Chapter 12: Volcanic Trip
Witchcraft focuses the Onyx Compass to find another piece of the Rift Specter which is located within the Super Volcano Emil under the waters of the Southern Ocean in between Efrika and Soumercia.
"How interesting?" Witchcraft questioned as she summons Zavok and Master Zik into her chambers.
"What is the mistress?" Master Zik asked.
"Well, this Supervolcano is the same one that causes the downfall of the old human world over 12,000 years ago wiping it clean to give rise to the Mobians on this planet. I need you two to go to the ancient volcano in the middle of the ocean to grab the Rift Specter," she ordered.
"How are we going to get there?" Zavok asked.
"I found one of Eggman's old mechs called the Egg Leviathan which has been taken over by an Unbound Possessor. It will be the machine you would need to get deep in the ocean," Witchcraft said.
"Thank you, madam. We will reclaim the artifact for you. Master, let's claim glory for the mistress," Zavok said as the elderly Zeti nods his head.
"Of course, the honor is my to work beside you," Master Zik said as they head for the huge machine with lots of Unbound inside to head into the ocean to go for the part.
Elsewhere Amy is in the living room to pick up the Onyx Compass to reveal the location of the next Rift Specter part which is inside the Super Volcano Emil in the Southern Ocean. "Oh wow, baby. We got a new location for the Rift Specter part. It's in the Super Volcano Emil," Amy said.
"Fighting in a volcano, that is quite tricky but we can manage," Sonic said as he calls Tails on the phone. "Yo Tails?" he asked.
"What's up Sonic, you need something?" Tails asked.
"Yep, I and Amy need the Sea Fox mini-sub. We are going to seek out the next Rift Specter part," Sonic said.
"Oh okay, you need any backup?" he asked.
"No, I and Amy got this. Any luck on finding Emeralds?" Sonic asked.
"Yeah the third one is going to be a bit tricky to grab," Tails said.
"Alright, tell me when you are ready to pounce on it," Sonic said.
"Yeah I will, the Sea Fox should be at the Station Square Docks," Tails said.
"Alright, time to head over to the docks and get moving," Sonic said as Amy pours wind energy into her feet.
"Sonic, we can just run there now," Amy said.
"You sure Amy?" he asked.
"Yep because my legs were built solid for running from all that practice. Let's get going," Amy said as they speed towards the docks to reach the warehouse which holds Tails' vehicles.
"Perfect, a two-seater," Sonic said as Amy typed on the terminal to allow the Sea Fox to use a crane to move it into the water. The duo goes into the seat with Amy in the pilot seat with Sonic in the second seat. They close seats with a glass dome to protect them from the water and the pressure.
"Let's get going," Amy said as she moves the sub to go deep into the ocean to descend the depths with lots of animals around them. "Oh goodness, these Dolphins are so cute," Amy said.
"More like little psychopaths," Sonic said.
"Sonic that is so mean," Amy said.
"Do you want to know what happens to the females?" Sonic asked as Amy's eyes widen at this.
"Oh yeah, I remember now. Dolphins are major dicks," Amy said.
"They look all cute but deep down they have a dark side," Sonic said.
"Too bad the Sharks get all the bad press while Dolphins are the real apex predators of the ocean. Orcas are just too much," Amy said as they took about an hour to reach the vast depth to see something in the distance.
"What is this?" Sonic wondered for the sensor detected something huge nearby. Sonic and Amy are catching up with the Egg Leviathan as the massive mech begins tracking their movements.
"Gee, that thing is massive," Amy said.
"Yeah. Seems like one of Eggman's machines being used," Sonic said as the mech is firing lasers and missiles at them.
"Okay, we need to get close to the supervolcano and track the specter part," Amy said. Master Zik detects the mini-sub behind him as he begins to unload missiles and laser bolts. "Oh crap," she said as she guides the mini-sub to avoid the blasts from the projectiles. "That thing is going to blast us into kingdom come," Amy said as she fires laser bolts to destroy several missiles.
"So, Sonic you got on my back once again and now you got a pink girlfriend here too," Zavok said on the radio.
"Oh, not this guy again," Amy said as they know the Deadly Six are commanding the mech.
"We are going to kick your ass and take that specter right under your nose," Sonic said.
"I can ditto that," Amy said as she spots an opening on the side of the supervolcano. "Let's get inside and rush for the part," she said as the huge metal lobster swings its large claws at the mini-sub. Amy is riding through the lumbering metal claws.,
"Let's do it, better to fight on land," Sonic said as Amy is firing laser bolts into the armor but did not do enough damage to leave a mark.
"Gee, this thing is way too big," Amy said as Zavok laughs at them.,
"You think that tiny sub would do any real damage against me," Zavok said as the Possessed Egg Leviathan lobs big EMP bombs with Amy driving towards the hole to avoid the electric blasts.
"Thank goodness, we avoided that," Amy parked in a large air pocket for them to exit out of the mini-sub. They plant their feet onto the dirt to see they are inside the supervolcano.
"Gee, this place is huge," Sonic said.
"Yep, this is a supervolcano. This is the same supervolcano that destroyed human civilization over 12,000 years ago, then purged it into over a hundred years of nuclear winter and gave birth to this new world Mobius," Amy said as she uses the Onyx Compass to pinpoint the location to head for there.
"Gee, that's pretty dark," Sonic said as she magically gets into her sailor dress to tap her boots on the rocks.
"Well Sonic, that is part of history. The fall of mankind and the beginning of the Mobians to share this planet of what remains of humanity," Amy said as they begin to run using their super speed for they can already feel the heat coming off the rocks.
"Gee, this place is still active?" Sonic questioned to see pools of magma nearby.
"Yes, sadly it still is active but thankfully it will not go off any time in our lifetimes," Amy said as they leap over the lava pools to run on the side of the walls avoiding the lava.
"Amy, we need to go higher where the specter part is located," Sonic said as they see lava burst out of the ceiling to crawl down the wall.
"Oh crap," Amy said as they leap off walls and run on the side of a pillar. They leap over a pool of lava as a plume of magma erupts heading for them.
"Double crap," Sonic said as Amy grabs onto his hand.
"Flame Shield," Amy cast a fire shield to allow them to pass through the plume of lava unharmed by taking out her shield in the process.
"Sweet moves," Sonic said as he is happy to see Amy adapting pretty quickly using the power of the wind to match his speed.
"I learned from the best," Amy said as she gives him a wink for them to land on the ground. They use Boost to go ahead to see more lava around them as they are getting deeper within the supervolcano.
The speedy couple is dodging incoming lava plumes spiking out of the magma lakes. They break formation to jump and bounce off walls and rocky pillars to dodge the lava splashing everywhere.
"Man, this is intense," Sonic said as he is using all his speed to avoid not getting hit by bits of lava while the heat is overbearing to the duo.
"I know baby but we got to keep going and find that artifact," Amy said as a wall of magma shoots out of the floor to block their path.
"Triple crap, this isn't good," Sonic said as Amy unleash beams of water to cool them down into solid matter. She uses her Hammer Spin to bash through the rocks with ease. The duo managed to cross the area to see a dead end as Amy prepares another Hammer Spin to clear the way destroying sections of rock with her might.
They enter another area as Amy lands on the rocky floor with Sonic behind her. "Going through this place is going to be as hard as fighting that massive lobster," she said.
"Yep, it's one hell of a workout," Sonic said as Amy taps her boots on the rocks.
"Yeah, my leg muscles are on fire," Amy said as they push deeper within the ancient supervolcano to see even more lava than before.
"You got to be kidding me," Sonic said as a huge stream of lava is bursting through a wall to head right for them. "Oh crap, Amy let's juice out of here," Sonic said as the duo unleash their full speed to avoid the chasing flow of magma.
The speedy couple is avoiding the lava all around them as the lava flow is getting bigger and faster. Walls begin to crack with more lava pouring into the area with the heat starting to make the duo lose focus and lose their speed.
"Oh no, this heat is getting too much," Amy said.
"Amy, time to Double Boost out of here," Sonic said as they combine their speed to blast through the area breaking the sound barrier as they are going over Mach 2. The lava is engulfing the entire chamber as they break through several weak rock walls opening a path to a cooler area of the supervolcano with the lava still following them.
They see a rock shaped like a ramp as they rocket off into the air with lava going down a hole below into a huge pool of magma. They slingshot themselves onto the other side as they land on the ground.
"Oh man, that was intense," Amy said trying to catch her breath as Sonic is doing the same thing.
"Yeah, when we work together. We are unbeatable," Sonic said.
"Damn straight baby, okay. Let's keep going," Amy said.
"Good work on the boosting. You were keeping up with me," Sonic said sounding very impressed.
"Thanks, this magic is doing the trick. Pushing me beyond my limits," Amy said as they arrive at the lava chamber to see the Rift Specter piece on the other side. "There it is," Amy said.
"Oh no, you don't," Zavok busts through a wall for the massive mech to appear. "Time to give you some pain," Zavok said on the speakers for the Egg Leviathan is about to fight Sonic and Amy over the Specter within the depths of the supervolcano.
"Time for me to make my move," Master Zik said.
"Be careful out there," Zavok said as they ordered several Unbound to be summoned around the area. The Possessed Egg Leviathan slams its claws onto the ground to unleash shockwaves for Sonic sees Master Zik heading for the part.
"Oh crap, they are going for it," Sonic said.
"Sonic, I will handle this metal beast and you go grab the part," Amy said.
"Alright, keep your wits up," Sonic speeds off with Amy wielding her new Long Hammer holding it in two hands.
"Okay time to test this bad girl out. Okay you big shrimp, time to face my magical wraith," Amy summons a flame shield while powering up her hammer with fiery energy.
"Try me pink rat," Zavok said as he orders the Unbound controlled Egg Leviathan unloads missiles toward Amy with her shooting them out of the air with fireballs.
"Suck on this, Flaming Lance," Amy cast down a fire spear from the sky to impale the back of the dark mech to let out a bit fiery blast to shake it up a bit.
"You know a bit of magic but nothing like my mistress," Zavok said as the lobster mech unleashes a beam of energy with Amy rolling away from the large beams of dark energy.
Amy focuses her energy on her feet to jump over the air while summoning a magic circle to act as a platform called Magic Hike to act like a double jump to avoid another energy beam. The Egg Leviathan swings its claw to crash onto the floor unleashing a big shockwave to knock Amy away.
She manages to get back up to see the monster mech keeps smashing onto the ground to unleash shockwaves. Amy uses her Magic Hike to avoid the energy attacks. She creates magical circles to bounce off from to get closer to the big mech and slams her Long Hammer powered up with fire energy to clash with the left claw. The explosive force is strong enough to damage the left claw.
"Damn it," Zavok said as he orders the dark mech to let out homing missiles with Amy using her Boost to speed away from the barrage of explosives that destroy sections of the floor. Amy is speeding across the walls to use the Magic Hike to launch her towards the massive machine.
The damaged claw opens up to fire a fire beam to hit Amy's flame shield destroying it but leaving her unharmed. "Eat this," Zavok made the mech swing its damaged claw at Amy. She delivers a powerful explosive hit to destroy the left claw leaving the robot with its right claw left.
"How do you like that?" Amy taunted him as she casts a barrage of water bubbles to pepper the machine with tons of watery blasts damaging it further.
"Damn it, useless machine. Possessor give this thing more power," Zavok commanded as the mech exploded with dark energy which rocks the whole supervolcano. The machine is covered with a dark aura to swing the lava to make it fall toward Amy.
Amy casts another flame shield as she blasts the lava with water beams to harden them into rocks. Some lava onto Amy's shield to protect her but destroys it with Amy conjuring waves of stone spikes to tear across the floor to hit the mech.
"Sonic grab that item," Amy said as she is dodging the huge mech with Sonic rushing across the lava chamber to hop over rivers of lava with Master Zik floating on top of a rock using his telekinesis.
"The blue rat, I am Master Zik and I will make this place your grave," Elder Zeti uses his mind to lift lava rocks to fling them at Sonic with rapid speed.
Sonic is dodging incoming hot rocks with him not wanting to touch them or be burned to a crisp. "Gee more weirdos from the witch," Sonic thought with him seeing the normal rocks being thrown at him. He uses the Homing Attack to hit the rocks and get closer to the Zeti. He clears up the rocks and strikes Master Zik to make him recoil backward.
"Damn it," the elder Zeti unleashes energy to knock back Sonic for he lands on the side of the wall to begin running on it. He tosses balls of lava with his mind to toss them at Sonic as he leaps off the wall to land on the floor to continue running for the part just up ahead.
Master Zik is unleashing a barrage of energy beams trying to shoot Sonic but its blown-out sections reveal lava to burst out into plumes. He moves out of the way before getting burned by the towers of fire.
Sonic is almost there with Master Zik getting in front of him to use his telekinesis to lift all sorts of things like lava orbs, lava rocks, and normal rocks to toss them all at Sonic. Sonic aims his Homing Attacks carefully to strike the cool rocks to get closer to Master Zik. He closes the gap with Master Zik getting nervous about him getting nearby.
"Get away," Master Zik unleashes beams of energy with Sonic avoiding his energy attacks to use his Homing Attack to stun him.
"Enough of this nonsense," Sonic delivers several swift kicks to knock the old Zeti onto the floor. "Good," Sonic goes up to grab the Rift Specter piece as Amy is still fighting the powerful mech avoiding the right claw.
Amy lifts into the air with a Magic Hike to slam her hammer onto the claw to then follow up with a barrage of fireballs to damage it further.
"You pest, I am going to crush you," Zavok said as the Possessed Egg Leviathan fires a beam of energy at Amy. She uses her hammer to knock the beam away as she casts another spell.
"Stone Rain," Amy summons shards of sharp stones to tear into the damaged arm to embed into it. "Trigger," she made all the shards explode like grenades to destroy the right arm.
"I am going to crush you," Zavok leaps out of the lava pit with the whole machine about to crush Amy.
She stands her ground to power up earth energy into her hammer. "Giga Smash," Amy stomps onto the ground and swings her hammer with full force. Her hammer connects with the hull to inflict such force it's enough to split the massive machine in half.
Zavok is surprised that this pink hedgehog wielding such powerful magic. "Impossible," he said as Amy knocks away the machine's lower half into the lava lake to see it sink to the bottom.
"Oh boy, that took a lot out of me," Amy said as Sonic rushes over to hug Amy to be impressed.
"Damn Amy, that was awesome," Sonic said.
"Thanks, lots of earth magic put into that strike. Can't afford to miss, powerful yet slow to execute," Amy said as he shows her the part of the Rift Specter. "Oh, good job Sonic. Let's head back to the Sea Fox and get back home," Amy said as the couple use their speed to get out of there. Sonic and his friends have now 2 Rift Specter parts and 1 Chaos Emerald in their hands.
