Jim and Rick
She loved her job, she loved her family... but just like everyone else, she loved the times she was able to get away from it all. Some people vacation, some people have affairs... Johanna Beckett read. Her guilty pleasure - crime novels. In a Hail of Bullets was an instant hit in her opinion. And so started the Beckett family's connection to Richard Castle.
Never in a million years did Jim think the writer would be here today, standing in front of him, telling him that he was planning on proposing to his daughter. Jim had no objections, of course.
Over the years he had heard many stories about Richard Castle - many through written publications, that portrayed him as a playboy... a heartbreaker. But he'd heard many more from his daughter, painting a picture of the man that was anything but.
From what she had told him over the years, Richard Castle was a man she could trust. A man who had her back, time after time. He was there when she needed him and would, begrudgingly, give her space when she asked. He had witnessed, with his own eyes, this man dive in front of a bullet for her. And he saw the regret that plagued him when his attempt to save her from that bullet had been unsuccessful.
This was a man who pushed her... pushed her to dig deeper. To try harder. To act quick but think quicker. To live without remorse and love without hesitation.
This was a man who helped her rebuild her life, to move on from her mothers death, when Jim had failed her in that aspect.
So no... he had no objections to this man promising himself to his daughter forever.
Welcome to the family.
