The Hunger Games: Victors Retold

Inspired by The Victor’s Project by Oisin55 and Tales of the Hunger Games by Christian Blanco, The Hunger Games:Victors Retold tells the stories of all 75 victors of the Hunger Games, both canon and non-canon. Most chapters are around 500 words, which is perfect for any Hunger Games fans looking for a quick look into the archives of Panem.

8. Eliot Pirant

The games won by Eliot Pirant are believed to have included the first of the now infamous 'Career' groups, consisting of both tributes from districts 1,2 and 4.

Excelling in combat from a young age, it is believed that Eliot had been training for the games since their inception, when he was 9 years old. Then, after trusting that he was fully prepared at 17, he volunteered for a 14-year old boy in order to take his chance at earning perpetual glory.

On the way to the Capitol, Eliot discussed strategy with his district partner, Agata, and the tributes from One and Four, who all agreed that they should ally, seeing as their districts were the only ones to have produced multiple victors. They began to develop a friendship and got along well, to the disapproval of the Capitol.

As the games began, the group sprinted to the middle of the arena, guarding the pile from everybody else. As most tributes had realised or even been advised that they needed to get a weapon in order to survive, all but two tried to dodge the waiting careers and grab something sharp, and all died trying, apart from the sly boy from District 12 who managed to slip in and grab a kukri.

A record fifteen tributes fell in the duration of the bloodbath, all of which kills split between the six team-members, who then divided themselves into duos to hunt down the remaining three.

The pair from 1 easily tracked down and killed the girl from 8 who stayed curled up in a ball even as the duo's knives plunged into her. Eliot and Agata rapidly slaughtered the boy from District 5, who, due to being unarmed, barely even put up a fight.

However, the District 4 allies faced bigger problems against the boy from District 12.He was incredibly skilled with his weapon, managing to dodge blows from both before whipping around and slashing the throat of the male. The remaining female managed to spear him in the throat and reduce the competitors to just those in her group, before coming to the realisation that she had a kukri embedded in her abdomen.

The group of five assembled for the final free-for-all that would decide the victor of the 8th Hunger Games. The girl from 4 was first to fall, putting up a good fight and injuring the boy from 1, but her wounds were too much to bear. She was quickly joined in death by the person that she attacked, his district partner taking advantage of the distraction to stab him in the back.

Eliot let the two remaining girls fight each other instead of risking death, watching as they both managed to land some serious hits on each other. As Agata's hand was sliced off by the vicious District 1 girl, he rushed into the battle and simultaneously thrust a knife in both of their necks, killing them instantly and leaving him as the sole victor.

The District 2 boy was credited with the creation of the career pack upon returning home. He decided to name the groups he founded this way due to the rumours that he had been training for the games his entire life, or rather that being a tribute was his career. The bloodthirsty packs inspired by Eliot's victory won an incredible 22 Hunger Games during the period of the 9th to 74th, meaning that this magnificent combination of tributes from districts 1,2 and 4 were responsible for 1/3 of the victors of the remaining Games.
