I honestly don't know where this came from. But here it is.
My Name is Peter Parker. Once, I heard someone say that in every alternate universe out there, there's a Peter Parker, or a version of me…? him…? us? It must have been my physics teacher in my first year of high school. The Multiverse Theory, kinda cool. Regardless, this is my tale, of how I, Peter Parker, this universe's version of me, the Spider-Man, went on to become a member of the Justice League. So, where do we start this journey of being a Hero in a world that has the likes of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and the Justice League?
A few months after I'd gotten my powers seems the best place to start, when I was fifteen, it's where my journey to join the Justice League really began for me, but I didn't join until much later. Gives you the chance to see everything I went through up to this point in my life, I'll try not to leave too much out.
So, if you know anything of the other universal Peter Parker's you probably know about the Spider that bit me, giving me the powers of a Spider. I hope anyway, it'd be lonely if I was the only Spider-Man out there, here's hoping I get to see if the Multiverse Theory is real one day. For me, it might have been a little different, but we'll get to that later.
Even after several months of being a Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, I was still swinging around New York in a homemade costume, doing my best for the little guy.
Around this time, money was tight in the old Parker residence, especially after Uncle Ben Died and the weekly allowance I got didn't even cover the materials for my web shooters. Aunt May did her best, but it was probably time I thought about getting some work to help out, being a Hero wasn't exactly a profitable gig, or I just didn't know the right people.
I've done a lot of dumpster diving and scavenging parts to get where I am today. I'm not proud of it, but it is what it is. I was nowhere on the level of the renowned Heros the world had to offer, there were still people out there who thought I was a menace, or even worse, a criminal. J. Jonah Jameson probably had something to do with that, my biggest Fan.
Regardless I was doing my best, always striving to take up the responsibility that my powers brought. I wouldn't be able to meet Uncle Ben again with my head held high if I didn't.
But enough about that, let's start with the day I met a real Superhero.
- Forest Hill Queens -
- 2010 - July 5th -
"Peter? Are you down there?" May's voice called down into the cellar. "I made breakfast, your favorite, wheat cakes" Stepping down the steps she looked down into the cellar and smiled lightly to herself. There was her nephew, fifteen years old and one of the smartest people she knew, he had a bright future ahead of him. Her nephew was asleep on the cellar floor surrounded by old boxes of his parent's belongings.
May had to wonder just how he had managed to keep his identity secret for so long, as he was currently sprawled out on the cold concrete floor dressed for his after-hours extracurricular activities. A red sleeveless hoodie with a small black spider emblem at its center, a blue sweatsuit underneath, a pair of fingerless black and red gloves, and red boots. Beside him was a red ski mask with goggles attached to the eyes.
Her nephew was the so-called vigilante, Spider-Man.
She knew even before he had confided in her with the truth. The number of times he had turned the laundry pink in the last few months, the sudden change in his attitude and demeanor, his secrecy and lateness, the unexplainable injuries. She knew something was up and it wasn't hard to put two and two together to figure that her nephew had become a Hero. Of course, it scared her to see him out fighting crime, luckily, from what she knew, they were just petty crooks of New York not the likes of Super Villains the Heroes across the world seemed to deal with. The same hero's that Peter looked up to, and strived to be like.
But she knew Peter to be strong, resilient, to use his smarts to overcome any adversary he came up against, and had the heart to make the right choices with the responsibility that he had undertaken, given to him by his newly acquired power. She just hoped that what he was doing, he was doing it for him, that he was happy.
"Peter." May called out as she crouched down beside the teen, shaking him by the shoulder. "Wake up, you'll catch a cold sleeping down here." The teen roused, his eyes blinking open as he smiled up at her.
"Hey, Aunt May." Peter greeted, sitting up. "Sorry, I got in late and didn't want to wake you." He continued. "I guess I lost track of time going through all this stuff." He added as he looked around at all his parent's boxed-up belongings.
"I made breakfast." May smiled as she stood up, offering her hand to him. "You'll need your strength, you have that field trip today to the museum." Peter nodded as May helped him to stand. "You really shouldn't be out so late on a school night." Peter smiled as she patted his shoulder. "But I'm a cool Aunt, so I'll let it slide."
"You're the best Aunt May."
"I know, now hurry up or you'll be late." She told him as she headed for the stairs, Peter nodded as he gave a soft yawn before looking back to where he had been sorting through the boxes the previous evening. Walking over to a familiar box he pulled out a large glass container, and moved it over to his Uncle's old workbench, placing it a top it.
"Aunt May knows everything already, so I no longer need to keep you hidden." Peter mused aloud to himself as he looked into the glass container, a large web was built inside of it and it took him a second before he located the small spider nestled deep within the web, an array of red and blue in color. The small plaque at the bottom of the casing read: Oscorp.
When he had found the spider case six months ago, he had been searching through his parent's belongings, he didn't know what he had been looking for, nothing in particular. He had just wanted to know more about them. He knew that they had both been scientists that had worked for a subsidiary of Wayne Enterprises, Oscorp, run by his best friend Harry's Father, Norman Osborn.
From what Peter knew, Wayne Enterprises had started to delve into new biological sciences to produce new medicines and vaccines, creating the subsidiary Oscorp in the process. It wasn't news that Oscorp had broken away from Wayne Enterprises sometime after Peter's parent's death, and was now a company all of its own. Run by Norman Osborn and his own enormous wealth funding world-changing projects. Time would only tell how it all worked out.
Even to this day, Peter didn't know exactly what the spider that bit him was, where it had come from or why his parents had it in their possession, stored here of all places. Despite it being years after their death, the spider was still alive. Peter figured that it had somehow been modified to survive long past its natural lifespan. He had found some notes on it among his parent's belongings, but not nearly enough to explain how a bite from it had given him the powers of a spider. He didn't have the facilities to research it as he wanted to properly. He didn't think he'd make it far in the cellar.
"One day I'll figure you out." Peter mused before glaring at the spider. "Don't bite Aunt May... although I'm sure May's not stupid enough to put her hand into a spider cage like me." He added before quickly grabbing a pen and a piece of paper writing - 'Do Not Touch, Spider Inside' - before attaching the note to the glass with a bit of webbing. That should keep any curious hands out.
When Peter had first found the cage among his parent's belongings, he had honestly thought it would be empty and had intended to clean it out and use it as a fish tank, a spider's life span was a rather short one being two years or so, so he never would have expected one to be living inside of it. Where did it even get food from? Regardless, it had bit him and now here he was six months later, doing everything a spider can. Seeing that the spider seemed comfortable in the little light it was getting from the cellar window, Peter headed upstairs to get ready for the day.
Arriving at the museum, Peter could already see his class starting to gather at the bottom of the stairs. A frown came to his face, not seeing Harry yet. Turning his attention to the museum he recalled how he had already been here the previous night, although he hadn't had the time to check out the Greek Exhibit on show since he was dealing with the notorious thief, Black Cat. It wasn't his first run-in with the flirtatious Cat, and he knew it wouldn't be his last, she had gotten away from him again.
Although one thing kept running through his mind at what she had said.
"Wouldn't it be best in my hands than being destroyed, Spider?"
He hadn't understood what she meant by that until he had done some research when he had gotten home. Reports were coming from all across the world about museums with Greek Exhibits being destroyed, nothing was being taken, it was just mindless destruction. So just in case, he had come prepared today. His costume and homemade web-shooters were in his bag. If anything went down he'd ditch the field trip and Spider-Man would make his appearance. If nothing happened, he'd enjoy the exhibit. He really hoped nothing happened.
But there was always that 'Parker Luck'.
Walking over to where his class was gathering, he did his best to stay away from the popular kids, he had been a target of them for years, especially Flash Thompson who currently had his arm around a seemingly annoyed Liz Allan, and regardless of his now supernatural abilities, he was still the Midtown High's poster child for the chess club, despite not actually being a member. Harry still wasn't here yet.
"Alright, I'll give it five more minutes then we'll head on in." The teacher called out as he marked the names of gathered students down on his clipboard. Peter hovered at the back of the class keeping an eye out for Harry, and for that matter any trouble that might be brewing but so far cost was clear, he might make it through the field trip at this rate. Feeling a tap on his shoulder he blinked and glanced over, hoping to see Harry.
"Hi, Pete." This he was not expecting. Standing before him was his blonde childhood friend, Gwen Stacy with her black headband in place. Wearing the uniform of Brooklyn Visions Academy, a dark blue blazer with a knee-length blue and white chequered skirt, the most prestigious science and technology academy in all of New York a unique STEM curriculum... one he dreamed of going to, but couldn't for obvious reasons. There had been a special, once-in-a-lifetime, scholastic contest that he had intended to enter, only instead, he got bit by a spider and was bedridden the week to enter was due and the position had gone to someone else.
"G-Gwen!?" He was honestly stunned to see her, he hadn't seen her since their last day of Middle School which felt almost like a lifetime now after everything he'd been through since. "It's so good to see you."
"You too, did you get contacts?" She questioned surprised not to find him with his usual bulky prescription glasses. Peter simply nodded, as Gwen continued. "How... how are things with you?" She asked with a smile, Peter grimacing slightly as he saw a flood of teens in the same uniform as Gwen, looking over at the two of them with curious looks.
"T-Things are good." Peter nodded, trying to ignore the stares, it's like Gwen didn't even notice them. "What about you, how's Visions Academy?" Peter noticed the light in her eyes dim slightly.
"It's great, honestly it is." She smiled. "Just, without my best friend, it's a little lonely. I could use that bring brain of yours sometimes." She admitted as Peter smiled softly, he should make an effort and reach out to her, just because they went to different schools didn't mean they couldn't be friends, just with his extracurricular activities as of late he hadn't had much free time on his hands meaning it had been months since they'd seen one another.
"We should catch up." Peter assured her making the light come back in her eyes as her smile grew even wider. "Me, you and Harry, it'd be good for all three of us to catch up."
"Ah yeah..." Gwen nodded, growing slightly deflated. "The three of us."
"Parker! Let's move!" Peter looked over to see his class moving up the stairs towards the museum.
"You headed inside?" Peter asked.
"Yeah, school trip we might be a science-focused school, but they still want us to take the mandatory field trips." Gwen smiled. "Save me a spot in the viewing gallery?" She asked hopefully.
"Promise." Peter smiled before he rushed off. Gwen smiled softly to herself watching Peter run up the stairs although she noticed that he didn't join the class, rather staying a few feet behind them, it didn't look like Harry was there.
"Oh, who's the boy?" Gwen tensed as a blush came to her face as she whipped around to see Anya Corazon, her fellow classmate at Visions Academy. Anya was a Latina teenage girl with brown hair and hazel eyes, wearing the same uniform as Gwen. "Is that the famous Peter Parker you told me about, he is cute, not the geeky type you implied him to be, he's got some definition." Gwen quickly covered her friend's mouth with both her hands as she glared at Anya who only had a look of delight in her eyes.
"Shut up!" Gwen huffed removing her hands, but she herself couldn't deny Anya's observation, Peter had certainly toned up compared to when she last saw him, he had been pretty lanky in the past, not any more apparently.
"What, all this time away from him and you're not going to confess your undying love?" Anya continued making kissy faces.
"I said shut up." Gwen growled, regretting ever confiding in Anya about her harboring feelings for her childhood friend. "We're just friends."
"If you say so." Anya shrugged as Gwen glanced back to watch as Peter walked into the museum with his class.
"Come on you two, you'll be left behind." Both Gwen and Anya turned back to see their mutual friend Miles Morales, n African-Latino teenage boy with black hair and brown eyes wearing the male uniform of Visions Academy, waving them over to join the class.
Peter walked around the gallery of ancient treasures retrieved from Greece making a point to dodge any of his classmates, just how had Harry managed to ditch the field trip? Swords, statues, monuments all kinds of art. Sure he wasn't an art enthusiast himself, he could see why Black Cat had an interest in wanting to steal it, not that he was condoning her actions to do so. He'd stop her one day... and hopefully, be able to fight her without blushing beneath his mask. She had to know she was older than him right?
Regardless, he had managed to drive her off last night. Luckily he had actually managed to prevent her from actually taking anything from the museum. There was a first time for everything, she usually nabbed something under his nose. Well in truth, she had every opportunity to steal several artifacts, she had them in her hands after all but had put them back without a fight and only at Spider-Man's asking her to do so. Weird. Maybe she was going straight?
If he did cross paths with her again, he'd have to ask where she got her costume from, his really wasn't cutting it anymore. If he wanted to step up into the true role of a symbol for the people of New York, he couldn't go around dressed like he got his clothes at a thrift store.
But he had to make it very clear, while he was acceptable to the idea of tights, there was to be in no circumstance underwear on the outside of said tights. Superman and Batman may get away with it, but he didn't think he'd be able to pull it off.
Peter was now standing before a monolith from Athens, said to be taken from the Acropolis grounds from what he read from the description plaque.
"Amazing, isn't it?" Peter glanced at the woman standing beside him, a noticeably tall and fair-skinned woman with straight waist-length black hair, blue eyes, and rather broad shoulders. She was beyond attractive to the hormonal teen, with a slender and athletic frame with a well-toned yet muscular build. She wore a rather simple grey pencil skirt suit. "The architecture of an age long since passed, capable of withstanding centuries." Peter turned his attention back to the column.
"Then they bring it halfway across the world for high school kids to gawk at." Peter murumed.
"History should be preserved and learned from." The woman smiled softly. "A lot of what once was is long since gone never to be seen again, we study what we can before it too is gone." She offered him a small smile before she turned and walked away from the teen, Peter didn't know what to make of the strange meeting but couldn't fault her words, considering how young she looked, she had wisdom.
"Who was that?" Peter blinked as he turned to see Gwen approaching, having split from her own class once more to come and speak with him.
"No idea." Peter shrugged. "Someone interested in history I guess, maybe she works here?" He added as he smiled at Gwen who smiled back at him, brushing a loose strand of hair from her fringe back and over her ear. Gwen turned to the display before Peter who did the same.
"So, book report on the history of Greece?" Gwen questioned.
"Something like that." Peter chuckled. "Honestly I think Midtown High had a bit extra on the budget and for academic purposes sent us here. I suspect the real reason is to use up the school budget for tax reasons." He whispered as Gwen smiled and shook her head in amusement before both fell into silence.
"Hows your Dad/Aunt May." Both spoke in unison trying to cover up the awkward silence causing them to both laugh. Peter for one knew her Dad was doing fine, he was chasing Spider-Man nearly every other day, him being her was giving good old Captain Stacy a day off.
"Overworked." Gwen told.
"Sorry."
"It's not like he's chasing you out there." Gwen smiled softly causing Peter to laugh awkwardly, before she reached out and placed a hand on his shoulder, giving him a light squeeze. "I heard about Uncle Ben, I'm sorry I couldn't be there." Peter shook his head as he pulled away from her grip, causing Gwen to frown, he didn't do it intentionally but rather did so instinctively. Growing up with Peter she had learned all too well about the Parker Pride his Aunt May spoke of, Peter had more in him than he cared to admit.
"It's fine." Peter told her, causing her to frown, and decided to drop the subject, it was clearly not something he wanted to discuss, they may not have seen one another in a while but she could still pick up on his moods. She watched as Peter slowly walked, circling a nearby statue, she looked back over to her own class only to see Anya watching them closely. Glaring at the girl Gwen walked after Peter.
"So... any basement experiments I should warn the city about?" Gwen teased causing Peter to tense up as he swung around on her as she winked at him. "Don't think I've forgotten that 'science fair' debacle."
"That was half your fault." Peter laughed as Gwen smiled. "How about you and your fancy new labs?" Peter questioned. "Any world-breaking technology coming from little Gwen Stacy." Gwen pouted at the 'little' comment but simply crossed her arms over her chest as she turned away from him.
"You wouldn't believe what I've been up to, even if I did tell you." Gwen smirked. "Curious, aren't you?" Turning back to look at Peter, she paused, she'd never seen that look on Peter's face before. He was no longer looking at her, instead, he looked as though he was taking in everything around him. His eyes were focused as if searching for something like he himself didn't know what he was looking for. Then his eyes locked on something or rather someone, Gwen followed his gaze and frowned.
There was a woman with long red hair walking up the steps of the museum, already past security but the guards on duty were calling after her to stop and one guard was already down. What drew Gwen's attention was that she wasn't dressed as one might normally dress for a trip to the museum. Instead, she wore a full bodysuit, mostly yellow with a black design showing off her muscular physique beneath. She was drawing the worried attention of several others around her.
"Peter, I think we should..." Gwen turned back to Peter, or where he should have been, but he was nowhere to be seen. Backing away nervously she looked around frantically. "Peter!?" She called out. "Peter!?"
The woman stood at the top of the stairs, looking around with an irritated expression on her face. Four security guards were racing up the stairs before circling around her, all four having drawn their guns and took aim.
"Please boys." Giganta smirked as she pulled out a high-pressure medical injector with a strange glowing green liquid within the attached capsule, before she pressed the end to her arm and pulled the trigger, administering whatever was inside into her body. "I've been shot by tanks!" Giganta suddenly hunched over, as if in pain, but then before their eyes, her body began to rapidly expand. Screams echoed throughout the museum as gunfire followed suit, but the bullets didn't phase the growing woman.
Chaos erupted in the museum as the woman grew to well over forty feet tall, if the museum had been built any smaller, she wouldn't fit inside the building. One footstep and the entire ground shook causing some people to lose balance and fall to the ground.
"Nothing personal." The now booming voice of the woman echoed across the museum, as bullets continued to rain across her form but she wasn't bothered in the slightest by the lead hitting her. "But you're bothering me!" As large as she was, it didn't slow her down much as she reached down swiping with her arm, intending to destroy everything in her path. The Guards bolted, along with several of the museum guests as Giganta grinned manically as she began to create a wave of destruction and debris in her arms wake.
That was before two lines of web shot towards her, branching outward and covering her forearm, slamming it down in place against the ground holding it there causing the woman to growl as her eyes scanned the direction the webbing had come from. Perched upon a wall across the museum was someone dressed in a red and blue crudely made costume as if a child playing hero.
"You're not the one I was expecting!" Giganta shouted ripping her arm up, the webbing held strong for a moment before it snapped allowing Giganta to stand. She dashed across the massive auditorium, the building shaking at its foundations as she reared back and threw her right fist at Spider-Man. "Bring me Wonder Woman!" Giganta's fist blew through the wall as Spider-Man flipped over it, landing on her outstretched wrist.
"If you're looking for a date that badly lady, I'm sure Lady Liberty is more your size! She's a few blocks south on a small island, but she's pretty popular so I don't like your chances!" Spider-Man called out as he dashed up her arm towards her shoulder. "But I gotta ask!-" Spider-Man began as Giganta slapped at her bicep with her left hand without enough force to squash a human body like a bug.
Spider-Man dove forward missing her hand by a few feet before he shot a line of web and zipped onto her left forearm as he webbed her hand to her bicep to keep it there, now directly before her face as her blue eyes glared down at him.
"-Where's a girl your size go shopping? Is it the Gap? I'm in the market for a new costume, any recommendations?" Raising both his hands, he pressed his fingers down onto the web shooters sending webs over her eyes, blinding her.
"GWAH!" Giganta shouted as she stumbled back, her vision blocked by the webbing. Spider-Man frowned underneath his mask, keeping an eye on her footing to make sure she didn't accidentally tread on someone.
"Gotta get her out of the building!" Diving down to the ground, dashing between her legs, he shot one line of the web from one wall atop of the stairs to the other side of the hall making a tripwire, higher than any trip wire should be, but considering her size he figured it'd be fine. He really hoped the city wasn't going to send him the bill for this.
"Move out of the way!" Spider-Man shouted to everyone below the stairs. Luckily, they all listened, seeing the setup of what was going to happen, the crowd began to part in the middle to the sides of the building leaving the hall mostly free. But the trip wire wasn't enough, the webbing snapped as her ankle hit it. Gritting his teeth, Spider-Man used both hands and shot webbing up to zipline himself above the entry to the museum before he turned on the wall and shot more webbing at Giganta's ankles.
With his newly acquired super strength, he pulled, his muscles strained harder than when he once caught a car that drove off the ramp to the Brooklyn Bridge and the webs began to split into tendrils but it was enough, her balance was affected by the slope of the steps causing her to fall back towards the entrance of the museum, towards him. He shot his eyes to the hallway below to make sure it was clear, but there was one person who had been knocked over amidst the chaos of it all.
Gwen.
Spider-Man ran across the wall before diving down to where Giganta was falling, he scooped Gwen in his arms who latched onto him for dear life, before he shot webbing up into an arch, zipping both him and Gwen from the drop zone as Giganta came crashing down, her body crashing into the entrance of the building which toppled down around her. Spider-Man shielded Gwen with his body as concrete dust blew over them.
"You alright?" Spider-Man questioned as Gwen's face was buried in his neck, she nodded as he lowered them to the ground via a web, Gwen releasing her hold on him as she stepped back. "Get to the back of the museum, find another exit, and stay away from the entrance." He urged everyone as he turned hearing the movement of the giantess, seeing Giganta had freed her hand from her bicep and reached up to her face pulling the webbing from her eyes as she began to sit up causing Peter to groan. "Of course, she's not down for the count. Gotta be that Parker Luck." He muttered.
"... Parker Luck...? Peter..? Is that you?" Gwen stated astonished causing Spider-Man to pause as he turned back to Gwen who was within earshot of his muttering or more so right next to him, was he really so stupid as to just ruin his secret identity like that... apparently, he was but right now he had more pressing matters to deal with, being the giant lady. He can berate himself later for being so stupid.
"Go!" Spider-Man shouted at her causing her to nod as she rushed up the stairs along with the other museum attendees to other exits of the building. "Gonna have to wait to deal with that mess." He groaned as he shot a web from each wrist to the now broken edges grabbing the ends of the webs in each hand as he felt them stretch but the tension was still strong. Leaping backward towards the steps, feeling the tension reach its point to where he was struggling to hold it back.
Giganta sat up, her fierce gaze glaring back into the museum which is exactly when Spider-Man released, propelling himself forward feet first, Giganta didn't have time to brace herself, only managing to drop back down to the ground as Spider-Man sailed over her. The moment he was in her vision over her face she reached out, attempting to snatch him from the air but his spider-sense alerted him to the danger. He reached out his hands, webbing hers together before she managed to get him then he landed, skidding across the pavement almost to the street.
Giganta roared as she pulled her hands apart, the webs giving once more and breaking apart, she rolled onto her stomach before pushing herself up into a kneeling position.
"I'm really going to go back to formula in making the webs stronger, she's breaking them like they're wet paper." Spider-Man mentally groaned to himself. "I take it you don't want to call it a day?" He asked as Giganta got to her feet, cracking her knuckles. "I'll take that as a no."
"Take this!" Giganta raised both her fists over her head before slamming them down to the ground, sending a shockwave heading straight for Spider-Man. He leaped over the wave of rubble heading straight for him, landing on a lamppost that trembled as he turned to see the destruction the blast wrought as it hit the street, cars being flung into the air. Luckily everybody had run when Giganta crashed through the entrance to the museum.
"Gotta think of a plan!" Peter thought to himself, flipping backward as Giganta reached for him again, but wasn't so lucky as he had no time to adjust to her open left hand slamming into him, palming him across the museum entrance grounds into the street. He'd never been hit by something like that before. He gritted his teeth as he crashed into a parked car, causing it to fold in on itself around him. Groaning alongside the metal he pulled himself out of the wreckage.
"You're a little handsy, you know that." Spider-Man groaned only for his spider-sense to flare and he looked up only to see a taxi cab flying right for him, having been thrown by the giantess. Leaping forward, he landed atop the roof of the cab before using it as a springboard in mid-air, launching from the cab he cast an arm back sending a web back to the cab attaching it to the trunk before gripping the webbing with both hands and he began to swing it wide.
The cab curved with his webbing and crashed into Giganta causing her to let out a shout as it exploded upon impact, sending a hail of fiery debris over her. It was now or never, he had to stop her now or there was going to be even more destruction, which would undoubtedly be blamed on him. Seeing the wrist of her left arm she had raised to block the car, he shot a web to it, using it to swing around and behind her.
Not releasing the web he landed on the ground, before yanking her wrist back behind her causing her to shout in surprise and pain as Spider-Man's strength was enough to pull her arm back up behind her. Using this, he leaped over her right shoulder before zipping himself back around to her left hip, all the while releasing more web to hold his web line against her tightly. He repeated this several times with the hopes that the extra webbing would hold her arm in place.
Giganta swiped at him several times but his agility was too much for her size, having gotten back to her feet and hadn't realized what he was doing until he was standing on her left shoulder and her left arm was restricted behind her, even with her enhanced strength due to her size, she couldn't break her arm free of the excess webbing and awkward position of her limb.
Glaring out the corner of her eye she raised her right hand, reaching out to grab him, just what Spider-Man was hoping she would do. As the outstretched hand got closer, he used both hands to wrap the webbing around hers before flipping backward off her shoulder and pulling with all his strength causing her to fall back towards him. As her back was coming down, Spider-Man shot webs at her back as many as he could before she hit the ground, attaching them to the ground to hold her down.
Spider-Man leaped out of the way as Giganta crashed down hard, atop the webbing below. The ground trembled and instead of hoping for the best, Spider-Man leaped high above the giant woman only to see her beginning to shrink in size from what he saw, she was unconscious her head having hit the ground hard, whatever it was she had injected herself with looked like it had worn off reducing her size back to normal.
Now that she was back to regular size, Spider-Man aimed his web shooters, shooting webs to pin each of her limbs down to the ground. He landed a few feet from her, looking over his handiwork, other than her torso and head everything else was covered in thick webbing to make sure she wouldn't move. Tilting his head from side to side, he rose his hands again and shot more webs over her torso, leaving only her head free with the rest of her body restricted.
Couldn't be so sure with a giant.
Sirens filled his ears and Spider-Man took a glance around at the absolute destruction and immediately panic set in, he didn't even have time to write a note before the first squad car skidded to a stop out of the ring of destruction Giganta had caused. On reflex, knowing how this went, Spider-Man shot out a zip line back to the museum and shot up into the building, he needed to grab his backpack before swinging away from the scene.
"What the hell was that." Peter groaned as he sat down on the side of a building, setting his bag down next to him. Having managed to retrieve it from the museum before swinging away. Now that the adrenalin had worn off he couldn't believe what he had just gone through, overlooking the museum now a few blocks away as the police were now gathered to set up a perimeter. When the fight had finished and the police cars had arrived, Peter had done what he usually did after the fighting was over, got the hell out of there. Which lead to him missing Wonder Woman appearing on the scene.
It wasn't until he was a few blocks away, perched on the side of a building that he looked back to see the camera crews had gathered and spotted Wonder Woman arriving next to the webbed downed shrunken giant lady, at least the giant lady had gotten what she wanted, Wonder Woman was there. He had honestly considered going back just to meet a member of the Justice League, but what was he supposed to say in that kind of situation?
He'd never had a fight anything like that before, without his spider sense he'd probably be no better than a squashed spider now. Pulling off his mask he hung his head, fighting a giant woman while protecting the museum and everyone inside, just what had his life turned into? Sure he knew about Super Villains, but none had ever shown up in New York, they hit the big spots like Metropolis or Gotham, hell even Central City and Star City, the ones with actual Superheroes. Honestly, it was a little surprising New York wasn't filled with Super Villains considering its size.
"That...-" Peter was on his feet as the deep gruff voice spoke up behind him, the teen ready with his fists up, his spider-sense hadn't alerted him to anything but the fact someone had snuck up on him had freaked him out, he didn't even have the time to put his mask back on, goodbye secret identity, twice in one day. But the two that now stood before him had him stunned. After all, it wasn't every day two members of the Justice League met you on top of a rooftop.
Peter instantly recognized Batman's dark gray costume with the black symbol of a bat spread over the chest, black trunks, gloves, boots, and a black cape along with a black cowl and a yellow utility belt around his waist finishing off the costume.
Then there was the stunningly attractive woman standing beside Batman, Black Canary. With long blonde hair, blue eyes and a slender yet toned build. Wearing a black, one-piece bustier-leotard combination under a blue lapelled jacket, with gray stockings. She wears black, heavy, calf-length boots, black fingerless gloves that go past the elbow to the biceps, and a black choker around her neck.
"-That was good work what you did back there." Batman continued as he walked toward Peter.
"Reckless, but good work." Canary smiled at him from where she stood, hand on her hip which was slightly cocked. "Is it Peter, or Spider-Man?" She questioned with a slightly amused smirk.
"Peter-man… no wait, Spider-Parker!" Dinah's smirk only grew as Peter only seemed to grow more and more flustered. Batman sighed as she stood before the teen. "Peter Parker… but you probably already knew that." He muttered quietly.
"I did." Batman nodded, poking the crudely stitched black spider on Peter's chest. "Interesting idea for a costume. Pajamas?" He questioned, Peter couldn't tell if the question was rhetorical or not and chose not to answer, save him some embarrassment at least.
"Why the Spider?" Black Canary questioned honestly curious, walking over to a vent and leaning against it. "Your webbing is artificial, it's not like you actually produce it yourself."
"It's because he was bitten by a Spider and now has the abilities of one." Batman stated causing Peter's eyes to widen, alongside Black Canary's, even she didn't know how Batman knew that.
Peter stared up at the cowled man staring down at him, how did he know that? Wait, why were they even here talking to him? Just what was going on!? Before he could voice any of the questions flooding his mind he heard his phone ringing in his bag. Wanting to focus on something normal he hurried to his bag, Batman and Black Canary exchanging a glance as they watched the teen dig through his backpack.
"Oh no." Peter groaned, surprisingly Gwen still had his number and was now calling him. Running a hand down his face, he sent her to voicemail before turning his phone off. "Ah... sorry about that." He apologized turning back to the two. "So uh..." He began awkwardly. "What can I do for you? Am I in trouble?" He questioned before he hung his head. "Of course, you are Pete, you just destroyed a museum with priceless art." He groaned.
"Don't worry about that." Batman stated. "Everything in the museum was replaced with fakes days ago." Peter blinked in surprise. "We've been following Giganta's rampage of museums across the world, we sent teams to several locations that might be her next target, this just happened to be the spot." He explained.
"Wait days ago? Even last night?" He questioned causing Black Canary to nod. "So Black Cat knew they were fakes, that's why she didn't steal anything!" He groaned, he thought that he had actually had a small victory over the cat, but of course, a world-class thief would know that they're fakes.
"Looks like he's got a feline problem, just like you." Black Canary smirked only for Batman to clear his throat causing her to go quiet, but the smirk didn't leave her face, she knew that Batman was annoyed at the comment.
"Peter." Batman began. "Spider-Man." He reiterated. "The Justice League has decided to put together a team of young heroes, those not yet ready to join the League itself but have the promise and ability to do so in the future." Peter's eyes were wide as he stared up at the imposing man before him. "I want you to join this team, what you've done here has proven that you're more than capable."
"With proper training and guidance, within a few years, you could easily become a full member of the Justice League." Black Canary added surprising Peter had just how sincere she was being. "This training will benefit you the most, it's clear you're still new to all this. It would be good to have those around your age to help guide you." Batman reached into his utility belt before pulling out a small card with an address on it handing it to Peter.
"Three days on the 8th of July at 8:00 am, go here to this address." Batman began as Peter took the card. "If you're not there, I'll take it as a sign that you're not interested and that will be it." He stated.
"Think it over." Black Canary smiled over at the teen, she could already see his mind at work considering his options, he seemed like a bright kid
"I... uh should go, before they think I'm buried in that mess I made back at the museum." Peter began as Black Canary nodded while Batman remained stoic and silent as they watched Peter grab his backpack before he pulled on his mask, he turned back to them. "Nice to meet you both." He told them before leaping from the building.
"Sweet kid." Dinah smiled as she glanced over at Bruce who was watching the kid swing down the street as if it was second nature to him. "How'd you know about the spider bite?" She questioned as Bruce turned back to her.
"I thought it was obvious." He stated.
"Fine, if you don't want to tell, don't." Dinah sighed.
"What's your evaluation?" Bruce questioned.
"The kid's scared." Dinah stated with a frown as she turned her attention to the teen swinging away. "The banter he makes, the jokes he cracks? It's a crutch for him to push past that fear. Going up against Giganta after only having gone up against petty crooks? I'm surprised he could even stand after all that." She confessed.
Dinah wasn't happy that Batman had decided to let the kid do his best to handle it, Diana agreed with her on that point but had gone along with Bruce's plan as long as he agreed for her to be on standby in the museum just in case things went wrong, but still, it was a lot for the kid's first time dealing with a powered opponent.
"He needs proper training, that's a given but I honestly don't know how he'll connect with the others, we don't have too much on his personal life." She added, knowing Bruce would know everything there was to know about the kid. "What about his Family?" She asked.
"Lives with his Aunt, Uncle died a few months back to a carjacker, and both his parents died when he was a child." Bruce stated causing Dinah to frown. Had the kid even gotten over his Uncle's death or was he using this 'spider-man' to cope with the pain? There might be some issues the kid wasn't dealing with which could only cause problems in the long run.
"He'll need a proper suit." Dinah added.
"Agreed."
[~You did not just send me to voicemail Peter Parker! We need to talk! Call me back!~]
Peter groaned as he hung his head listening to the voicemail, staring down at Gwen on the street who was surrounded by her own classmates who had gathered around, clearly now trying to process everything that had just happened to them. All the while Gwen was glaring at her phone, no doubt waiting for him to call her back. He was currently atop a building across the street from the museum, the destruction really was something else.
Peter had changed back into his regular clothes and was waiting for his chance to slip back into the crowd to join up with his class before he was declared dead or missing.
He still couldn't believe he had just met Batman and Black Canary, two members of the Justice League! Damn, he didn't get an autograph. Did Batman even give autographs?
Looking down at the card in his hands, he had already memorized the address, he didn't know where it was but he'd be looking it up for sure. But honestly, he didn't know if he was ready for this, a team of young heroes. Sure he could use the training and experience... but what was the team for exactly? He didn't know what to do, but Batman had given him a couple of days to think it over, that was nice.
"Let's deal with this mess first... then Gwen, then I can think about this whole team thing." Peter sighed. "I'm gonna need a new costume if I'm going to be joining a team." He stated.
I used Giganta's appearance from Wonder Woman: Bloodlines animated movie.
