A/N: Hey two chapters in one day? That's never happened before. This might be a little longer than I originally thought but I don't want to rush the story. As always, thank you for reading. Enjoy!
Regina's breath caught in her throat as Emma leaned in. Before she knew what was happening their lips brushed. Regina hadn't felt Emma lips in months. It was a feeling she knew she missed but wouldn't let herself admit. Feeling Emma's mouth moving softly against hers she had no choice but to concede. She pressed their lips together harder, savoring the taste of cinnamon coffee that Emma drank every morning.
"Regina." Emma sighed into their kiss.
"Emma." Regina moaned in response.
"Regina?" Emma repeated. Her voice was different this time. A regular talking voice rather than a breathy whisper. Regina opened her eyes to see the blonde standing over her. It took a moment of looking around for Regina to realize what happened.
Her face flushed, and Emma's concerned face twisted into one of humor. "Having good dreams?" She smirked.
"Shut up." Regina groaned and rolled over to hide her face. The truth was yes. It had been a very good dream. She cursed herself for being caught. Hopefully Emma would let it go.
"Are you about ready to go to dinner?" Emma questioned. Regina didn't have to look at her to know she was still smiling.
"Yes. Let me fix my make up and grab my purse." Regina kept her head down until she reached the bathroom.
Taking a few deep breaths, Regina grounds herself. For just a second, she lets her mind wonder what life would be like had they not broken up. She figured it would be the same as it had always been. Emma always on duty as the town's sheriff or Regina in the office or in court. She hadn't planned on falling in love when she decided to go to law school. They sometimes went days without seeing each other.
She had always been a fan of her alone time, but she also loved spending time with the insufferable blonde. She had become a safe haven of sorts. Well, until she wasn't. They didn't agree on anything, and the few and far between nights they could spend together was spent arguing. Regina frowned
"Gina? Are you alright?" Emma called from the other side of the door. Regina shook her head and opened the door.
"Yes. Sorry. I think I'm still jet lagged."
Dinner was amazing. The restaurant was the highest rated at the resort so obviously it was the first choice. Regina ordered a lobster tail and Emma had crab legs. They talked and ate and just enjoyed each other's company.
They decided to walk on the beach at sunset after dinner. Regina tried to ignore how romantic it was. The whole night Regina couldn't keep her eyes off the blonde. She was wearing tight khaki jeans with her white button up tucked in. She was stunning. If Emma noticed, she pretended not to.
They called it an early night. Both of them still tired from traveling. They slipped in bed and Regina tried to ignore the urge to rollover and cuddle Emma the way she did every night in their bed.
Morning light poured through the window and straight into Regina's eyes. She groaned and rolled over, trying to cover her head with the comforter. Instead she was face to face with a sleeping blonde. Regina giggled as a snore that would put a giant to shame erupted from Emma
Reigna shook her head as she came to her senses. Emma was her ex for a reason. Whatever feelings she had for her mean nothing now. As harsh as that sounded it was for the better. Regina hadn't planned on ever falling in love. She wasn't built for love. Her mother always said love was weakness. Turns out she was right. Love only ended in heartbreak for Regina.
She was never going to fall in love again. She was going to make sure of that.
A sleep riddled voice startled her. "It's too early for you to be thinking that hard, Gina."
Emma's eyes were still closed but Regina could tell by her breathing that she was awake. She didn't bother with a response.
The women easily fell into their everyday routine. Emma would sleep until Regina finished showering, and then she would jump in while Regina did her make up and got ready for the day. It always worked out that they would get done at the same time. Today was no different. As Emma was opening the bathroom door, already dressed and hair in a high ponytail, Regina was putting the finishing touches on her make up.
They had agreed to go to the beach that morning. Emma was wearing a royal blue bikini under a white tank top and a pair of cut off jean shorts. Regina pulled her eyes away before she was caught staring. Reigna had chosen a white bathing suit and dark green sundress over top. It matched her skin tone perfectly.
"You look beautiful." Emma's voice was barely above a whisper. Regina stood in the mirror and could see Emma sitting on the bed behind her. They locked eyes through the mirror.
"As do you." She smiled. Much to her surprise Emma stood and walked towards her. Regina swore she could feel the blonde's heart beat with how close Emma was standing. She held her phone up to take a picture, pulling Regina close to her like she always did. She smiled, but she wasn't able to breathe with Emma's arm around her.
When Emma's chin rested on her shoulder Regina turned to look at her. Those striking green eyes sparkled as she looked back. They were so close to each other. Regina could smell the toothpaste coming from Emma. She hadn't had a chance to get coffee yet. Her dream from yesterday flooded her mind again. The taste of coffee on Emma's tongue as it teased her own. It would be so easy to just lean in and…
"Well, the beach won't wait forever." Regina could have growled. The beach would, in fact, wait as long as possible.
The beach was serene, though. The white sand was warm on Regina's bare feet. Emma made a beeline for the bar and ordered two pina coladas. "Emma, it's 10:30 am." Regina chastised her ex girlfriend.
"All inclusive, right?" She rolled her eyes and turned around, allowing Emma to get her a drink.
And that's how they ended up day drunk in the pool. They had a small spot to themselves. There were no kids here, which Regina couldn't be more grateful for. The pool was spotted with what she would assume is couples.
"So what was your dream yesterday?" Emma asked nonchalantly. Regina's stomach dropped.
"It was nothing." She answered too quickly.
"It didn't sound like nothing." Emma swam too close to Regina. "It doesn't sound like nothing now either. It was about me, I know that much." She swam impossibly closer, so that their noses were touching. She could feel Emma's breath on her lips. Butterflies erupted in her stomach. Her brain was fuzzy from the alcohol and she couldn't seem to get her body to move.
"So, tell me. What was I doing to you to make you moan my name?" Emma husked into her ear. She gasped as she felt a heat shoot straight to her core. The alcohol was clearly getting to them both. Regina knew she should tell Emma to get back. But when she opened her mouth…
"Kissed me." her voice was barely audible. That was all Emma needed to hear. She lunged forward and crashed their lips together. A moan rumbled in Regina's throat at the feeling. It was everything the dream was and so much more. Emma's lips were even more intoxicating than the rum.
"Woah." was the only thing Emma could say when they parted. The blonde rested her forehead on Regina's.
"I still love you, Gina."
