"You are free to go." Was five words he never expected to hear come out of her mouth. Marcus was eating a sandwich in the cell he was in. How he got it was a mystery. " Huh? "
"The emperor has no need for you and he told me to do to you as I wish. You are free to go." Marcus smiled as the bars were removed. " am I free to go to your house? "
She was trying to keep down a blush. "No." Was all she said as they were walking out of the conformitorium . "I'm no longer a fugitive. C'mon, I just wanna crash on your couch."
Her blush was growing and he took notice. " *gasp* were you thinking naughty thoughts? About me? " she was. She never had a room mate. She has never been with a man. She had the problem of thinking too far ahead. She would never admit this to anyone. Especially not to the boy she had become ever so slightly infatuated with.
"Well, if your are worried about me doing something to you. Stop it right now. I will not do anything to you without your consent." That was a slight relief to hear. This, however, meant that he would actively flirt with her and do his best to make her fall for him.
As they reach the exit. "I should probably stop teasing you with the truth for today. See ya, Lily!" He then jumps into a shadow and disappeared .
At the owl house, he popped up out of King's shadow. This freaked everyone. "Eda, can I borrow the portal? " he said as he sat down on the couch. "Why, where are you going, and will I get it back in one peace?"
"Magic, the knee, and yes." He didn't want to explain too much. He was going to have to. " can I explain more after? I got about two hours max before my window closes. "
Eda needed to know. Her main source of income and Luz 's way home. "Fine we were all going there anyway."
At the knee Eda said to him, "knock yourself out." And left to try to reach Luz a new spell.
Marcus melted a patch of snow with a sunlight beam, revealing dead grass underneath. He then dug four circles in the ground and connected them together with a bigger circle. He takes a dark blue diamond in the first circle, pointing north. The eastern circle had a black diamond and the western circle had a white one. The circle for South had two, a blood red one and a green one. He then proceeds to sort cross-legged in the center, facing the titan skull.
He goes into a meditative stance and says, "I ask for the protection and approval of the mother Gaia and the grand Titan as I enter the next realm of magic. "
A swirl of light was produced from the small blue crystal hanging from his neck. It enveloped his entire body in magnificent colors. Some representing the main covens. Many lights were mixing together to create new colors entirely. New magic.
Eda and Luz watched the whole thing. They watched in awe at what he was doing. The colors that swirled around him condensed into a small pill that looked like it had a small galaxy in it. In which he ate.
"Okay kid you have to explain what just happened." Esa said emerging from behind a rock nearby. "What the Titan was that?"
Luz was jumping up and down, yelling, "that was awesome! " over and over. Marcus sighed and have Luz a headpat.
"I follow the Arcane Order of merit and mastery. It's a magic ranking system. You are given spells and depending on how well you train, you gain more power to do more spells. Spells are tiered based on power needed.
Witchling is the starting point. Then witch is immediately after. Then Wizard, the one I was . And Arch-wizard, which I now am. After that is Sage and draconic Sage. Which is what my ancestor, Merlin, was."
Eda was fascinated with the explanation. This was how humans did magic? It was slightly more efficient and better than what they had here. She thought.
Luz calmed down. "What can an Arch-Wizard do?" She was curious . Her big brother is a big powerful magician. She wanted to know all she could.
"Well, I am stronger now. And I am allowed to take an apprentice. And I am going to need a little bit of help teaching him. " Luz smile was gone. "Why don't you want me to be your apprentice? I'm your sister!"
" because you are already Eda's. If I take you away, that would have serious consequences on me. And I don't want to lose another hand. "
His answer was quick and scary. They just stared at him, worried.
"What?" He rolled up is hoodie to show a scar on this left forearm. It wrapped around in a perfect circle. " How do you think I got this? "
After another staring contest. "Weren't you also planning on learning new magic too? Go, have fun, don't die. Love ya, sis!" And Luz walks away.
" will she be able to do what you just did? " Eda asked still standing next to him.
"Nope. I'm adopted. The only way that I know of that will give her the same magic as me. Is to put in an artificial magic core in her body. And the energy required for that ritual would kill her."
Eda's eyes went wide with terror. "How do you know so much about magic?"
" I'm a magic historian back on earth. After The Fall there was barely anything left. But I made due. " He walked away "take good care of her."
" I will. " Eda said while watching Marcus jump into his own shadow and disappear.
