A triple drabble (exactly 300 words) written as a treat for karameiwaku for the Seasons of Drabbles - Summer Round 2022 fic exchange
Sigh
Menolly sighed with relief as she sank into the warm bathing pool. After all, she was finally...blissfully...alone and that almost never happened. Her reprieve turned out to be extremely short lived, however, as the space around her suddenly exploded with fire lizards!
"You found me out," the woman sighed in resignation as Beauty landed on her shoulder and proceeded to scold her while the others perched along the edge of the pool. Nevertheless, despite the accusations, Menolly found that she couldn't feel too guilty.
After all, they had seemed perfectly willing to stay in the dining hall since they were being fed tasty tidbits from the student tables and getting their due attention with plenty of eye ridge scratching.
Therefore, Menolly sighed again...at the now obviously lost opportunity...before the Green Aunties commenced with their favorite game of "Push Uncle Into The Water." Apparently, that was a signal to the others that it was play time, as well. Consequently, Menolly was soon surrounded by diving and splashing fire lizards.
The only way to get them calm at that point was to give them each a thorough scrubbing. Therefore...with a sigh at yet another delay to her own ablutions...that was exactly what she did. Menolly had just finished lathering Poll, the last one, when the door to the bathing area opened. Even though Kimi was technically Sebell's fire lizard, she still flew in to join her friends and get Menolly to bathe her itchy hide, as well.
Afterwards, as the fire lizards finally napped, Sebell slid into the water behind his tired wife and kissed her neck. "It's time to take care of you now," he declared as he gently scrubbed her back with soapsand.
Menolly just sighed again.
However, this time it was with pleasure.
