or cause you unnecessary worry (leaning forward) it's just a minor concern, rest assured.

Claire (sitting down): Well part of my job is to make sure that there is nothing to worry about, especially considering (glancing at her monitor) that there are just under 20, 000 visitors in a park filled with dinosaurs. So you let me determine what I need to worry about. (Leaning forward) go on I'll see what I can do or who I can call.

Dr Wu (clearing his throat): Ms Young as your assistant would be granted the same access and authorization as you, correct.

Claire (not liking this one bit; a hundred different scenarios and questions came to mind, let's see where this leads): Due to the nature of my job and the different demands of my job, Ms Young's access mirrors mine in almost all aspects. Ms Young's access was set up, approved and overseen by Corporate, Mr Masrani and Human Resources.

Dr Wu (understanding; this might work in his favor): Does that include access to all the paddocks including the Indominus Rex area (Claire nodded.) There in lies my concern Ms Dearing and what I came to you to discuss.

Claire (this ought to be good): I'm listening (pulling up the company website and typing in Zara's name, she had an idea where this was going. Knowledge was key, she had the cards and she'd be dammed if anyone demeaned or undervalued an employee, especially Zara.)

Dr Wu (bluntly): Ms Young is an assistant and I'm sure more than proficient and qualified in her respective job duties. (Holding out his hand) as proficient in her field as she is I feel that her access to the Indominus Rex Paddock should be reconsidered as she's not part of Executive Management.

Claire (that did it, she had to remain professional though): Dr Wu you're concern is noted, I will also forward said concern to Mr Masrani. But before you dismiss Ms Young or consider dismissing another employee in the future I would ask that you use the inter corporate website. The website, which is heavily encrypted and monitored, lists information on all employees, that information includes date of birth, where they're from, their favorite dinosaur and their education among other pieces of information. Were you aware of this?

Dr Wu (surprised): No I was not, after all I'm in research and…

Claire (swinging one of the monitors around): Research well for research purposes I'll give you a quick tutorial.

Dr Wu (she caught him off guard and reminded him why not to underestimate her): I don't think (glancing at the monitor for a moment, his eyes widening as he read the screen, Undergraduate Paleontology/Archaeology. Masters in Business Administration and Data Analytics, LL M (pending post test) International Business Law.) I see, I didn't realize that Ms Young had a Masters in Business or had a law license pending.

Claire (turning the screen back to her): As you can see (pausing, smiling) she's one test or one semester away from either being a lawyer, or with sponsorship and a semester, a Doctorate degree in whatever field she chooses. (Smirking, she had him, now to go in and finish this so she could get on with her day and send Dr Wu back to his labs and research, it wasn't that she didn't like the doctor but there was something, something off about him) so technically even though she is currently employed under Operations Assistant, she's more qualified, technically, then I am for the access to the Indominus Rex Paddock seeing as I just have a Master's in Business (A Masters In Business with Management and Data Analytics as her focus.)

Dr Wu (this could prove useful still): My apologies Ms Dearing, it seems my concerns are unfounded and I apologize for taking up your time.

Claire (she bit back the smug smirk at having put the issue to rest; motioning): Is there anything else Dr Wu? Anything else I can help with? Anything I can answer for you?

Dr Wu (smiling): No, thank you Ms Dearing I appreciate your attention and knowledge in this manner.

Claire (standing): It's no problem at all, sometimes we overlook the little things. If you need anything else feel free to call me.

Dr Wu (wanting to get out of there, this was unexpected, unfortunate but ultimately could work in his favor): Thank you. I hope to take you up on your offer for tea sometime Ms Dearing.

Claire (watching him leave): I'd like that (hitting the door locks the minute he was out the door.) Well, well that adds another piece to the little puzzle. (Reaching over she dialed the familiar number) Alex, Claire (listening) what's going on there, what's all the noise. Well that was fast, so that makes it what, seven (listening) well I hate to add to your pile and your screens (laughing) I know and I appreciate that but I need you to do what you do best. (Standing and straightening her desk) no nothing like that Dr Wu. Yes, yes that doctor, I need a monitor on his badge and access and give me his whereabouts for the past four days. No I'll pick up the report later on. Thank you. (Locking up her computer and grabbing her purse she headed for the door to meet with Zara and her nephews. There was something about the whole conversation and Dr Wu in general that didn't seem to fit.)

Innovation Center
1255
Claire descended the stairs talking on her phone, taking in all the visitors and the looks of excitement on their faces. She spotted Zara and took a moment to watch her, Zara was gorgeous the way she stood in the light, beautiful always of course but the way the light hit her at the moment, made her look ethereal. Observing Zara's posture, the slight fidgeting she could see how tired and tense Zara appeared, figuring, no knowing it was the crowds of people, Claire also noted Zara seemed lost in thought as she watched Zach and Gray, both of whom looking around with excitement, Claire was happy that they were enjoying themselves. Ending the call she greeted Zach and Gray, Zach smiled at her while Gray rushed over and gave her a hug. Claire sadly realized she hadn't seen them physically in person in a few years, Claire had only seen them through video calls and pictures. Zach immediately pointing out that fact and the length of time that had passed, since she had last visited Wisconsin.

Claire (noticing how tall Zach was now and Gray was growing up fast): Seven, seven years wow.

Zach (looking around; trying to take everything in at once): You can't join us this afternoon, Aunt Claire?

Claire (shaking head): I wish I could, but that is why I sent Zara my (looking for a word and wincing as Zara blurted it out.)

Zara (flatly): Assistant (not looking at Claire when she said it.)

Claire (hiding the hurt): Zara is amazing, knows the park better than I do. Zara can take you anywhere you'd like to go. You have your wristbands for the rides (they both nodded. I have a surprise for you, for tomorrow (Zach and Gray both perked up) I have us a reserved spot for early in the morning to take one of the Gyrospheres into the valley, where you'll be able to see (beaming) large herds of herbivores, such as the Apatosaurus, Brachiosaurus, Gallimimus Triceratops and then we'll have breakfast together at the base of the valley (Claire could tell that both liked the idea and were looking forward to it.)

Zach (liking the idea): You'll be with us all day (wanting to try to get to know his aunt better. She remembered their birthdays, holidays but had rarely spent any time together in person.)

Claire (swallowing): Yes except for an hour or two that I have to be onsite for an inspection then we'll have the rest of the day. I tried everything I could to get out of it, but there's nothing I can do to change it.

Zach (shrugging): It's all right Aunt Claire but that ride in the Gyrosphere, that'll be cool.

Claire (beaming): And we'll have breakfast near the aviary, whatever you want.

Gray (excited): Cool, can we please go see the dinosaurs now?

Claire (laughing): Give me a minute to speak to Zara, make sure she has what she needs.

(Touching her hand to Zara's elbow; her voice low) what's wrong? (Reaching down to rub the back of Zara's hand with her thumb) everything okay (concern, squeezing Zara's hand in support.)

Zara (closed her eyes before speaking): Nothing, nothings wrong (sighing Claire gave her a look that said she didn't believe her) it's Alec he keeps calling, texting and I'm frustrated with it Claire.

Claire (pointing out): Can you block his number for a few hours? (Wishing she could pull Zara in a hug, hold her close, ease the anxiety and tension, let her have a moment to breath. She also realized she really should be with her nephews and not Zara. As for Alec she was ready to call him herself and give him a piece of her mind, about bothering a very, very valuable, very special person. She would make this up to her she promised.)

Zara (catching Claire's look of affection, concern): Maybe I should, it'll be a lot bloody quieter for sure.

Claire (worry): Zara you said assistant and you're not just...

Zara (softly): Claire, we're not telling them exactly what I am to you (smiling softly) I said assistant and it's fine, I promise (running Claire's schedule through her head and) did we get that contract signed from Verizon?

Claire (deflecting): Yes the papers are signed and everything's in order Verizon presents the Indominus Rex (her phone beeped, signaling a new message) I've got to take this, I'm sorry (Claire's eyes locked with Zara's saying I'm sorry for not being here, sorry for you to have to show my nephews around, sorry for the amount of work and demands and sorry for not doing better in their relationship.)

Zara (understanding what Claire wasn't saying with that sad look): Go on, it's okay (watching Claire as she spoke with Zach and Gray then she was walking across the floor, moving around people, Claire's phone to her ear. That left Zara to come up with an idea that would give Zach and Gray an experience of a lifetime or that was the plan. She also hoped her phone would stay quiet, well except for Claire of course and anything to do with park business. She also hoped Zach and Gray continued to enjoy themselves, grinning as she realized they were warming up to her.

East Part of the Island
1415
Zara and the boys had eaten lunch at one of the small cafes off Main St, one of the few cafes that wasn't as busy or teeming visitors as some of the other places. Zara had signed out an SUV and grabbed drinks to go, and here they were, driving along the inner road of the park, away from the hustle and main part of the park. Out here it was like almost stepping back in time, there were hardly any buildings, little to no visitors, just plants, wildlife, trees and dinosaurs. Zara loved being out here, being out away from all the hustle and bustle, she loved her job but sometimes, sometimes it was good to just be in nature enjoying nature and the quiet.

Zach (excited): This is so cool (looking around at the scenery) this isn't on the map or the brochure. On the website is shows this road and another road that goes all the way around the island. What do you use this one for?

Zara (grinning): This road leads all around the inner part of the island, behind paddocks and areas that are off limits to visitors. The other road extends the circumference of the island for larger vehicles, or training exercises or for exigent circumstances.

Zach (except for them of course): Do all employees use it, can visitors use it?

Zara (nodding): Yes (taking a sip of her lemonade) most do, employees that is. It's part of the mystery of the place, that is having visitors enjoy the dinosaurs and not seeing vehicles driving back and forth or the hard work that goes into running the park. To your other question, yes visitors could use the roads with a guide or Park Ranger, provided they give advanced notice, sign a set of waivers and a rental agreement for a vehicle.

Gray (leaning forward): What are those signs for (pointing out the front of the SUV?)

Zara (grinning): Those are markers, they give off the location of the area in reference to the part of the park that you're in and where you're headed on the island. They're especially helpful at night when you can't always recognize landmarks or such.

Gray (wondering): You drive out here at night?

Zara (slowing down at the next curve): I work with you aunt and as part of my job, sometimes it calls for me to go to other areas in the park to attend to some matter, or check on one of the dinosaurs or collect a report and that means at all hours.

Gray (curious): Check on the dinosaurs, don't other people do that.

Zara (glancing at Zach for a moment): Yes, we have people that take care of the dinosaurs but in case one of them gets sick or hurt then your aunt, or myself or both of us have to show up and ask questions and check on the animal. There are other times when your aunt has business affairs to attend to and I go along to be her eyes and ears, especially if we're doing a contract, getting someone to sponsor something.

Zach (catching on): Like today when she had that meeting or other…

Zara (nodding): Yes like today, not always but sometimes I do (or on the rare lucky occasion a little privacy to see the park at night and enjoy not only the scenery but each other. Wistfully she tried to think of the last time they had the moment to enjoy the park like that.)

Zach (wondering where they were going): So where are we headed then? You said it's a surprise.

Gray (excitedly): Yeah where are we going?

Zara (smirking): To see a friend of mine. A very big friend of mine (grinning.) It'll be another few minutes but I think you'll enjoy what you're about to see.

Zach (relaxing back in the seat): This is pretty awesome, out here like this, not a lot people and its quiet except for the dinosaurs calling or whatever noise they're making.

Zara (navigating the rough road carefully; she too loved how much quieter it was): Glad you're enjoying it. The noise you hear are dinosaurs way of communicating, it could be calling out to another group, or a different herd or just saying hello.

Gray (admiring the view, practically bouncing in his seat): We've got to take a lot of pictures to show mom when we get back.

Zara (glancing at the dashboard notification system, signal issue): Dam bugger.

Zach (not liking that sentence; unlocking his phone he had no bars, that was weird): What's wrong?

Zara (considering; that was weird): We're having an intermittent signal issue. (Slowing down) now then (pulling under a large conifer tree) here we are (pulling into a fenced off wooded area) go slow and easy and you see there (pointing) right behind those tall grasses.

Zach (dropping his phone): That's a, that's a…

Gray (pointing out excitedly): A Triceratops, meaning three horned, and they could be as long as 30 feet and weight up to 16, 000 lbs (following his brother as they jumped out of the truck.)

Zara (smiling, closing the driver's side door): Very good and yes that is a Triceratops, a juvenile not fully grown and her name is…

Dr Rodriguez (joining them): Sera, she's three years old, and she's missed you Zara.

Zara (beaming): Hi Zia thanks for meeting me here (hugging her friend.)

Dr Rodriguez (returning the hug): Hey girl, about time you came to see your friend here. Been a bit, I thought you got lost in the piles of paperwork. (Nodding to the two lads standing next to Zara) and who do we have with you today?

Zara (extending her hand): Dr Zia Rodriguez this is Zach and Gray Mitchell, Claire's nephews.

Zia (shaking both of their hands): Pleasure to meet you, well Gray, would you like to meet Sera (an excited nod) how about you Zach?

Zach (nodding): Yeah I mean is it…

Dr Rodriguez (laying out the ground rules first): She's a herbivore, she is a wild animal and you have to be careful with any animal. Sera is the youngest Triceratops on the island. She's a juvenile and learning to socialize and be on her own. (Smiling) she's pretty friendly though.

Zach (watching the animal): You mean she's not fully grown yet?

Zia (shaking her head): No she's got a ways to go. But at this age we take them out of the nursery and rearing areas to start meeting the other Triceratops and form the necessary social bonds.

Gray (excited): Can we get closer?

Zia (looking at Zara who nodded): Sure, keep your hands out and your movements slow. (Guiding Gray over to Sera who immediately perked up at her new visitors) I brought you some friends to visit with girl.

Gray (reaching out to touch one of the large horns, feeling the hard boney protrusion, gently moving his hand across her leathery skin, it was rough and warm; Gray smiled as she pushed into him): Awesome, just awesome.

Zia (placing her hand on Gray's shoulder to steady him): See the stripes along her face and neck and then along her flank, they're camouflage…

Gray (finishing): Makes it harder for predators to see her, right.

Zia (nodding): Yes, very good. (Turning towards Zach, motioning him to come closer) Zach what is her frond for…

Zach (gently touching the side of the Triceratops neck; this was better than anything he had imagined, up close and personal with a Triceratops and on the first day no less): The frond protects her neck in the case she gets in a fight, (admiring the different tones of color) she's very pretty.

Gray (touching his brother's hand): And she's bigger in person, the books and pictures don't do a Triceratops justice.

Zach (agreeing): A lot bigger in person (buzzing with excitement.)

Gray (mentioning): She's still growing right (Zia nodded, and he giggled as Sera butted him again.)

Zara watched with amusement and delight, pulling out her phone slowly and taking a few pictures of the boys and Sera. She was glad that Zach and Gray had the chance to experience something most visitors to the park didn't get to experience. Visitors could ask for something like this but more often then not they didn't. Most visitors from the reviews she had read with Claire wanted to see and do everything, and all at once, see the biggest and scariest dinosaurs. Smiling she was enjoying herself, some of her tension dissipating, not totally gone but she felt a little less agitated and edgy. Maybe it was what she needed and if she needed it then Claire also needed it, maybe more so.

Zia (moving closer to him, in case she pushed him down, she was rather large compared to his small size): Yeah so let me tell you a story, this Trike here was partially raised by Zara (glancing in Zara's direction. When Sera was much smaller, Zara would come over to the nursery, whenever she had free time and help feed her, play with her and start training her. Oftentimes Sera would fall asleep in Zara's lap, of course she was a lot smaller at the time (laughing.)

Zach (wide eyed, he blinked looked at Zara then at Sera): Really, how come you never said anything. That is so cool (grinning.)

Zia (chuckling): Zara's too modest, and I think she needs to come back and do it more often, spend some time in the park instead of buried in that office of yours. You are going to come and say hello aren't you?

Zara (biting her lip, grinning; figuring there went her reputation): All right, all right, wanted to give Gray and Zach a chance to meet her (smirking; slowly approaching the now larger Trike) hey girl, remember me (the Trike let out a bellow which Zara knew to be a welcome in dinosaur language, remembering her calling out like that when she was much smaller.) You're getting pretty big (rubbing her hand gently along the side of the Trike's face, the Trike of course pushing into Zara) you've got some pretty markings on you, and look at those horns of yours (another push and Zara was touching her face very slowly and gently with both hands, totally absorbed in the moment) okay, okay easy there girl (giggling as Sera pushed against her hip) I didn't bring any treats with me (her grin ear to ear and beaming.) You want to show them what you can do, I mean only if you want to. It's up to you (stepping back a bit, her hands out to her sides) well (grinning as Sera took a step towards her) that's it.

Zia (took a few photos and watched Zara interact with the Triceratops): Watch what happens (pointing to where Zara and Sera were standing facing each other. Woman and dinosaur communicating, each watching the other.)

Gray and Zach watched as Zara began to walk, softly talking to Sera and the Trike began following her. When Zara stopped so did Sera and when Zara moved Sera followed. Sera taking cues from Zara as she walked around, the Trike following and moving as Zara did. They smiled wide eyed grinning ear to ear, they couldn't believe what they were seeing even though they were seeing it.

Zach (excitedly): That is so cool, like Zara can talk to her…

Zia (agreeing): More like listening to each other, communicating in another way. Animals are very smart, smarter than we'll ever give them credit for. Dinosaurs are no exception, especially if they're trained from a young age and it's about respect.

Gray (remembering a conversation with his Aunt): Like when Aunt Claire mentioned something about a Raptor guy.

Zia (knowing who they were talking about): Owen Grady, he's our Raptor Trainer (of course Raptors were much more dangerous then a Triceratops.) Always remember animals can be dangerous if they're hungry, scared or frightened. We respect them and we can have more moments like this, but well I'm sure you know.

Zach (agreeing): Like with a puppy, you're good to a puppy and as it gets bigger its good to you.

Zia (smiling; someone else who understood): Exactly. But you have to remain good to the puppy and take really good care of it, right Gray (Gray nodded.)

Zara (rubbing the side of Sera's face): I'll come back soon, I promise (walking back to Zach and Gray, listening as Sera let out a low soft rumble) I'll come back tomorrow (facing Sera.) I'll bring you a treat too (another push against her hip) I don't have any treats on me but I'll be back and maybe I'll bring another friend.

Zia (motioning): Told you she wouldn't forget you (not that anyone could forget Zara Young or her beauty or her intelligence and Zara had captured the equally stunning intriguing beautiful Claire Dearing. Zia saw them as the hottest couple on the island and bugger off on what anyone else thought.) You've got to try and take a little time and come out from behind the paperwork piles and see her more often and bring Clare along as well, she needs to get out more.

Zara (biting her lip; another thing she wanted to do more of): Thank you so much for this and for meeting us here (squeezing Zia's hands.) I appreciate it.

Zia (squeezing her arm): Anytime Zara, and next time get Claire up here before that office buries her under all that work. (Reaching out shaking Zach's hand) Gray, Zach I have to get back to work, it was a pleasure meeting you both and if you want to see Sera again before you leave have your Aunt or Zara call me, sound good.

Zach (shaking her hand): Thank you, (his smile lit up his face) it was nice meeting you, too.

Gray (giving Zia a quick hug): Thank you Dr Rodriguez, that was amazing.

Zara (walking back to the truck): Did you have fun?

Gray (practically bouncing): That was awesome, coolest thing ever, thank you, can we do that again tomorrow? Can we bring Aunt Claire too?

Zach (happy): Yeah please can we do that again tomorrow and bring Aunt Claire too?

Zara (getting in the driver's seat, waiting till they were both in): Well we'll see (hoping they could) but I'll do my best and if not tomorrow definitely before you leave on Sunday. (Not wanting to give away the surprise Claire had for them tomorrow) and maybe I can talk your Aunt into coming along to.

Command Center
Claire's Office
1530
Claire sighed in relief, having a few moments to herself, thinking of Zara and the boys hoping they were having fun and not driving Zara up the wall. Claire leaned back in her chair, closing her eyes for a moment, grinning she reached for her phone dialing Zara's number, it went straight to voice mail. Weird she checked the clock it was going on 1540 and she was due to meet Mr Masrani in 20minutes. Claire dialed Zach's number and also got his voicemail. Thinking then it dawned on her pulling up her email program she searched through a few before she found what she was looking for. Could Zara be out of range or in the area where they had the comm issues? Leaning over she dialed another number from memory.

Voice answering: Talbot lower garage.

Claire (fiddling with her pen): Talbot, Claire Dearing, I was wondering did Ms Young sign out a vehicle today (hearing papers rustling in the background.)

Talbot: Yes Ms Dearing she took one of the large SUV s. She had two young men with her as well. (Silence) do you want me to go look for her?

Claire (wanting to go look herself, ensure herself that Zara, Zach and Gray were okay; they probably were): No Talbot but um wait do you have the vehicle number Ms Young took out.

Talbot (reading off to her): Sure right Ms Dearing B18H as in Bravo one eight Hotel.

Claire (typing the information into her computer in the program that listed all the vehicles and their ids that were used in the park): Bravo one eight Hotel. Thank you Talbot (ending the call.) The phone rang and recognizing the number answered it straight away hi I was wondering where you were and if you were okay. What have you and the boys been up to?

Upper Road
1555
Zara (shifting in her seat): I'm with Zach and Gray up by the Trike area, I'm getting a lot of interference though. Everything's fine hold on (turning) say hi to your Aunt Claire (they both yelled out a greeting that made her wince) yes everything's fine. We went to see a friend of mine, Zia met us up there. (Laughing) yes that one, oh shush, you wouldn't (laughter) oh, ho we'll see about that. Sera's a juvenile, obviously bigger then the last time I saw her and her markings are gorgeous. (Biting her lip) Claire Dearing you wouldn't, wait until I see you later (laughing) listen you're fading out I'll call or text when we get back. No we're going back to the hotel then I'll get started on reviewing some supports. Okay bye.

Zach (hearing only part of the conversation, another piece of a puzzle slid into place after hearing his father mention something about there was more to his aunt and her assistant then they let on): Everything okay Zara, Aunt Claire sure worries about you a lot.

Zara (ended the call and followed the sharp curve of the road; how had this conversation come up): Your aunt and I are very good friends, we work together, spend most of the day working together and she worries about me, wants to know I'm okay. It's the way your aunt is, caring, understanding. (Hoping that detracted him from any further conversation about his aunt, because she certainly was not going to have that conversation, oh no.) We'll continue on the service road, passing by a few other dinosaur paddocks and then back to the hotel. (Looking in the rear mirror at Gray who was totally absorbed in the scenery) and remember you're having dinner with your aunt tonight at 8 sharp.

Zach (he knew she wasn't telling him something or she was trying to hide something, he hated when adults did that, like he wasn't old enough or he wouldn't understand; realizing what she said, he sat up pleading): Don't tell me it's suit and tie, please (covering his face.)

Zara (chuckling): Relax it's not a suit and tie (laughing) no suit and tie, your aunt wouldn't do that.

Zach (shaking his head): No suit and tie, (still nervous) you're sure (she nodded.)

Gray (laughing): Good because I don't want to wear one at all.

Zara (laughing): No suits, no ties although trousers, dress shoes and a nice shirt, unless (pursing her lips a pair of nice jeans and a nice shirt would do for dinner.

Zach (shaking his head; answering his phone): Hi mom, we're fine. Yes we just got to see a Triceratops yes a Triceratops. Sure, she's right here (holding the phone out to Zara) it's my mom.

Zara (tensing; this was going to be interesting): Mrs Mitchell, yes, well yes, Claire that it er um well I'm here and everything's fine. No they're good everything's good. We met up with a Paleovetinarian that looks after the younger dinosaurs and she offered to introduce them to one. (Listening) actually we're heading back to the hotel now. No well it's fine yes (pulling the phone away from her ear) Gray your mum (sighing in relief.)

Zach (chuckling): Wow. (His eyes wide teasing) just wow and here you just were walking around with a Triceratops following you. (Laughing) and my mum wants to talk to you and...

Zara (figuring he had gotten her back for her earlier teasing): Not a word, not a word (her tone light and teasing.)

Zach (seeing another side to the woman who was showing them around): You can face Aunt Claire if her temper is anything like my mothers, a Triceratops (laughing) but my mother made you nervous.

Zara (Claire was going to pay for this): She didn't make me nervous, I was being polite, reserved. I've only spoken to her once (Zach was chuckling in the seat) hush or I will let your aunt know you would prefer a suit and tie.

Zach (laughing): Ok, okay truce (holding out his hand.)

Zara (smirking, shaking his hand as she navigated the road): Truce then.

Gray (handing Zach his phone back): Mom said that after dinner we have to call her and also to remind Aunt Claire to call her too.

Zach (tilting his head against the window): Right I already know. (Laughing again about Zara speaking to his mother. This day was turning out better than he had thought it would.)

Zara (easing down onto the lower road to head back towards Central Plaza; she also had calls to make tonight as well): Is everything all right with your mom?

Zach (wiggling his hand): Yeah it's just she misses us is all (figuring Zara knew about the divorce through his Aunt Claire) everything going on you know.

Zara (knowing Karen was going through a divorce): That's why it's important you at least try to call her.

Gray (innocently): Do you call your mom a lot Zara?

Zara (biting her lip; again how had this come up): Not as much as I can or I should (she would definitely have to call her tonight.) However, unlike you both, I'm an adult working on an island (waiting for the gate to open) I work a lot of hours and there's also a seven hour time difference between us and a very, very large body of water too.

Gray (curious innocence): Where are you from Zara?

Zara (chuckling): Well I'm originally from Ashford Ireland, southeast of Dublin. I moved to London for University and that's where I worked until I applied for a job here.

Gray (sitting back): You are a long way from home. It's a lot farther than we're from.

Zach (remembering a conversation he overheard with his mother and aunt): You're 25 right, that's…

Zara (grumbling; Claire was definitely going to owe here for this): And why are we suddenly discussing me (giggling from the backseat.?) Now as for you two, what I know is that you're from Madison Wisconsin, you live in the same house your mum and aunt grew up in. (Pausing) what about you two? What's your favorite subject in school? Are you into sports? What sports do you play?

Gray (thoughtfully): I don't play any sports and neither does Zach because he's too busy being stuck in his room gaming or out with his girlfriend.

Zach (turning around): Hey! At least I'm not memorizing an encyclopedia before breakfast.

Gray(arguing): I do not. And so what if I do, it's important to know things.

Zach (countering): You do too. Not everything, especially not at 8 in the morning.

Zara (laughing): All right, all right you each have your own things that's good and it's important. What's your favorite subject Gray?

Gray (thinking): Well Science is usually my favorite but I like history too.

Zara (glancing at Zach): What about you Zach?

Zach (grumbling): History, Shop Class, not mechanics shop but building and designing and repair shop

Zara (shifting in her seat): And what do you play PS or X Box?

Zach (interested now): PS4 way better than X box. Graphics and games are too, just my opinion.

Zara (figuring it couldn't hurt): I've got the PS4 as well, though I don't have much time to play like I used to (rounding the curve that would lead them into central plaza.)

Gray (sitting back): Games are boring (he got an are not from both occupants in the front seat.) Well you don't learn anything from them (another yes you do) not really.

Zach (turning around): You do too (Gray stuck his tongue out at him and he shook his head.)

Zara (relaxing a little as she took the lower road into Central Plaza, pulling into the front of the hotel): Remember your Aunt will be here at 8 sharp.

Gray (beaming): Thank you Zara, will we see you tomorrow?

Zara (grinning): Yes I think we're meeting either for lunch or dinner, after that we'll see.

Zach (climbing out): Thanks Zara, that was a lot of fun.

Zara (smiling): You're welcome, (waiting a moment, watching them head into the hotel, turning into traffic turning into traffic driving over to the garage. All in all it hadn't been as bad as she had feared. They warmed up to her pretty quickly, they were very bright and well behaved. Now, with Zach and Gray at the hotel she had some phone calls to make herself.)
