Command Center

Vivian (reading through a report): Franklin, can you rerun this using these parameters and let me know what you find (handing him a piece of paper.)

Franklin (taking the paper from her): Still nothing on the video (a grumbled no) are there any reflective surfaces that we could…

Vivian (cursing): Shit, you're right, hold on (pulling up another screen) let me see (typing in some commands) I can't make out the make of the vehicle either, all I know it's one of the larger SUV's.

Franklin (waiting): And that doesn't narrow it down by much (shifting) how many vehicles do we have on this island any

Vivian (scrolling through slowly): The vehicle could have come from anywhere in the park and we have several different makes and models but I know it isn't an ACU carrier, they're much higher up and they're not painted white.

Lowery (loudly): I have a partial number (realizing) which isn't going to narrow it down much.

Vivian (leaning over): Let me see (dialing the number to the central garage) Glen, good morning (listening) I have a partial vehicle number, Sequence 09 I can't get the letter and I can't figure out the make just yet. It's not ACU's right (turning writing down some notes) all right let me know what you come up with (ending the call.) Let's continue reviewing footage, backtrack through the park from Indominus Paddock, all roads too.

Renee (tapping her headset): Ms Krill, the ferry captain called, three ferries for the opening of the park this morning, already sent a message to Ms Dearing and Ms Young.

Sasha (reading off the list): Park Ride Supervisor called, inspections complete, ready to go (opening the email program) forwarded information off to Ms Dearing and Ms Young.

Vivian (sighing, three ferries landing at 0900 meant it was going to get busy really fast, glancing at the projected numbers Zara had sent): Medical Priority 1 on all channels, the projected numbers and advanced sales are on the board, factor in the triple digit temperatures, we know the drill, let's get to it people. (Pointing) Sasha get a hold of food service and check their inspection list as well. (Looking around) it's going to be a long day people, one step at a time.

Gyropshere Ride
Claire parked the white Mercedes SUV and stepped out, she took a breath, feeling the heat and humidity already. Looking around she took a moment to enjoy the quiet stillness before the park opened. Glancing up the path she grabbed her bag and began the 15 minute trek up the path to meet Zach and Gray.

ACU Office
ACU Officer Dumand (shifting): All right, projections are in, we're doubling up, security and parks will assist us. The assignments are the same, no change, temperatures will be in the triple digits, also (holding up a piece of paper) from Ms Dearing, cc'd Mr Masrani all the paddock enclosures are to remain locked, no extra tours, nothing special this weekend. (Glancing up) guests will complain but this is the boss's orders until further notice, (glancing around) any questions? Good stay hydrated, keep an eye on the crowds, try to prevent any incidents, be safe.

Officer Talbot (walking up to her): We're down to a skeleton crew in triple digit heat, it's going to be a long ass day. (Knowing how the heat could affect everything and everybody) whose bright idea was it to schedule a training at this time of the year.

Dumand (checking her gear): Corporate, and we can't do much about it now, we're already in the thick of it. (Adjusting a strap) did you read over the email regarding the extra med tent for the weekend?

Talbot (reading over the notes): Yes, that'll help, and also read Mr Masrani's policy review on the use of tranquilizers. (Remembering) all incidents are to be kept quiet as possible this weekend because of the high attendance records.

Dumand (nodding): Hopefully the dinosaurs won't go busting out of their paddocks then (the recent incidents of escaped dinosaurs was not a good indication of that not happening) I don't want Ms Dearing after me anymore than I would want a T Rex after me (grinning.)

Talbot (glancing over the notes): What is up with the non use of the cattle prods, especially with some of the larger dinosaurs? That's a little off don't you think?

Dumand (agreeing): Unfortunately it's not my decision we both know that those tranquilizers can take time to work (checking over the map of the park.) Those few moments could put us in further danger, I'll mention it to Blane when he gets back. You good (a nod) let's go, I've got the north end of the park to check and then I'll move east and circle around.

Talbot (following her): Yeah for now, wish the highers ups would just leaves us to do our jobs the way we're trained to and not but in.

Dumand (getting two sets of keys): You know how it is, until they get nose to horn with a dinosaur they're not going to know.

Talbot (that was true): Right, still doesn't help us. (Leaning on the truck) I've got the welcoming committee by the ferry then the road to the aviary and I'll swing west.

Dumand (recapping): Patrols are out, we've got as much as we can covered, it's still going to be a very long day (thinking) no scratch that a long ass weekend. (Bouncing in place a few times to settle her gear) Monday night, rounds are on me, I'll just send corporate the dam bill (patting him on the shoulder.)

0845
Claire's Office
Zara (had laid out the folders on the long table, color coded of course; she also had last nights reports stacked and organized; hearing the knock, she peeked up to see Lowery in the doorways, she should have shut and locked the dam doors, it wasn't that she didn't want to see Lowery it was she didn't want to see anyone at the moment): Lowery, morning, I've got your stuff and I'm heading out in a bit. (Pausing, looking through the maintenance requests) good catch on the partial number (going back to pulling files, Lowery walked closer) is there something wrong?

Lowery (gathering his thoughts): No just wanted to thank you for the coffee and snacks. (Watching her set more papers on the table) that is a lot of paperwork (noticing the already large pile.)

Zara (turning around, grabbing another folder): You're welcome and this is for the inspection Ms Dearing has this morning. Six months of you name it and then some, maintenance requests and repairs (pulling another folder) paddock repairs, safety checklists (placing it on the ever growing pile), personnel training for the paddocks add that to the list (continuing going through folders.)

Lowery (shaking his head, bluntly): You don't get paid enough for all the work you do, I hope Ms Dearing appreciates the hard work you put in. (Nervously) I mean I'm sure she's...

Zara (going through the list in her head, a moment): Lowery I would like to chat with you for more than a few minutes but I'm pretty swamped. (Biting her lip) this is my job I get compensated very well, Ms Dearing is a wonderful boss (Claire was a fantastic boss, fair, honest, wouldn't ask someone to do something if she wouldn't do it herself) now if you'll excuse me (flipping a few pages over.)

Lowery (understanding): I'll see you later Ms Young (she waved at him, he turned to find Alex storming in) yeah definitely leaving (seeing the look on Alex's face and knowing exactly what it meant, someone had screwed up royally.) Ms Konopsis…

Alex (taking a breath): Morning Lowery, Ms Young I have some information we need to discuss.

Zara (waiting until Lowery left, leaning over Claire's desk, she typed in the code to shut the doors then the secondary code to lock the door): How bad (concern?)

Alex (setting the report on the desk): Not as bad as I originally thought but still pretty bad. I was going to call Claire right away but you're here and I know she's out in the park getting some much needed time off.

Zara (picking up the report): No you did the right thing (remembering what Mr Masrani had said when she was first hired, Claire was the Operations Manager, if something happened to where Claire couldn't perform her duties Zara, herself became acting General Manager, and if she was unable to perform her duties the next person in line would be Alex herself; she silently prayed that would never happen, reading through the report) let's see Stegosaurus, Galliminus, Edmontosaurus (reading through the list) all herbivores, the security locks were out for no more than a few minutes and we lost cameras in those areas again? (Reaching for her tablet, there had been no notification and thankfully no dinosaur had escaped.) How could the locks go down and we didn't get a notification? (Alex shrugged) did any other cameras pick up anything?

Alex (holding her hands out): I checked badges, RF ID's, I checked department and shift and I've got nothing. Vivian went through all the cameras in those areas on grid and we get bits and pieces but nothing definitive.

Zara (pacing): Nothings changed as far as access goes since yesterday (Alex shook her head?) Then what in the bloody fuck is going on? (She was infuriated, this wasn't a coincidence, this was deliberate) we need to get ahead of this and fast.

Alex (letting out a breath): I don't like it one bit, and no matter what we try we get nothing or we get the bits but not the whole piece. (Watching Zara pace) it's like someone's purposely trying to catch us or do something to sabotage something else (she knew whoever it was, that they couldn't take down the whole park if this kept up or so she hoped.)

Zara (thinking): This is deliberate plain and simple, whoever it is they're after something, (Alex gave her a questioning look) sabotage is possible but we don't know what. (Pacing) we have the backups and fail safes (thinking) we're going to take this one step further, go through the employee time off list, deactivate anyone that's not on shift or that's not on the island (Alex nodded) keep transportation opened though.

Alex (glancing at her tablet): Right in the meantime I'll go back try a different query, try a few other ideas, I reset the alert notifications too.

Zara (nodding): I'll be out at the maintenance shed for a bit, Claire's got the safety inspection for the paddocks. Call me first with anything, I don't care if it's a paperclip out of place. (Typing an email to Mr Masrani) I've already sent an email out to Mr Masrani informing him of the developments along with my notes.

Alex (rubbing the back of her neck trying to ease the knot of tension): How did Claire take you going out without an escort?

Zara (chuckling): About as well as you would expect, she even offered to get me a tank and body armor (laughing.)

Alex (laughing): I can see that, and I can see Claire explaining that to Corporate oh Gods that's too much. (Squeezing Zara's shoulder) just be careful all right. I'm going to head back downstairs and get started on how many other people I can piss off today (mischievously) I've never heard so much whining in my life.

Zara (smiling): I know, Claire and I have been fielding a few calls, send them our way if it gets to much (patting Alex's shoulder) and thank you Alex, Claire and I appreciate everything you're doing.

Alex (giving Zara a one armed hug): When things settle down we have to do another bar night, maybe drag Claire along this time (turning and walking out the door.)

Zara (unlocking the doors so Alex could leave then setting the locks again): I'm looking forward to it, first rounds on me. (There was something, something off just out of reach and she couldn't put her finger on it. First things first get Claire's reports ready, head out to the maintenance shed, add the AP and repeater. Noticing the time it was nearing 0900 she hoped Claire was relaxing and enjoying herself.)

Gyro sphere Valley

0915
Claire (listening to Gray's information on the Apatosaurus): And what about the Edmontosaurus?

Gray (excitedly): The Edmontosaurus was found in Alberta Canada, the name means Edmonton Lizard, its a duck billed or Hadrosaurid. A Hadrosaurids is a member of the Ornithischian family, herbivore dinosaurs with bird hipped features meaning their pelvis is backwards.

Zach (recalling some information from the website): An Edmontosaurus could be 11 to 13 meters long and weigh up to 6 tons.

Gray (calling Zach out): No fair you used your phone.

Zach (showing him his phone): No I didn't, I remember reading about them this morning. I just don't read and memorize an encyclopedia before breakfast like you do.

Gray (retorting): I do not (shoving his brother in the shoulder.)

Claire (smiling): No fighting you two (listening to them argue back and forth) it doesn't matter how you learn something, each person learns differently. (Proudly) and good job the both of you, now we'll continue down the valley and have breakfast. (Shifting in her sear) after breakfast, what do you two want to do today, I mean after I get done with the inspection.

Zach (thinking): What time do you think that will be?

Claire (hoping she could be done before 1300 the latest): Hopefully early afternoon (remembering that she had to meet them at the Command Center and get the necessary paperwork as well.)

Zach (wanting to explore the park a bit): Would it be all right if Gray and I explored the park a bit then meet up with you and Zara at the hotel around 5 where we could hang out then go to dinner?

Gray (leaning forward): Or we could go do some fun stuff before dinner and after dinner too.

Claire (a bit disappointed but she understood): I can get you into some behind the scenes stuff, like the nursery or the labs we have the eggs and embryos.

Gray (excitedly): Awesome let's do that, please.

Claire (a little disappointed but she understood): Definitely, and I get it you don't want your boring Aunt hanging around...

Zach (laughed): No that's not it, it's just…

Claire (squeezing his arm): It's all right, I get it, if I were your age and had this massive park to explore I would be doing the same thing.

Gray (excitedly): I want come back here later and do this again.

Zach (wanting to do another trip through the valley again too): Yeah later on, I also want to see the Mossosaurus too.

Claire (listening to them talking, guided the Gyrosphere into the area that would send the Gyrosphere up to the top of the ride): All right, my car's over there, we'll drive over to the small bistro just outside the aviary and have breakfast.

Gray (excitedly hugging her): Can I get pancakes?

Claire (smiling; returning the hug): You can get anything you want, they have great food.

Zach (climbing inside the large SUV): Come on I'm starving (buckling his seat belt) Aunt Claire you're not boring at all.

Claire smiled at that as she started the truck, making sure Gray had his seat belt on she drove towards the aviary, happy that the morning was going so well, the boys were enjoying themselves and grateful that she could spend some time with them, get to know them.

East Part of the Island
0930

Zara (relaxed into the seat, turning the radio up a bit and enjoying the music and breeze blowing into the large truck, she would be at the maintenance shed in about 45 minutes; her phone rang and pressing the button on the dashboard): Zara Young (listening) Mr Masrani good morning, I believe Claire is in the valley with her nephews. (Slowing down) yes we're looking into as we speak, no I'm not in the Command Center I'm actually heading out to one of the maintenance sheds to check into a few issues with some communication problems. (Listening) right, I believe she said after breakfast she was heading back to meet the inspectors. (Taking the bend that led north) yes we decided on restricting further access to those not on the island, and those that are not working for the weekend. (Listening) I believe Ms Konopsis is in her office and has reset the alerts and notifications. Yes sir, thank you, if I hear from her I'll tell her (ending the call. Tapping the screen on the dashboard she looked at the very top number in her phone list, reached to dial it, then shook her head. Calling Claire could wait, Claire deserved the time to relax a bit (or so she hoped Claire was relaxing) and to spend time with her nephews.)

Central Plaza
1015

Claire (pulling alongside the east gate): You two okay from here (a part of her wished she could stay with them, spend some more time with them.) I mean…

Zach (undoing his seat belt): We're good, thanks for this morning, Aunt Claire we had a great time.

Gray (leaning forward): Thanks Aunt Claire.

Claire (smiling): I'm glad you enjoyed yourselves. What are your plans?

Zach (thinking of what he wanted to do first): We're going to see the Mossosaurus, check out the T Rex then get some lunch and head back out to the Gyrosphere.

Claire (having an uneasy feeling): Listen, just call me before you go back up to the Gyrosphere ride, let me know how things are going, please.

Zach (conceding): All right, all right, if it'll make you feel better, I'll call you every half an hour on the hour (teasing.) Good luck with the inspection Aunt Claire.

Claire (laughing shoving him playfully): It would (waving) go on have fun (they exited the vehicle and she turned the truck around, heading for the Raptor paddock, she needed to talk to Owen Grady and have him meet her at the Indominus Rex Paddock.

Innovation Center
Dr Wu (passing through the doors, he looked around through the throng of visitors when he spotted Hoskins standing off to the side speaking to Dr Soren; walking over quickly; his voice low): I take it everything is well in hand?

Hoskins (nodding): Yes completed it last night. (Shivering) that thing gave me the creeps, it's not like no dinosaur I know or heard of. What is that thing?

Dr Soren (proudly): She is not a thing, she is a hybrid dinosaur, the first and only of her kind….

Dr Wu (placing his hand on her shoulder, he didn't want her to reveal to much to Hoskins): Regardless of thoughts or feelings (glancing between the both of them) the device is set up and working. In a matter of hours we'll be able to get the research and study completed. Our employer will be extremely happy with the results.

Hoskins (looking around): That's all well and good, you get your research and your tests (pointing his finger) but I want to know when do I get paid?

Dr Wu (smiling): Tonight, the money will be transferred into the account you specified. (Looking between Hoskins and Dr Soren) as of now this concludes our business. Good day Mr Hoskins (dismissing him as he watched him leave he looked around again nervously) Dr Soren you said you wanted to show me something (wanting to go back to the lab, he had a very busy afternoon ahead of him.)

Dr Soren (nodding): Yes it's about the sequencing, some unexpected results, unexpected but very welcome. I believe this will also put us ahead of schedule with the next set of hybrids.

They walked towards the lab unaware that they had been watched by Alex and Alex herself wondered what that was all about, whatever it was something wasn't right. What was Hoskins, doing with Dr Wu and Dr Soren? Hoskins job as far as she knew was to supervise security procedures and paddock safety? She had an uneasy feeling about the whole thing, maybe she needed to look at his access as well for the past couple of days.

Maintenance Shed

1030
Zara checked the security pad and found it intact, nothing seemed amiss, swiping her badge and entering her code she pushed the door open and entered the building. The automatic lights turned on and she glanced around, before stepping further inside. Her heels clicked loudly on the metal treads of the steps, stepping on the catwalk and heading for the punch down terminal she kept glancing around, looking for anything that might be amiss, loose or broken cables, but found nothing.
Zara (opening the large metal box): Let me see, Lowery said there should be an open slot of some sort (grabbing her flashlight and shining it on the large panel) that's weird (reading over the diagram on the side panel) that doesn't (grabbing her phone, dialing the number) Lowery, yes I'm here, however the diagram you printed and the one on the side of the panel don't match (listening) yes even if it were reversed it still doesn't match (glancing at the side panel then the paper diagram.) There's more than a few open slots (looking at the paper again) right I see the Cat 5 and 6 cables, the RJ45 and some fiber optic like you said (listening) they don't match up to the correct slots either. (Sighing) yeah I can put the repeater in the open slot, that's not an issue, the issue here is this isn't the way its supposed to be set up. (Reading over the notes and diagrams) no I'll tell Claire, good schedule it Monday afternoon preferably. (Biting her lip) I'll take a few pictures and send them to you, right (ending the call. She held the flashlight and snapped a few pictures, then grabbed the small box and pulled out the repeater, the hand tools and Lowery's notes. They would definitely have to get maintenance out here on Monday and go through the panel wire by wire.) Whoever rearranged this is going to get their bloody arse handed to them (grumbling.)

Raptor Paddock
Claire (slamming the door of the SUV and heading into the small office just off to the side; she saw Barry and smiled; walking over to him): Hi Barry, how are you?
Barry (unlike Owen he was always glad to see Claire for he didn't fear that she would take his head off): Claire good to see you, what can I do for you?

Claire (glancing around): Owen around (Barry chuckled) yes I have to talk with him (remembering the few run ins and incidents she had, had with Owen) unless he's done something to piss me off I'll leave his head on his shoulders (Barry laughed.)

Barry (laughing): Keeps him on his toes and he should be at his place (smiling.) We did a short training session because of the heat. (Claire's questioning look) the raptors were more restless than usual. He wasn't going to cause them any further distress. (Concern) everything all right, can I help you?

Claire (patting his arm): No, no worries, Mr Masrani wants me to talk to him about the new paddock and get his opinion (Barry arched his eyebrow) I know his head won't be able to fit through the dam door (mischievously) unless I take it off first (Barry laughed again) or make him think I will (turning to leave feeling Barry's hand on her arm) sorry what's up.

Barry (releasing her): Claire, this may not mean anything but I'm a little concerned and so is Owen. A couple of times Hoskins has been seen talking with Dr Wu and Dr Soren, its probably nothing but it doesn't make any sense to me either. (Thinking) I know he's part of In Gen but I don't know (waving his hand.)

Claire (considering): That is a little weird, why would Hoskins (wondering herself) hes probably asking for his research project, which has been denied by corporate, Mr Masrani and myself, several times in fact. (Pondering over it for a moment) I'll see if I can get a hold of him, see what he has to say. Thanks Barry (turning and leaving the whole thing with Hoskins was unusual, what would he need to talk to Dr Wu for. She would have to get a hold of him, find out what was going on and probably remind him that his request for field research was denied, again.)

Barry (picking up the box of small parts): Maybe I should let Owen know that Claire is on her way (chuckling) no he'll be fine, provided he keeps his hands to himself (laughing.)

Owens Bungalow
1100

Owen set down the ratchet as heard a car, no make that SUV approaching. Owen wasn't expecting visitors, and Barry wasn't expected back until about 1400. Only three other people would come out to see him, one he wanted to punch, another he wanted to hide from and the third (wincing) he wanted to crawl in a hole and stay there. Standing up and swallowing, realizing who it was, his first thought was what did he do to deserve this? His second thought, was to make sure to stay on the far side of the motorcycle and leave plenty of room for him to run. His third thought was who dresses like that on a Saturday in 110 degree heat. Claire Dearing, Operations Manager white suit and heels and a look on her face that spoke volumes. Swallowing he tilted his head and waited, he couldn't think of anything that would have her out here on a Saturday morning, he also knew his reports had been handed in on time, so what was she doing here?

Claire (stepping out of the vehicle, the uneven surface and packed dirt not slowing her down): Mr Grady…

Owen (nervously): Would it kill you to call me Owen?

Claire (frustrated; this man infuriated her, true he was great at his job, he worked hard but he tried her patience just by being himself with the off handed comments): Mr Grady I have a favor to ask (wincing at how that sounded especially to someone like him.)

Owen (eyebrows arching into his hairline, he knew she didn't mean it like that, but he could have fun with this): A favor, Claire, (shaking his head) I'm still waiting for a thank you. (Moving to keep the motorcycle between them as she stepped closer, why couldn't she stay near the truck that was a safer distance.)

Claire (confused): Excuse me, a thank you, for what exactly (she was secretly enjoying his fidgeting.) And will you stay still, I'm here in a professional capacity, not for any other reason.

Owen (proudly): For getting you and your assistant girlfriend together (folding his arms across his chest.) I mean after our disastrous date and all, that's when you two started dating and let me be the first to say you make a striking pair but dammit how does she (pausing, motioning) put up with you.

Claire (wide eyed): Have you, are you, what is wrong with you (loudly?)

Owen (smirking, he had her riled up): Listen (holding out his hand) I know you have to keep things quiet because of corporate (enjoying this little banter between them) but admit it after our disastrous date you ended up with her. Did you run to her or did she come and comfort you? It's been over a year and a half, (waving her off) you know what, no details, just a thank you.

Claire (groaning this is why she usually sent Zara to talk with him, get his reports and deal with any immediate requests, she found him to be immature with his mind in the gutter): I think the sun and heat is getting to you.

Owen (enjoying the banter): Me thinks the lady thou protesteth to mucheth…

Claire (pulling out her phone): And I think you need medical treatment (pulling up her contact list.) You're clearly delusional, or (flatly) something.

Owen (chuckling): I still don't understand it, (she gave him a questioning look) I heard opposites attract, but wow there's you (motioning) and there's, well she's fun, participates in dress down days, joins people for a few drinks where as you…

Claire (gritting her teeth): That is enough Mr Grady (she was definitely going to kill him.)

Owen (razzing her): All I'm asking is for a thank you for putting you two together after you ditched me on our date (folding his arms across his chest.)

Claire (firing back): You showed up in board shorts, you were several shots of tequila in by the time I got there and you clearly made no effort what so ever. Ms Young and I are very good friends (he made a scoffing noise) clearly your idea of a date was extremely casual, boorish and inappropriate.

Owen (retorting): Wow, you are wound way to tight lady (backing up as he noticed her temper flaring) and who brings an itinerary to a date, even if it's just dinner and nothing more would come of it.

Claire (angrily): I'm organized, I thought having a plan for that evening would make it…

Owen (chuckling): More efficient, (pointing) no that's makes you…

Claire (threatening): Finish that sentence and I'll (figuring out which dinosaur she would feed him too) and Zara doesn't mind my itineraries (seeing his eyes widen as he covered his mouth) don't even think about it (pointing her finger at him.)

Owen (holding his hands up; retorting): I give her a lot of credit do you (she stalked towards him, holding his hands up in surrender) don't do something you'll regret (laughing) I still say you owe me a thank you, that's all. You need to calm down and relax, wow (whistling.) Maybe I don't know (looking around) make an itinerary for a day off, (seriously) all that stress and over planning isn't good for your heart you know.

Claire (glaring): My health is perfectly fine…

Owen (questioning): Yeah I'm sure it is (glancing at her, she was pale, stiff, no nonsense and seriously needed a day off or two, he could see it.) Anyway what is it you need?

Claire (unamused): I asked if you could do me a favor (seeing his smirk) work related, will you please get your mind out of the gutter. Focus on the task at hand Mr Grady (watching him as he went back to working on his motorcycle.)

Owen (tightening a few bolts): I am, I've got a stuck throttle line (adjusting another bolt) so tell me what this work related favor is (not seeing her pick up his keys.)

Claire (biting her lip): I would like you to meet me at the Indominus Rex paddock and give me your professional (enunciating the words) professional opinion on the asset and the enclosure.

Owen (popping his head up): See there's the problem, to you they're assets on a spreadsheet (her disbelieving look) they're animals, animals Claire (standing.)

Claire (straightening her shoulders): I know that, I understand that…

Owen (seriously): I don't think you do and I think whatever that thing is in there isn't a dinosaur. They cooked up something in the lab, something that takes pleasure in terrifying people (Claire's questioning look) I heard about what it did, when your guard was down, slammed into the glass. (Swallowing) what is that thing, Claire?

Claire (taking a moment): It's a genetic hybrid, years of research….

Owen (feeling uneasy): You don't know do you (shaking his head) what type of park are you running lady (disbelief?) That thing scared three professionally trained ACU Officers, the Security Guard and stared down your assistant, like a predator hunting its prey.

Claire (feeling a heavy weight all of a sudden, remembering the incident, remembering how it seemed to almost take pleasure in terrifying people): It was an isolated incident, nothing further happened (his look of disbelief.) And Jurassic Work is, we have one of the highest safety records in the industry, we (thinking recalling the information on the spreadsheets) we have the highest guest/visitor satisfaction rates in the industry and we have the highest retention rate in the industry as well.

Owen (challenging her): What about the animals? What about their happiness and safety (her questioning look?) Animals regardless of the age, species, type, have basic needs? You know food, shelter, social skills, um (motioning with his hands) you know (making another motion with his hands.)

Claire (flatly): Procreation…

Owen (clearing his throat): Yeah that (pointedly) I'm sure, (teasing her) well not 100% sure I think you can relate to at least one of those things (a cold glare.) Yeah um…

Claire (she was going to strangle him): I know all that, I understand that, (considering other facts) and I also know socialization skills are very important with any animal, it's not like we can take it out for a walk in the park or invite it over for tea and a play date (she had to admit that the Indominus Rex made her feel uneasy.)

Owen (seriously): You know that, you read about it, you see it with other dinosaurs. (Pointing) that thing in there doesn't know anything other than the crane means food. That makes it dangerous, that makes it unstable and that is where you should be very concerned Claire.

Claire (folding her arms): Will you meet me at the paddock and give me your opinion?

Owen (not wanting to and not because of her, he wanted nothing to do with that animal): Will you tell me thank you at least?

Claire (smirking mischievously): No but I'm sure you want these so I'll see you at 1145 (turning on her heel and getting in her truck.)

Owen (confused; looking around): Shit those are my keys (he saw the taillights) I need those you know (laughing) she outplayed me, she fucking outplayed me (groaning, he would have to call someone to give him a lift because he was not walking in this heat.)

East Road

1130
Claire (reading the caller id, hitting the button): Claire Dearing (listening) I was out of range. Yes, that's good right. What about the deadline? Sure I can fax those over to the office Monday, yes. (Slowing to go around the bend) well I'm meeting Mr Grady at 1145 at the paddock. I was planning to spend the afternoon with my nephews (deflated breath) I'll be there once I finish up, all right thank you (ending the call and seeing another call coming in, smiling at who it was) hey you okay?

Zara: Fine (static) waiting for (more static.)

Claire (frustrated): Zara (nothing) Zara let me call you back when I get into more open space (nothing but static, they really needed to get that fixed. She just hoped Zara was okay.)

Maintenance Shed

1130
Zara grumbled and went back to checking the download patch and updates. She tried sending a message to Claire but the message didn't go through. Shaking her head she began pacing, she wanted to get this done and get out of here. Her phone chirped and she saw a message from Alex saying that she wasn't getting a badge read or RF ID read from the security pad. She hit the resend button and the message went through finally cursing, the signal was lost again, the signal from here was intermittent at best.)

East Road

1135
Claire listened to Zara's message, as she did slowed as she came to the crossroad that would take her back around to the paddock areas or if she continued north she could head up to the maintenance shed and check in on Zara, get eyes on the situation. She had been having an uneasy feeling on and off all day, granted Zara could more than take care of herself, but she had no security escort with her and with everything going on she wanted to be sure her partner was all right. Tilting her head back she grumbled in frustration, she sat for a moment her heart and her head having a silent battle, taking a breath, considering, she turned the truck left and headed towards the paddock area, she could always drive up after, if Zara was still out there working. They could spend a little time together after they finished up of course. First things first, the Indominus Rex paddock. She would come to regret the decision later, much later when everything would go horribly wrong.

Command Center

1140
Mr Masrani (knocking on Alex's open door): Good morning Ms Konopsis (stepping into her office, noticing the usual organized chaos that was the head of IT.)

Alex (standing; this was unusual): Mr Masrani good morning. What can I do for you?

Mr Masrani (motioning): No need to be so formal I just would like a further explanation of what's going on in my park?

Alex (taking a breath): Would you rather speak to Ms Dearing or Ms Young…

Mr Masrani (shaking his head): No, I already have all the details from the pages of emails that Ms Dearing has sent me. (Looking at the flurry of activity on the mounted screens) I also have a copy of Ms Young's notes, (pausing) I would like you to further explain what's going on as you are the head of IT.

Alex (leaning back, setting a few reports to the side): Mr Masrani we have had several instances, in several areas of the park at various hours where we have security locks going down, unauthorized access attempts, cameras going offline. The other issue which is most certainly related is there is no record of who it is, no badge id, no RF ID, no trace.

Mr Masrani (listening): I also heard that no notifications were sent out (wondering about that himself.)

Alex (grabbing another report): Completely bypassed the alert system, even if Ms Young or Ms Dearing didn't get an alert I most certainly would, which I would then notify them.

Mr Masrani (reading the notes on his phone): That is why with a few exceptions all badge access was restricted with the exception of food, transportation or other work related necessities (Alex nodded.)
And you still haven't found out the person or persons behind this or why or what they might be after?

Alex (pulling up the query results): We have several theories and have set up further alerts based on those parameters but we've gotten nothing so far.

Mr Masrani (shrugging; he knew he could count on his people and believed that things were well in hand): Then I believe that we're doing everything we can and things will be fine…

Alex (he didn't seem to get it): Sir, with all due respect I don't think it's that simple. (Taking a moment) I believe this is a deliberate attempt by someone to bypass something important or vital, it could cause an issue with any of our systems and that could put people in unnecessary danger.

Mr Masrani (confident): And that is why the alerts, notification and restriction are in place. Worst case scenario Ms Konopsis is that we cancel a few tours, a few rides, keep people near central plaza. (Motioning) we have the highest safety record in the industry, the park is designed with fail safes and backups. (Leaning forward) you remind me a little of Claire as you both worry to much about potential problems, you're both excellent employees but you both need to relax.

Alex (took a breath, she had tried he didn't seem to get it): There's also issues with the comm system at the north end of the park….

Mr Masrani (nodding): I know, I've already scheduled maintenance for that on Monday. It's near the old park and the building and equipment in there is a little old, so we'll do an update and it'll fix the issue. (Standing) you're doing a great job things will be fine and we'll revisit this all on Monday.

Alex (standing): Mr Masrani…

Mr Masrani (putting his hand out): Don't worry we have everything in place, the park numbers are up, I have the best people on the job for this (shaking her hand.) It'll be fine, in fact I'll buy everyone lunch today, and things will work out (waving his hand and heading out the door.)

Alex (sat back down; she hit the stop button on the phone, as a precaution she had recorded the conversation): I hope you're right Mr Masrani, I hope you're right (she didn't have a good feeling about any of this, any of this at all) because from my perspective, there is something seriously wrong with the whole situation (based on her experience and knowledge she knew and she hoped she was wrong, that someone was doing something that could cause a whole host of problems.)

Indominus Rex Paddock
1145

Claire (leaning against the large SUV; Owen was late, true she had taken his keys but, hearing the sound of a truck coming up the road she straightened up, grabbed her tablet and waited): Mr Grady…

Owen (stepping out of the maintenance truck): I had to get a ride because someone stole my keys Ms Dearing (pointedly.)

Claire (holding up his keys): It's not stealing if I give them back to you (holding out his set of keys.)

Owen (taking the keys from her hand): Semantics Ms Dearing, now then let's go take a look at this thing that was cooked up in the lab.

Claire (rolling her eyes): Asset, (correcting herself) Indominus Rex, which is over 6 and a half meters high, 15 meters long and weighs in at just over 8 tons and she's…

Owen (shaking his head): Larger than a Tyrannosaurus Rex, (tapping his chin in thought) I also heard she ate her sibling, (shaking his head) never mind don't answer that. (Watching her for a moment) I also know that when you say Tyrannosaurus Rex it's a Tyrannosaurus Rex not a souped up hybrid that you really know nothing about.

Claire (swallowing hard): I do know that's its base DNA is of the T Rex…

Owen (not liking this one bit): And you know nothing else about it, (thinking) when you asked you got access denied, confidential, from corporate and right there in lies the problem Ms Dearing. The labs don't want you to know even though you should. (Pausing) so lets go see the Indominus Rex and then I can go back to my bungalow and stay as far as away as I can from that thing. Because that's the best option for everyone, keep your dam distance.

Claire (turning and walking over to the access pad, swiping her badge and entering her code, neither she nor Owen saw the small black device underneath it): Authorized access only with an escort.

Owen (scoffing): That'll be interesting telling a dinosaur unless you have an escort, special badge and a code you can't go anywhere (smirking) it's like using a soup can to hold back Niagara Falls Ms Dearing.

Claire (ignoring him): The enclosure is the most safety advanced design in the industry with concrete steel reinforced epoxy re-bar walls, the upper portion of the enclosure is lined with 50, 000 volts of electricity and reinforced steel netting.

Owen (looking around): That's good and none of the doors or gates can be opened without a badge or code (she nodded, well that was a step in the right direction but not enough.) What about training for personnel?

Claire (glad that he was at least listening): A few people are trained and authorized, obviously Dr Wu, Dr Soren, the two security officers, myself, Ms Young ACU Captain Blane and Mr Masrani (slowly climbing up the stairs) the glass is reinforced, able to stop a 50 caliber bullet (coming to the top of the stairs) Officer Becker good morning.

Officer Becker (nodding): Morning Ms Dearing, Mr Grady, everything all right.

Claire (smiling): I'm just getting Mr Grady's professional opinion on the enclosure and the Indominus Rex (turning and facing the reinforced glass.)

Owen (concern, he couldn't see that Indominus): Where is it?

Claire (stepping to the glass window): In the trees (looking at the terminal, confusion...)

Officer Becker (turning around): It's in there probably behind that large tree…

Owen (questioning): Where is it? In the basement, the rec room perhaps. (Stepping closer to Claire) I don't see it (he had a sinking feeling in his gut.)

Claire (worried): That's strange, Officer has anyone been in here recently?

Officer Becker (shaking his head; checking the readings again): No one but the scientists, the doors haven't been opened in weeks and the main gate hasn't been opened at all.

Claire (shaking her head): Shit (typing in a command on one of the thermal imaging consoles and activates it. A scan is performed and then the readout "No Thermal Signature Found" as a warning sounds she turns and goes to another terminal the same results) it's not being picked up on the scanners. The scanners are not detecting any body heat inside the paddock, it isn't showing up (she feels a wave of nervousness run down her spine.)

Officer Becker (standing up): I'm telling you there's no way…

Owen (pointing slowly): Those claw marks (taking a breath) where did they come from (nervously.)

Claire (feeling her head swim for a moment; taking in the claw marks reaching to the very top of the paddock): It has an implant that can be tracked, I'm heading back to the Command Center. Don't open any doors and don't go in there.

Command Center

1205
Vivian (answering the phone): Vivian, Command (listening, wide eyed, jumping up, snapping her fingers) Lowery (typing in the commands) pull up the Indominus Paddock (looking at her screen) paddock 19, Sasha (stepping forward) pull up the cameras for that area and review them.

Lowery (noticing her nervous tension): Right um, what am I looking for?

Vivian (leaning over): The Indominus isn't showing up on the thermal scanners.

Lowery (disbelief): It's in that paddock, I know it is, no way it could get out (hearing Claire yelling instructions) it's in the paddock.

Vivian (yanking the phone away from her ear): Are you sure?

Sasha (reviewing the footage): I don't see anything (correcting herself) no doors have been opened.

Lowery (rerunning the scan): I'm positive, I've got the gate logs up, it's still in the paddock.

Vivian (rubbing her face): Claire, right…

Mr Masrani (walking into the control room): What's wrong?

Vivian (typing in commands, leaning over Lowery's computer): The Indominus it's not showing up on thermal detection, gate logs show they haven't been opened and oh shit (dropping her phone.)

Lowery (grimacing): It's definitely not in the paddock (shaking his head this was bad, this was very bad.)

Sasha (wide eyed): Who opened the door?

East Gate
Claire (slamming on the brakes and parking the truck): What, what's going on (listening her eyes widening?) I'm on my way in now (ending the call and rushing to the Command Center.)

Labs
1215
Dr Wu (setting in front of his terminal screen): If you won't open the door for me then (smiling wickedly) I'll just open it myself (smiling and waiting for the program to run and activate the release button on the doors.)

Maintenance Shed

1230
Zara (taking a sip of her water): There that's done and (hearing the dashboard beeping, leaning over she saw the dashboard flashing red) what the (reading the message display) bloody fucking Hades (the message read Code 19 which meant asset out of containment, (waiting for the next brief message reading the words she grabbed onto the door handle of the truck; the Indominus Rex was out of containment. Yanking open the door she needed to get back to the Command Center and wait for further instruction from Claire. She knew all of the policies and protocols and she hoped the ACU officers still on duty could put a stop to that thing before it got any further in the park. First things first they had to get the rides shut down and people back to Central Plaza first and foremost.

Labs

1235
Dr Wu (standing): There we'll now have the research and money we need (grinning as the Indominus Rex tore through the gate enclosure, carving a destructive path in its wake as it moved East towards the valley, laughing gleefully. He could already picture his new lab design and the work that he would begin doing, without answering unnecessary questions to people who didn't fully appreciate the science and his work.)

Command Center

1240
Claire (leaning over a terminal): We have ACU officers en-route we need to (running through all the protocols in her head, glancing around) we need to...

Mr Masrani (firmly): Capture it quietly, keep things quiet, nothing more than an isolated incident (looking around the room as people looked at him.) Keep the channels open except for medical, prioritize traffic for the ACU team then medical.

Vivian (typing in the latest set of commands): Security and Parks has been notified, they're on standby waiting for assist.

Claire (nervously): Its heading East, we need to stop it, the park has over 27,000 visitors today. (Glancing at Vivian) close all rides north of the plaza and get the visitors back in. Send the alert for Code 19, escaped asset.

Vivian (adjusting her microphone): This is a park wide alert, code 19, asset out of containment, I repeat code 19 asset out of containment. All rides at the north and east end of the park are shut down effective immediately. All visitors and employees are to return to central immediately (hitting another button.)

Claire (patting her shoulder): Lowery, Franklin, Renee, Sasha standby for Phases 1 through 4 (Mr Masrani touched her arm) just setting up for further instructions.

Mr Masrani (firmly): Relax Claire, this is what ACU is trained for, if word gets out, if we use live ammunition to take to down the Indominus Rex, the press will have a field day and you know what will happen (looking at Claire knowingly.)

Claire (not liking it one bit, but she knew the truth): We would never reopen (this is what it came down to sadly, the park, profits and the reality of it all settled on her shoulders like a leaden weight. Leaning forward, she closed her eyes for a moment praying they would capture the Indominus without further incident but the gnawing uneasy tension only grew and she bit her lip and forced herself to face this head on. She couldn't no wouldn't make the same decision as her boss) sir we have to think of the visitors and employee safety (squaring her shoulders.)

Mr Masrani (glancing up as Alex came in): Claire this park is predicated on safety, we will keep this quiet, ACU will do its job and the Indominus will be back in its paddock.

Lowery (leaning back): All rides have been shut down, visitors and employees are returning to central.

Sasha (grumbling): With the exception of one Gyrosphere in the valley.

Claire (leaning over the monitor): Pull up the camera feed (waiting, realizing who it was, her stomach lurched, grabbing her phone she dialed quickly) Zach (walking away so she couldn't be overheard) Zach listen to me, I need you to pull over and wait for Zara. I'm going to have her come and get you. (Listening) just stay where you are, it's nothing much just a dinosaur out of its enclosure (her words sounding hollow even to her.) I'm going to call Zara now you just stay put okay (taking a breath she ended the call, quickly dialing Zara's number) babe, listen I know and it's (nervously) it's the Indominus (softly) where are you? I need you to go and get Zach and Gray, they're in the Gyrosphere valley. (Softly) Zara I love you, be careful, once you pick up Zach and Gray get back here as soon as you can (fighting tears) I need you to be safe all right (ending the call. Noticing Alex walking towards her) can you…

Alex (holding up her tablet): Already have both their trackers up, Claire, Zara's probably 20 minutes out, that is if she's not speeding, which she probably is and if your nephews stay put. She should have them in under 15 and back here within 30. (Noticing how Claire was fighting to hold it together) it'll be okay Claire (squeezing her shoulder) Masrani's got ACU on the Indominus, everyone is returning to central (feeling Claire's nervous tension along with her own) in through your nose out through your mouth. That's it, easy, just easy (waiting for a moment) we'll get through this Claire.

Claire (closing her eyes for a moment): Thanks Alex, you're right with Zara on the way to pick up the boys and protocol being followed all we can do is wait.

Alex (nodding): Now let's get back over there before anyone notices we're gone (guiding her boss back to the terminals) or before Lowery starts rumor (grinning.)

Claire (agreeing): Yeah we don't need rumors on top of this mess.

Rumors would be the worst of her problems in the coming hours. Little did Claire know that Jurassic World would come crashing down around her shoulders and she would lose almost everything.
